Watch Winder For Rolex Automatic... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBP0WA5?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Winds the watch.

Here's a smaller one if you have just one watch. You can pop it in there when not in use and it spins the watch around. Keeps it wound.

Hey guys! Here’s the link for the watch box!

JQUEEN Six Watch Winders 7 Storages with Three Quiet Mabuchi Motors https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LN8VLD2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zE11CbTXJJ5VE

It was a bday gift from the parents. From reading, I learned to not always keep the winder running - risking overwinding the watches, but it’s super swagalicious when you got it spinning and a fine lady finds herself in your room for a glass of Cabernet.

Some mechanical watches aren't powered by a battery, they're powered by an off balanced wheel that rotates (winding a mainspring) when the users arm moves. Upon death, the watch will stop moving, and the main spring will uncoil resulting in the watch stopping. Knowing how long the mainspring will run the watch can be used to give a reasonably good estimate of the time of death.

Devices like this are used to keep the watch wound when the owner isn't wearing a watch or is wearing a different watch.

Your wrists.

But [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N6W0ZU4/ref=s9_simh_gw_g241_i2_r?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-4&pf_rd_r=00XBM5C2CA6W9FDK7RXG&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2090149782&pf_rd_i=desktop) doesn't seem too bad. Good reviews, 20 bucks more than 100 and it's got 4 watches with space to hold more.

Affordable is relative, but I have this one and it's been great so far: http://www.amazon.com/WOLF-270002-Heritage-Single-Winder/dp/B0055OCSTC

I don't know anything about Versa, but they're a good bit cheaper.

That is the box I bought. A word of warning, one side of the winder did not work when it came, the glue had come off, it was easy to fix so it wasn't a big deal. It works great for me and its a great price. Leather like material wraps the whole box.

>The only downside is it doesn't have a quickset date, which means the date is usually wrong...

thats like a $50 problem if you want to just get a watch winder

Nicer single ones are $100+ but that's a fraction of the cost of your watch

Edit: sorry for interjecting, beautiful watch by the way

u/popper444 · 3 pointsr/Watches

Not OP, but I believe this is the winder pictured. There is also a 2 winder variation available.

these things are like 14 x 18 x 24 CM Amazon Unless you live in a cardboard box (which is plausible since New york rent prices) I'm sure you can find a little place.

Efficiency! Here's my favorite example of engineering-gone-wrong. This thing is for winding watches that wind themselves.

It's a $60 winder from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P1C55W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Add in some UV LED's:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D7R1PKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Some progress shots from the project:

This weekend I plan to add some LED's inside the lid of a watch box that I also grabbed from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077LFRQR2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm quite satisfied with the outcome.

u/Cameron_Allan · 2 pointsr/Watches

I have recently acquired some automatic watches, and I'm really into them. From what I have looked at, winders tend to be ridiculously expensive. I have found this one which isn't too expensive, and seems decent. Anyone who has more experience than me, what do you think? Any other suggestions?

Edit: Fixed link

Edit 2 (even though only one person saw this): found a much cheaper alternative. Will probably buy this if theres no response so I can get the sale (currently $63).

Edit 3: reviews are negative, not sure about that one. If anyone responds, I'm also interested in a watch box that has winders as well as spaces for other watches.

Do you wind your pocket watch every morning? I use something like this to keep my watch ready for action. I love automatic watches but that seems like a pain.

u/YouAreWhoYouKnow · 2 pointsr/Watches

Personally, I use an array of Accuratic winders; they're (relatively) inexpensive and can be linked together, so when I make a new purchase I can just link one on and it looks like one continuous piece of hardware.

If you're looking for one for a gift, though, I second /u/irbilldozer 's recommendation to look for a Wolf. While I don't have one myself, I know a few friends have them and love them.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Watches

I was having this same issue and my girlfriend bought me this basic watch winder for our anniversary. (I also got her a ladies' Seiko 5 automatic so we can both benefit from it.)

Gauging interest for a "watch accessories" lot, which will include:

I got one of these because the yellow one was like 10 bucks cheaper than the other three colors at the time. Has a power adapter or will run on battery, is expandable by clipping multiple boxes together with clippy pieces and has run flawlessly for 18 months now.

Here's the black version, but Amazon sells red, white and blue ones if you want to get all 'Murrica!

Thanks! I believe it is this one:

My watch winder arrived this evening.

I’ve never owned more than 1 mechanical watch at a time so this is exciting!

Watching the second hands on each watch as the watch rotates is fascinating. It’s also perfectly silent and I even ran the compass test to make sure it wouldn’t magnetise my watches.

W2C

u/mydarkerside · 1 pointr/Watches

I bought this one and have been happy. It's got a few different time settings and directional settings. I found some settings wouldn't wind the watch enough, but now have found the ideal setting. I do have 2 automatic watches so it works well, but I'd still get a double at this price range even if you only have 1.

Ideally he wants to build a walking robot from scratch so I'll be on the MIT robotics courses with him. His end goal: a transforming walking robot.

For me: another watch and watch winder.

I have this one I found on Amazon.

Versa Quad Watch Winder in Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H9KWSWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mYOSzbW8GBDP9

It has everything you were looking for, multiple settings, can hold 4 watches, is decently priced, and is pretty quiet.

u/mrnicewatch3 · 1 pointr/RepTime

Did a bunch of research and yes no clear consensus but decided to try it since I hate resetting the date and time everytime I wear a different watch in my rotation. Some of them have some intermittent issues when I’m trying to do it too so I have to pull the crown out and back in to get it just right so figured I’ll probably break it setting it before this winder does. I got this one from amazon and the craftsmanship blew me away and it’s super quiet like I don’t even hear it running.. Warning: I'm totally new to this. I need a watch winder, but I'm not sure what kind. My girlfriend bought me two watches that don't have batteries, but are mechanical and need motion to keep going. I guess you might call them automatic? But I can shake them back and forth for a few seconds and they will tick for a minute or so before the little gear stops spinning. I bought a watch winder, but it only spins in one direction, slowly, and doesn't wind them at all. So I'm pretty sure I need a winder that is bidirectional (just goes back and forth), but they all seem to have low Turns Per Day (TPD). I have been looking at getting this winder (Amazon link) since it's bidirectional, but I don't know if that will work for these.

Any information you guys can give me would be great. I'd like to start being able to wear watches that tell the time!

u/Glusch · 1 pointr/Watches

Maybe this box, this box or this box?

Any of them combined with this winder would hold your budget. That winder is generally considered a great winder. Doesn't look to special but does the work it's supposed to do without any hassle.

u/0TreyTrey0 · 1 pointr/Watches

I'm not exactly sure. My grandma gave me that too haha. But I have seen a lot of cool ones on amazon. There are some relatively cheap motorized winding cases on amazon too if you have automatics.

look for a titanium watch bezel & band with a sapphire crystal. bullet proof is not cheap - that combo of materials can set you back half a thousand dollars. i'm wearing such a combination now daily for 30 years working at a contracting company, and my watch still looks near new. there are new cheaper ceramic materials that may hold up well, just keep in mind while ceramic is very scratch resistant, it still can shatter - I've done it to a ceramic knife.

true water proof/resistant is also expensive - anything less than 100 meter rating is worthless if you lap swim or shower with a watch on. also whoever services your watch (replace the battery or adjust lubricates gears) has to separately test for water proofing and you may require fresh gaskets every 5 years, so owning a water proof watch over the longer term costs more in labor and service.

bottom line is if all you can afford is $200, you are better off buying a new cheap plastic watch every few years. also you may want to rethink your watch - like you say, you already have the time on your cellphone, so these days your watch should be more about style than function, as it's function is already redundant. i'm often seen wearing a steel bezel sapphire crystal silicon band 100m watch, simply because i enjoy it's styling more than my 30 year old bullet proof watch.

I'm not saying to buy this particular watch, but the combination of features I discussed can be found here; http://www.ebay.com/itm/230749766230 the benefit of a self winder to battery is you only have to open such a watch up every 5-10 years for gasket replacement. if you don't wear the watch often, you can buy a separate winder that basically keeps the watch on time alive while not on your wrist. http://www.amazon.com/Versa-Automatic-Single-Watch-Winder/dp/B005VI37NS again, just an example - i don't own the linked products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFfrgiLEDPI

The Time Tutelary is cheap and cheerful. Above that you can pay almost anything you want, but you'll get more or less the same winder inside.

u/johnwclark · 1 pointr/Watches

No problem, I think I asked this on the semi-weekly and someone pointed me there.

I am pretty sure the SARB has hand winding, those have a 6R15 which is about the top end of the movements that go in the non "grand" versions. I used to have a SARB065, but I sold it since I never wore it.

Every brand of winder is a bit different, as are every watch movements requirements. The CHIYODA I own, has 4 speeds, and 3 direction modes. I clocked it out and the stated TPD was way over estimated in the instructions. The 7S movements ( like your SKX ) are the 2nd speed and bi-directional. I am guessing the SARB is about the same ( but I would hand wind it ). I sort of experimented with it, but I knew they were bi-directional, and speed 1 wasn't keeping it wound, I would take it off the winder and it would die before the winder would run again. When I put it on 2, I could take it off the charger for hours and it was still running. You don't want to turn it higher than needed, since it is just adding wear to the watch.

There are some websites that detail the settings needed for specific movements. This was the one I used -- http://orbita.com/2010_web/NEW/WatchDatabase.htm
