Hilary Koprowski used monkey and chimpanzee parts in his vaccines. One of the first places he began the forced vaccination was Leopoldville, the location of a major AIDS outbreak in the late 50's.
Sabin, the other main producer of the polio vaccine, analyzed Koprowski's "oral" vaccine and found that it was "unstable and contaminated by an unknown virus."
Incidentally, Sabin was also manufacturing a contaminated polio vaccine with a different lethal virus: SV40.
In response to Sabin's claims of contamination, Koprowski simply scoffed at him and said he was just trying to discredit his work (as he would do again and again to anyone making this accusation).
The Wikipedia page on the OPV AIDS hypothesis, in typical Wikipedia fashion, dismisses the hypothesis in the first paragraph, but then throughout the article lists several interest points and distinguished and established scientists who have taken this hypothesis very seriously.
Here's the logical fallacy that seems glaringly apparent to me: (from Koprowski's Wikipedia page)
"The OPV AIDS hypothesis has been widely rejected throughout the scientific community and is contradicted by modern research on the origin of the disease."
In other words, now that we now that AIDS actually originated in the early 1900's (and maybe even earlier), the "experts" use this to disprove the hypothesis that the Koprowski vaccine trials were the origin of AIDS.
But this misses the essential point of the issue: just because this event wasn't the origin of AIDS doesn't mean contamination didn't occur on a wide scale. The timing is too extraordinary.

I strongly recommend that channel, it's 100% backed by science, they constantly interview doctors, scientists and the same politicians that are making your health decisions for you.
I always find it amusing when this topic comes up how many people knee jerk reaction into blah blah blah autism. I am surprised Jenny McCarthy hasn't been mentioned yet.
In the end, our vaccine schedule is a little aggressive, and once you see the revolving door between pharma and and the vaccine board, you will see why our vaccine schedule has exploded.
As a result, I do not trust our vaccine schedule, but I don't feel that it is a reason to NOT vaccinate. Modifying and slowing down the vaccine schedule, checking for titers before boosting, and generally being educated about the process protects the population, and your child.

Is there anything specifically you're interested in?
A good place to start is to begin researching the AMA (and associated "health care" [sic] professions) as well as the various medical product companies -- especially from the perspective that the former are really "trade unions" designed to advance the agenda (including status and salary) of their own members over that of other people; while the latter are direct profit making enterprises (but also don't neglect that while non-profit organizations may be "not-for-DIRECT-profit" of the organization themselves, they most certainly can/are used as a vehicles for the "profit" of various individuals and companies that are associated with them).
I am not aware of a single (sole) source that I would consider to be objective or all-inclusive (even the various "history of medicine" books come from a limited perspective and ignore more than they cover).
You have to research it by reading across a lot of disciplines and topics. Alas, I do not have any specific book recommendations that would consider a good "primer" regarding the history (and around "modern medicine" in general, there are just so many, and a lot of them are out-of-print or hard to find -- though if pressed, I would tenuously suggest "What Doctors Don't Tell You" by Lynne McTaggart as a decent "starting" point because it begins with a bit of historical "perspective", and then follows that up with a lot of statistical-based-critiques of recent medical practices, and can serve as a launching point for your own further research).
My own has involved reading, over decades now (egads!), a rather vast array of books (and online materials) on a host of subjects, as well as reading encyclopedia entries (historical ones -- i.e. OLD books and encyclopedias -- are often quite enlightening, especially concerning things that were once widely known but which are no longer "politically correct" and as a result have dropped down the "memory hole" by subsequent edits and changing viewpoints & policies.)
Chief points to remember are that everyone has their own "perspectives" (biases and multiple underlying "assumptions") -- and just as a variety of conflicts and special interests and "mixed motives" are present in the current debate, so they also were present historically (although many of the "actors" and debate points were different).
In addition, people have a tendency to NOT be aware of the significant advances in our current mode of life versus what it was 50, 75, 100 years ago -- and that in taking for grantedmany "mundane" things which dramatically improved our overall health (whether abundant food, clean water, sewers, and central heating, not to mention "band-aids" etc) -- we often mis-attribute the roots of these many "innovations" and their affect on society (and the various special interests often distort their own history or involvement in past successes; and conversely ignore and/or whitewash their involvement in its failures and fiascoes).
IMO, one should take claims (especially those regarding stated motives and "noble goals" -- versus the unspoken ones) with heavy grains of salt, sifting through it all in an attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff, and arriving at your own opinion (which will obviously be "colored" by your own era and situation).
History is never as "clean" as it is portrayed in books. Like the present, it was a lot "messier" than we want to think.

Life isn't black or white - you don't have to be "anti-vaxx" to question vaccinations. Vaccinations do seemingly work, yet there is so much we can do to improve them, make them safer, inject children with only those necessary, as well as not injecting people/children with dozens of vaccines in one go. Not to mention that we should be seeking better ways in how to improve our immune systems and live healthy lives, so the majority of such illnesses would have no effect on us (sadly most people nowadays live very unhealthy lives, not to mention they are constantly bombarded by stressors from every area of life and exposed to the various toxins in our air, soil, water, food....which are a product of modern man's rejection of living in unity with nature and instead trying to dominate it, effectively destroying our planet).

He is a vaccinologist, meaning that he has devoted his entire professional career to studying vaccines. Dr. "Bob" is a general pediatrician, like me, and has no additional training in immunology, virology, microbiology, or vaccines.

I have serious questions about whether the information in them is reliable.
Panic Virus by Seth Mnookin. The author is a reporter and a parent, and it's a well-researched, open-minded book about the vaccine controversy. I say "open-minded", because he investigates and reports on both positive and negative, but he does draw conclusions, and ends up being generally pro-vaccine.

From 1980 through 1999, there were 154 cases of paralytic polio that were vaccine-associated paralytic polio (VAPP) caused by live oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV). In 2009, an immunoncompromised adult developed vaccine-associated paralytic polio (VAPP) and died of polio-associated complications. Hilary Koprowski used monkey and chimpanzee parts in his vaccines. One of the first places he began the forced vaccination was Leopoldville, the location of a major AIDS outbreak in the late 50's.
Sabin, the other main producer of the polio vaccine, analyzed Koprowski's "oral" vaccine and found that it was "unstable and contaminated by an unknown virus."
Incidentally, Sabin was also manufacturing a contaminated polio vaccine with a different lethal virus: SV40.
In response to Sabin's claims of contamination, Koprowski simply scoffed at him and said he was just trying to discredit his work (as he would do again and again to anyone making this accusation).
The Wikipedia page on the OPV AIDS hypothesis, in typical Wikipedia fashion, dismisses the hypothesis in the first paragraph, but then throughout the article lists several interest points and distinguished and established scientists who have taken this hypothesis very seriously.
Here's the logical fallacy that seems glaringly apparent to me: (from Koprowski's Wikipedia page)
"The OPV AIDS hypothesis has been widely rejected throughout the scientific community and is contradicted by modern research on the origin of the disease."
In other words, now that we now that AIDS actually originated in the early 1900's (and maybe even earlier), the "experts" use this to disprove the hypothesis that the Koprowski vaccine trials were the origin of AIDS.
But this misses the essential point of the issue: just because this event wasn't the origin of AIDS doesn't mean contamination didn't occur on a wide scale. The timing is too extraordinary.
Here's an excerpt from this book:

You are right, the anti-vax movement has been around for as long as there have been vaccines. Congratulations on surviving your childhood diseases, but your anecdote does not apply universally. Just because you survived doesn't mean that everyone will live through them, or escape unscathed. This especially applies to third world countries, where access to adequate medical care is a rarity. Don’t get me wrong, some of those studies lack a lot and aren’t definitive at all. But raises really good questions. Recommend this to you as well.
All you have to do is google something like "dangers of vaccination" to find a number of medical professionals disagreeing with the popular opinion. However, here are some things that came up upon a brief search (I'm not harbouring a pile of documents to present to anyone who asks by any means... but I'm relaxed on the issue since I've seen good arguments on both sides):

Here is a book detailing the raging controversy over vaccines, with all manner of medical and other experts, as well as people who have experienced negative side-effects, showing that it's not as clear-cut as some want to make it appear.
Here is a list of Dr. Palevsky's interviews on vaccines for you to choose from. I would link directly to his interview by Dr. Mercola, but many people would dismiss it right away because of Dr. Mercola's reputation and not the information that is being given; however, that is the interview that I watched, and I found what Dr. Palevsky said there very interesting and informative. I would recommend that one if you can bear to separate the interviewer from the interviewee, and if you're willing to watch through a long but detailed video. He discusses the fundamental issues with research that shows vaccines to be safe, the inner conflict that doctors (pediatricians) face when confronting the issue and the reason for the tendency to turn a blind eye to negative effects, and why vaccines cannot be deemed safe at this time due to key questions that have not yet been researched or answered. He speaks of his own experience with the question as a med student and practicing pediatrician, how he came to change his mind about it.
Just some places to go. Why would this be such a hot issue today, and so debated among parents, if there were absolutely no reason to question vaccines? No personal experiences, no supporting research, or absolutely conclusive research on the other side? Don't all parents want what's best for their child? To say that all those who oppose vaccination are simply stupid and ignorant is... well, kind of simple and unrealistic. Most people who are "stupid and ignorant" tend to have a near-absolute trust in the almighty medical system; they're getting those shots and they're happy to give them to their kids. (Please don't take this as an attack upon yourself, as I agree there are also parents becoming informed and asking questions that go on to choose vaccination out of their own opinion and not from blind trust in the system.)
Also, I must beg to differ: there is a clear difference between absolute fact and science's search for it. Upon that search, there have been many wrong turns, many dangerous decisions, and there are many, many purse-strings. It is not a search of total integrity, and its results are not always in accordance with what is true. It's not a perfect system because it's run by PEOPLE. The people searching are erring; the fact is absolute.

That's not to say that paying attention to scientists (and especially the scientific consensus) is bad, only that it's healthy- and scientific- to put some skepticism into individual papers and reports. Scientific literacy is being able to read a scientific paper, or at least a summary in a science-minded news source, and be able to understand or guess the limitations of the research

I don't believe you will be convinced, it took me a while to digest and put the facts together. I have seen hundreds of articles from both sides of the debate, seen dozens of documentaries, I know my mind is made up on who to trust and it sure as hell is not Big Pharma.
