Obligatory Noisefighter recommendation. They're a massive improvement.

Edit: They're also on prime

u/TechnicallyAnIdiot · 39 pointsr/gundeals

The Pro version is also on sale.

Just to head off some comments that will definitely probably happen judging from all the times this was posted before:

The sports don't fit everyone well, they're very head shape dependent. If they don't seal properly they won't work as well.

They don't work at indoor ranges as well as the pros or many other over-the-ear hearing protection because they're only 22 NRR, and again, they may not fit everyone well. (I feel like everyone should at least consider doubling up with inserts and earmuffs for most shooting anyway, in which case your insert is what matters more as far as protection goes, but live however you want).

Turning up the background noise amplification will let you hear conversation pretty well even with foam inserts in.

People really like noisefighter ear pad replacements despite them costing more than the actual earmuffs. That may not be the best link or price, I just linked the first one I found.

Our closet hallway had no internal light. We've used it somehow that way for over six years. I just bought one of these and mounted it on the inside door frame and it has been so nice to be able to see in there.

Seriously, do you have a tutorial on how to make this stuff? I'd love to put one together for my kids.

Here's a cheapskate tip that nobody asked for:

Throw these into your order. I don't have a small head, but the Leight earpieces are so tall that, with the headband at its shortest, they still sit very low on my ears. Because of this they interfere with cheek weld and the sound seal is easily broken if I move my jaw. Wrapping the headband raises the earpieces just enough to seal properly and be much more comfortable.

Less cheapskate:

Then throw these into your order. I realize you now have a $75 set of ears, but by golly they work well and they're extremely comfortable.

Just my preferences. YMMV.

Did you try any of these items? I'm not able to apply it to any computer part I try, including the AsRock H110 you linked.

Really wanted to grab a Kraken X31, but I'll just wait for now.

EDIT: Just tried every item on that list and get the following error: "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase." I haven't used the promo on any item yet, because every computer part I've tried gives me that error :(

Adding to this: if you have the Howard Leight Impact Sport or Impact Pro earmuffs, and you want these gel cups a little faster, Noisefighters also sells them on Amazon.

Hatch Baby Rest doubles as sound machine and nightlight controlled by phone or simple touch (you can preset favorites).

We also use this that turns on via touch and can be dimmable.

They did come with frosted covers, and one is pretty much hidden by the cabinet drawer, but I'll definitely see if I need to do something about the other two. So far they do not seem to bother the dogs, but I appreciate the advice. @cubistninja the amazon link is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YMNS4YA

It's a little more expensive, but there's another version with a remote. It looks the same, but you can set it to extra colors and have it be a solid color without animating.

u/Noisefighters · 9 pointsr/gundeals

Hi Reddit,

This is Neal & Jeff, the guys behind Noisefighters and the recently successful Kickstarter for SightLines: Headset Cushions with Zero Eyewear Interference. We stopped by here last Monday to debut our product for the first time after Kickstarter, and the response we received was incredible. In sixteen hours, we sold as many gel cups as we planned on for one month. That’s insane, but we had a hunch that r/gundeals folks would like our new product.

Some people have already posted their reviews on the other r/gundeals page, but if you have anything to say, good or bad, about our products and customer service, we’d love to see it added to our new Amazon product page that will have inventory available soon and ready to ship via Prime.

We have just a few pairs of HL Impact Sport-compatible gel cups available before our next resupply at the end of the month, and we wanted to see if anybody missed out on the sale last time or needed another pair at a nice discount. We ship quickly.

For background: our new design of gel cups has a relief cut up top that allows glasses / eyepro to slide through without breaking the noise barrier nor being crushed against your head. No more headaches, less noise, and better sound isolation are the big differences between our gel cups and competing designs. It's a huge improvement in both comfort and hearing protection. Please check out the reviews by MilitaryMorons and SOFREP’s review team (via Loadout Room), collected here for further confirmation that we’ve made something new and actually worth your hard-earned cash. Also, thanks again for getting us on that really funny segment on The Gun Collective.

FYI, Neal is the Marine behind Sintercore and normally posts here as u/sintercore, so please check out his post history if you’d like to see his involvement in the r/gundeals community. Jeff is the owner of Dynamic Machine. Neal and Jeff have partnered since 2013 on projects like the Tripwire ambi charging handle and other assorted gizmos. You can follow us on our Instagram and e-mail us at [email protected] with any questions.

Neal will be here all day and is available to answer questions, respond to feedback, and explain why Marines love Crayons so much. Jeff is on call for any questions about machining / injection molding / coffee roasting (it’s a science, not an art).

We’re still working on the injection molds for the snap-in plates for the Sordins / Razors / ComTacs / etc. They should be ready by the end of this month if things go as planned. Any funds raised right now will just go right back into the development costs. Your help is appreciated.

We’re happy to answer any questions you have or just shoot the shit. Thanks for letting us crash the place! -NF team

This solution to an Ultralight backpacking lantern was so light that it didn't even register on my digital scale. For just a few dollars from Amazon, powered by the USB battery pack you already have, this is a great solution for general lighting.

There are dozens of versions of this on Amazon, but here is the specific one you see in the video, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ID5DIH0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I purchased two of these egg night lights. They light up with a tap and are rechargeable and portal. I keep one in my room so I can see her when I get her in the bassinet, and one in the nursery for feeding and diaper changes. They have been a lifesaver in the middle of the night.

It’s LED and is touch on/off. Touch to dim/make brighter. And touch to go from white light to yellow night light. It’s portable so we can bring it with us. And then we give it to him when we are in the car when we travel at night so he has a light so it isn’t too dark.

Going inside closets? Just grab some basic Light-Sensor LED lights off amazon, stick them in the closet. Door open - Light comes on, door closes light goes off. Done.

Here is one I would recommend. LED, Rechargeable, Tool-less, cheap.

u/FancyWeather · 6 pointsr/BabyBumps

Keep supplies within reach of the changing station. In my experience you can’t really step away or lock the baby down. I use a dresser and the top drawer is diapers and supplies and it works great. I keep wipes on top. A regular trash can with a lid has worked fine so far but we need to empty it daily or every other day to keep the smell at bay (just on breastmilk so far).

Definitely get blackout curtains.

We like this nightlight. It taps on and off and is portable/rechargeable. And adjustable.

Can I suggest some really affordable lighting fixtures that activate with motion? I just took the leap after putting off fixing the lighting in my own closet for a year. I told myself it would be expensive and trick to accomplish.

Literally took $50 and 20 minutes to install these. Now I can see things and it fixes the problem until I decide whether I want to invest in can lights.

I've downloaded Electric Sheep which is a pretty damn good visualizer, and I've got this sweet ass tapestry with this sweet ass light, and when you put the light on the auto cycle through all the colors, it plays with the colors on the tapestry and it fucking morphs and it's ridiculous. then as for tunes I'll throw on some Boards of Canada, Starfucker, Grateful Dead or lately if I'm really trying to get weird I'll throw on some Gnod or Mr. Elevator and the Brain Hotel or some really old Floyd.

I'll also watch one of a few movies, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and for some odd reason, my friends and I have had a trip tradition of watching ninja assassin because it's visually nuts and there's not too much to keep up with story wise. I also watched some it's always sunny, which was pretty much the funniest thing that has ever happened to me at the time. I only got through one episode (Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games) before I really felt the need to go for a walk.

I can't game very well, I tried playing halo 2 and all I did was walk around the first level and not shoot anyone. Geometry wars was pretty cool though.

But to be honest don't work on staying focused on anything, I just let the weird take me where it takes me

u/CaptRon25 · 5 pointsr/flashlight

Not possible to have an electrician wire a light fixture in your closet? Perhaps you wouldn't be asking if it were possible.

There are these, but you have to charge them with via usb. They are on magnetic strips, but maybe you could hook up a usb powerbank along side it so you wouldn't have to pull it off the ceiling once a week to recharge it.

u/BigBlackHawks · 5 pointsr/pregnant

We did our room for everything. The other person woke up anyways with the crying so it really didn’t matter with the changing where it was. Also you want the changing part to be quick. Some babies need their diaper changed before the feeding and others need it after the feeding and sometimes you have to do both. It’s just so much easier to do it in the same room.

From my limited knowledge (ie dash cam install, LED lights install), you either need to use an existing source like just upgrading the lights that are already there, OR find an existing 12v in the car to plug into. Depending on the year of the car, there are 12v connections near rear view mirror, below the center screen right side (so by passenger's left foot), in the glove box (older models), and by rear lift gate. Probably others somewhere but I dont know all of them.

I have not done the work myself, but my dash cam was hooked into the passenger footwell 12v (which is NOT an "always on" 12v), and a switch was routed hidden in the small storage area under the screen.

Some people also just buy lighting kits from Evannex or others to install into existing areas.

Others use battery-powered motion sensor LED strips like this one.

u/drewtangclan · 5 pointsr/Drugs

My little brother bought this multicolor light projector on amazon, and it's amazing

Also, not sure what your budget is, but the Philips Hue lighting system is pretty incredible: here's the official website, and here's an awesome demonstration video

This toilet light is the answer.

You can set it to red, which is less sleep disruptive. It automatically turns on and lights up the toilet if you enter the bathroom when it is dark. The batteries last forever. And it's under $10.

Motion sensing, battery-operated LED lights with a stick-on backing. I bought these for under my kitchen cabinets and they're great. It only turns on when it's 1) it's dark and 2) when I'm close by, and it shuts off almost as soon as I walk away. This one runs off AAA batteries, so there's no electrical bill. It looks like OP bought a few of the longer strips and stuck them under the railing (out of sight until turned on).

I use them as under cabinet lighting. However, if you want something more task-oriented Mr Beams is bright as shit.

Honestly, I've thought about the bed pop-tent (the 2nd option) before. It's actually bigger than the expensive version. I think the pricier version is mostly a rip-off, anyway. It's pretty small, would get old fast, doesn't allow for sitting up, and would take up a ton of space. A lot of the high-end features (mood lighting, soft cushions, soundscape) are super easy to simulate.

Here are some possible ways to simulate the same environment in a bed or closet. All of these options helped get me through a rough bout with post-partum depression:

  • I highly recommend mynoise.net for the world's most comforting and huge variety of white noise, nature sounds, tonal drones, and binaural sounds. Free! I use it so often that I ended up donating, which I never do.

  • Amazon has lots of cheap options for mood lights that project colors and ocean waves, with speaker hookups to play sounds through your laptop or phone. This one looks promising, but there are a lot of options.

  • A cool mist essential oil diffuser can add aromatherapy. I have something similar to this next to my bed.

  • Finally, you could invest in the comfiest possible bedding. A feather bolster, down comforter, excellent pillows, etc.

With the combination of the above, you could probably have a much nicer, more personalized "sanctuary" for much less than the pod costs. You could also think about hanging pretty bedcurtains, draping twinkle lights or silk flowers, or other touches that appeal to you. Also try /r/cozyplaces for some cool inspiration. Good luck!

I got this wrap last week https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Wrap-CuddleBug-4-Postpartum/dp/B00OJVNSFA and it's really great and easy to use. The ergobaby is too big for a newborn even with the insert. She doesn't like it. She loves the wrap though and sleeps the whole time she's in it!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1S7B60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_wfAWzb10HY1CE This night light. It's rechargeable. You just tap it and you can dim it. Also has two light settings. A warmer light and a whiter light. Perfect for all those night feeds!

What else... A billion burp cloths. Mats for the changing pad so we don't have change the cover as frequently. Thicker receiving blankets for swaddling rather than the muslin ones. They're so much easier to swaddle with because they're smaller and thicker. The muslin cloths are good to have around for other things though.

That's all I can think of for now besides the obvious stuff.

u/tallnangry · 3 pointsr/gundeals

This is the lowest I've ever seen these go for.

If you're seeking a cheaper option, maybe for yourself or an extra to take friends to the range with, or want some color in your life, I use these as a range officer daily.

I'm not affiliated with them, I just like their muffs. I am highly skeptical about the 34 noise-reduction rating, but with the Noisefighter gel pads, I have full confidence in my ear pro. I can't hear shit and always end up yelling at my coworkers, but it's a range, not daycare.

These are all things that not only I love but a lot of people in my bumper month group really liked as well, and that I didn't think to ask for in my registry and wish I did:

VAVA nightlight
USB charged, this touch operated nightlight was my best friend in the hospital and at home for late night feeding

Love to Dream swaddle
Amazing swaddle that's super easy to use and lets baby self soothe with their hands

Merlins magic sleepsuit
When baby outgrows swaddling (which happens fast!) this helps muffle the startle reflex to keep baby asleep.

hushh portable sound machine

beaming buggy
Plays music, lights up and has white noise. Somehow is total magic.

Wall art: I actually made these myself by purchasing downloadable clip art from Etsy and throwing them together in a way that I liked. I liked the idea of having unique woodland wall art that wasn't the same as everyone else's.

Here's how I organize my closet. Hope it helps with some inspiration!

Shirts and coats are all hung up in order of color. Nothing fancy or special with the hangers; originally I was going to pick up some wooden hangers, but ultimately decided against it when I determined that I would need to decrease my wardrobe size to accommodate the increased width of the hangers.

All my shoes are distributed in Ikea Bissa Shoe Cabinets. The quality is what is to be expected with Ikea, but since they're basically the only major company that makes something like this it has to be accepted. You can fit 4 pairs of shoes per section, so with 6 sections available that's a total of 24 shoes that can be stored - more than enough for most men. I don't own any boots, so I haven't developed a storage method for those, but I have seen others place their boots on top of the cabinet. If you don't like that you might be able to make/order a boot box and slide that into the cabinet.

Ties are on a tie hanger. I don't love this thing, but since it does the job well enough it has yet to be replaced.

Work bag goes on the right wall. My watch travel boxes, cufflinks, shirt stays, and other miscellaneous things go on top of the right cabinet.

Baseball cap(s) go above the door on little hooks. I also installed an automatic light since the closet did not have anything wired up. The OxyLED T-02S has motion tracing, an automatic timer, and is rechargeable - which is basically everything needed for a closet. I'm definitely a fan of this little guy, especially considering the price.

I know you only asked for a closet shot, but I decided to include my dresser so you can get a full idea of my clothing organization. Surprise, surprise, everything has a group and is organized according to its space needs.

I bought these for the bathrooms in the house. Put another in the kitchen and in the hallways. They are only on at night. Use virtually no power. And the light is just enough to see.

Highly recommend.

This one is $1

But a review says it runs hot, sooo

u/DMUSER · 2 pointsr/DIY

Try these

Plug it in to the outlet, run the cord up the wall to under the cabinet and mount the transformer box there, then run the LED strip to whereever you want. It's been a while but I believe that you can control the lights with the remote...or by unplugging them.

They make switches that would replace that standard outlet, but it would leave you with a single outlet and a switch. The single outlet would then be controlled by that switch(if you wired it that way).

Depending on your location and local building codes that could actually be a code violation to install in a kitchen.

Yep! I used these.

Thanks! It's a Birch butcher block countertop I picked up from IKEA. My counter sizes worked out (purely luck) so that I cut the countertop to fit each side and only had about 3in leftover.

Overhead cabinets are mounted via plusnuts in the roof ribs and along the wall. I selected some holes I thought looks good for mounting, installed the plusnuts, templated out the hole locations on cardboard, then applied that to a piece of wood that I could start framing the cabinets from. All my wood joinery is done with a Kreg jig.

Lights are these: http://amzn.to/2gfkkgz I bought a lot of puck lights and returned a lot of puck lights before finally settling on these. They're super thin, surface mount, 12v and dimmable. They put out a nice warmish light. I put a couple in my last build as sort of a test and was really happy with them and am planning to use these primarily in the new build.

Have to agree about the motion activated toilet light. I just got one and I love it.

Looks good. I recommend a few changes

The that asus mobo has aura which will let you control the rgb LEDs on the g.skill ram and any asus gpu you connect to the mobo. The asus 1080Ti I put is a placeholder until more cards are released, don't get a blower style card!

The case I am more of a fan of, but that's preference. Not sure if you need it but to control all the NZXT hardware you might need this: NZXT HUE+ RGB Color Changing LED Controller - White + Purple( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTG0XLV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Dfn6ybRJQN08E

I would get a 650 psu

I bought this and just placed it toward the back and center. 3m adhesive seems to hold on the roof. The Light has a strong magnet and can be removed to recharge. I leave it on AUTO and it comes on at night when it senses movement. Very easy install.

My kitchen cabinets have puck lights inside of them. The cabinets doors have glass panes. The puck lights are similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/Cabinet-Lighting-Accessories-Included-Kitchen/dp/B00YMNS4YA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1549541746&sr=8-5&keywords=puck+lights

These lights were controlled by a regular light switch. I changed the light switch to a Lutron Caseta switch. I placed a vibration sensor on the inside of the door. So now, when I open the door, the light in the cabinet will come on, if there is not enough light in the room. There is a Hue motion sensor in the kitchen, and I use the light sensor, in the Hue product, to determine if there is enough light in the room.

So the bulb that is in it right now states it's a 125 Volts/30 Watts bulb. I know the size has a base E17. I'm looking to buy this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YMNS4YA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9DjqzbCAXQYH8. There is not a lot information on the microwave itself. It's made by Magic chef and it's an old model which they don't support anymore. The microwave works great. Just that the undercarriage light was horribly designed and no matter how bright I make the light bulbs in the current position it won't cast light over the entire range unless I add lights in the appropriate area. So can I buy those 3 pucks and then just splice the main wire into where the current bulb sockets are? Worst case scenario I just run all the wires as designed to connect to a normal outlet but I thought it would be nice to come how have the microwave still control the light instead of using the toggle switch that come with the lighting package.

Two settings for brightness, and two settings for color - one is normal white and one is warm/soft (i.e. better for nighttime).

Also ask if they're buying anything new for themselves, their houses, or cars, etc. You may be able to help them out with getting better products and save them from getting ripped off.

My grandmother was considering buying this outlet cover light, for $10, plus shipping & handling (for one), but I managed to find this nightlight that comes in packs and looks great for basically the same price.

I bought these lights and placed them throughout the house, though I'm thinking of switching to something like this instead.

I can navigate the whole house safely in the dark that way. It's really very nice.

>I have to step over baby toys, clothes piles, phone chargers, etc.

Is it a lighting problem or just a matter of tidying up?

If you wire in lights, I'd do some modern can lights on a dimmer. I don't know if you actually need them, though, as much as you need navigational lighting like I linked to.

I'm usually fairly impressed by the creativity that people on this sub put into their collections, so I thought I'd share mine in the hopes that it might inspire some other people!

My wife and I decided to merge our collections and put them somewhere in the living room as a display piece. We decided on the bookshelf next to the entertainment center, but it was a bit dark. To fix this, I grabbed a set of LED tracklights from Amazon, a handy dremel (probably optional) and sunk them into the underside of the top to create some lighting on the cheap. The set I used cost about $25 and can be found here.

These are plugged into a switch-controlled outlet, which makes it easy to turn the amiibo display on and off - but it was starting to get a bit crowded as we picked up our favorites from Wave 3. A random stop into Home Goods later and we walked out with this plastic spice rack that we were pretty sure would hold your average amiibo. As it turned out, it fit them all perfectly – from Roi DaDiDou to the WFT – and the metallic-y coating on the bottom gives the LEDs a cool ambient light effect when they shine down.

The rack we picked up was the InterDesign Twillo Stadium... although I kinda wish we saw the flat Twillo Stadium Spice Rack since it’d be more scalable as our collection grows ;-)

Anyway, that's about it. If you have any other questions about how we pulled it together, just post 'em here.

u/harrynyce · 1 pointr/Ubiquiti

I was denied this luxury, as it didn't pass the WAF checks, so our site is disabled. We have Hue lights that work as a backup, in a pinch, or some cheapo LED plugged in all over the house, so you can mostly roam at night without screaming HEY GOOGLE, turn on the damn lights! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DLLTDLG/
