Respect for wanting to help people out! :) And for valuing your own time too, doing all those steps takes up time. Quick heads up though: the P2 charcoal/red can be had for ~$77 on Amazon with prime shipping and easy replacements, and similar for the black Round at ~$85. So your target demographic might be smaller than expected. If you're already factoring that in, great! And I hope you didn't mind be saying.

Yeah that's a pretty good price. If you want a speaker on your watch though for taking/making calls you can get the ZenWatch 2 for the same price and its new instead of refurbished http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Smartwatch-Retail-Packaging-Silver/dp/B01F28LIDC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1463972277&sr=8-3&keywords=asus+zenwatch+2

Maybe Martian Notifier would be of interest? See

6 days on a charge, $48, watch time always visible, iOS and android. Personally I'll prolly use my pebble until it stops, after which I'll look at Martian or go back to a regular seiko/citizen.

Well, if you don't mind being on AW 1, you could consider the LG G Watch (it's square though, and comes without heartrate monitor). If you want a more recent version of the OS (or hate square watches), several options are the Huawei smartwatch 2, Motorola Moto 360 2nd gen, or the LG watch R.

I picked up this white G-Shock recently. The band is not good, though. The white coating comes off. I'm in the process of replacing it with a white NATO strap.

It's solar-powered, so it will basically never need a battery replacement. The "Multi Band 6" refers to its ability to recieve time sync from six different radio towers placed around the world, which base their own time on a nearby atomic clock. Hence, "solar atomic." It will never poop out, and it's time will always be accurate. Pretty cool technology all around. You can leave it in a drawer for a year and forget about it, and it's back up and running after a few minutes of sunshine. G-Shocks are also highly water resistant -- customarily to 200M, which is quite good for a sub-$100 timepiece.

Arguably stylish digital watches aren't that easy to come by, but here's an interesting one with an e-ink display. And you can always rely on Nixon to do something retro-futuristic.

And of course, there's the Pebble Smartwatch.

You can get downright classy with brushed stainless steel and a genuine leather band.

u/qporzk · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Martian-Watches-Notifier-Smartwatch-Black/dp/B00IGJ67R2

Standard band size, so I could put a leather band on. Cheap enough that I can bang it into walls without caring. Battery lasts about a week. The software is old and doesn't get updated, but it gets the job done.

u/almightywhacko · 3 pointsr/pebble

You could buy a watch from Amazon, as long as you only want a red or a black one.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EULMBZC/ref=cm_sw_su_dp

Other colors are available, but they are from Amazon resellers and they are generally offered at extremely inflated prices. Make sure you choose a "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" watch to avoid dealing with any reseller BS.

thanks so much for pointing out that sports dryer is on sale - I was looking at it recently!

HOWEVER: being the cheapskate I am, I found 2 potentially better options depending on tax, etc:

  1. I just noticed shipping was like $15... kinda sucky... so on a whim I checked Amazon and it's the same price, but with free shipping!

(no, there's no referral code in that amazon link, you can check it for yourself)

  2. Alternatively, you can enter promo code SERP5 on hockeymonkey (your original link) for 5% off.

Just posting to try and help.. I may order one of these now!

There was a listing for both the Gold and Silver polished rounds on Amazon US. I believe the Silvers are all gone but there still seems to be some Gold ones left. I payed US$129.99, however they are going for a bit more right now. (Still less than the US$200 Kickstarter price)
As far as I know, these Pebbles were manufactured for the Kickstarter rewards but were auctioned off to this Amazon seller when Fitbit bought most of the company.

Maybe you should get a breathing monitor to ease your worry? I have this one that clips to the diaper http://www.amazon.com/Levana-Clip-On-Portable-Movement-Monitor/dp/B00E8NGRUW/ref=pd_cp_ba_1

I havent properly used it since baby isnt born :) but i tested it and it is loud and beeps if there is no movement (breathing) for 20 seconds. I also took a cpr class to make myself feel more prepared for a possible worst case scenario.

Also, she is so cute. I just want to snuggle her!

Check out the LG Urbane Watch. It does everything you listed, except typing text messages, only voice type.

May I suggest this instead. Looks good and also serves a purpose.

u/streptococci · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Even if you aren't coherent right now when you first wake up, having a baby really does change things for most people. I used to flail around and throw covers all over the place, but now I sleep nearly motionless and the covers are always untouched when my son is laying in the bed next to me. If you or your husband are paranoid, get something like this. I have one and it definitely provides peace of mind.

It's actually kind of crazy to find somebody so similar to me. I thought intrusive thoughts were something everybody got all the time, but I guess not. (I think Reddit made me think this, lol)

I had always have intrusive thoughts like "I could easily push that guy in front of the train, he'd have no chance" or "those parents aren't paying attention, I could grab that toddler and be gone before they had any idea". Of course I would NEVER act on these, and I think that's the difference between "normal" intrusive thoughts, and a crazy person. At least I hope it is, haha.

And yah, with my mom. Man, every picture I take I think it might be last. Every time I say goodbye.. Last night on the way home from her house I literally started crying because I thought "what if I never see her again?".

Again, I tend to think these sorts of thought are normal, especially after having my first baby. I'm hyper aware of how much I need her help, and how much I want her to know my future babies. Also, her mom, my grandma, died at age 69, and my mom had an "episode" a few years ago akin to a stroke. She's on meds now but if ever she doesn't answer her phone I panicked and call her husband, check her Facebook. It's so dumb.

I think with the new baby, it's just that I have never loved anything so much, so I'm so paranoid. It's interesting to know Post Partum OCD is a thing though. I intend to read more about mitigating that over the weekend. Meanwhile, I would totally recommend the Levana/Snuza baby monitor or something similar. It beeps with every movement (i.e. Breath, when they're sleeping). I got so much more sleep after I got this. Best money I ever spent. It says not to use it in the car, but I did anyway, just knowing there might be extra beeps from the movement of the car. That way I was able to stop pulling over to check breathing.

If you ever just want to talk, let me know!

u/mxag · 2 pointsr/livesound

First thought was a smart bulb or outlet controlled from a phone app.

Quick google search came up with a Notti which you can customize to turn on for a notification from a bluetooth connected phone.

It's a Garmin Index Smart Scale. I like how fast and accurate it is--it's way better than other electronic scales I have tried--but I also recognize that it is more expensive than the competition while providing fewer features. I often see the Withings scale be recommended as an alternative.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 so I like that the scale is Garmin too; it puts all my data into one place.

u/solace18 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

It's the NOTTI light that will change colors or flash when you get a notification.

u/ZaggahZiggler · 2 pointsr/C25K

Pebble Smartwatch for $50 this is 1st gen, there is a 2nd, but unfortunately fitbit bought them out so no 3rd in the works. I have both generations and they still work great. waterproof, pairs with phone, can read texts, control music. they arent touch screen, the screen uses tech similar to kindle. nice and simple. also comes with apps that are free and user created so you can have a c25k app on there and have it vibrate if you want to tell you when to walk/run instead of looking.

u/Petninja · 2 pointsr/OutOfTheLoop

Get a little fold out bluetooth keyboard. They're pretty cheap, small when folded up, and if you are the kind of person who wants to do a lot of typing when on your phone/tablet they're quite handy. I have one that folds up to be the same size as my phone, and unfolds to be almost the size of a standard keyboard (If I line it up with the enter key it almost touches capslock and the width is almost identical to the distance from space bar to 7).

They make Bluetooth lights/speakers that enable exactly what you're looking for. Here's an example

u/andrewthemexican · 1 pointr/hockey

I have one of these and I love it. It's the best thing possible for proactively keeping them clean and smelling nice.

Now, when I first got it what I did was soak/bathe my gear for a couple hours in my shower (stinking it in the process). As /u/rametta4 said, you can take out the velcro inserts of shinpads and wash them, but the rest of my stuff (minus skates, helmet, and gloves) I soaked/washed in the tub.

Glove can be rinsed out with hot water thoroughly, but do not apply soap as it could dry out the leather even more. Helmet avoid using soap as well as you would not chemicals dripping down into your eyes mid-game. Skates I just sprayed the hell out of with Lysol.

Apartment living here. When I was in college my apartment had its own bathroom connected to each room. My stuff was stored in the bathroom. Currently have a 2 bedroom and I use the spare room to put the legs on the ground, hang the chest and pants, put a fan near the glove, blocker, skates, mask, and bag on the ground opened. I'm looking into this dryer. Anyone else use this? If so can you fit everything and is it worth it?

So, I wanted to get a smartwatch (Specifically, this one is what I was looking at.)

A friend of mine had told me that there was a very good chance I'd buy it, then find myself leaving it at home most days. He suggested that I buy a cheap $30 watch, then if I find that I like it, I should get a smartwatch.

So my question is: Any recommendations for a ~$30 watch? I know literally nothing about watches other than what I've already stated.

u/charonpdx · 1 pointr/pebble

Not reliably. Amazon gets more stock every so often, not sure how: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAJK1A1

Of course, there's always eBay.

u/etihw_retsim · 1 pointr/AndroidWear

That's definitely NOT the 2. This is.

u/burshturs · 1 pointr/WearOS

Thanks for the pic. It's definitely gorgeous, but I realized that it's really not my style. I'm not a fan of good. I ended up ordering this one from Amazon: Fossil Men's Gen 4 Explorist HR Stainless Steel and Leather Touchscreen Smartwatch, Color: Blue, Brown (Model: FTW4016) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GB2Z377/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TH9.BbVBRTSH7
It was $175 Last night when I ordered it, I see that now it's $199.

u/del_rio · 1 pointr/WearOS

Quick follow up:

The battery has actually been progressively better in the last 3 days! It seems like you need to give it a few days for the SoC to understand the capacity of the battery. Now it'll last 24 hours with moderate usage, mostly default settings.

Now my only beef is that the crown doesn't work in some apps a lot of the time. Most notably, I generally can't scroll in Todoist...except for 10% of the time seemingly at random? I suspect it's a software issue on Fossil's end, it'd be awesome if they figure it out but I doubt it.

My conclusion remains about the same. FWIW, the Gen 4 was just on a decent sale that seems to have ended, but it's still $170 on Amazon for some reason. I personally price matched with Target and picked it up within the hour.

Ugh unexpected car expenses are the wooooorst. I'm so sorry :-( There are 2 other versions of the Snuza that are cheaper. Instead of vibrating after 15 seconds and beeping after 20, there's an $80 version where you can set it to beep after 15, 18, or 20 seconds; and a $67 version that beeps after 15 seconds.

I know it's expensive but the peace of mind it gives is so worth it!

Do you type in landscape on the phone screen? If not than maybe the link I posted would be better than nothing.

Also you could carry around this in your pocket: foldable Bluetooth keyboard

There was also a Kickstarter I believe for a slider keyboard that was attached with 3m tape to the back but I couldn't find it nor do I know if it was successful.

For me I can type just as quick as someone proficient at using a virtual keyboard with two thumbs while I swipe. I use Google keyboard which works really well for me with the auto correct turned on. If you want to try swiping start with typing all your small words and leaving larger words to pecking then eventually you'll slowly start typing every single word in it. Google's keyboard also will learn new words if you type them a couple times. It takes about a week to get the hang of it and see it's value and a few months to build muscle memory for the common words you type.

If you want notifications and nothing else, there's the Martian Notifier or a more limited cheap Chinese smartwatch or for something super simple the Razer Nabu X.

But I would just go with the Pebble as these devices have no apps.

I've had this little rechargeable keyboard for several months with no issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRCKK1Y/ But it's main draw for me is that it's portable and folds up. Folding is probably a drawback if you don't actually want that feature.

The problem is it doesn't come set with the US country code even though it says "US Edition." So Samsung Pay is NOT on the watch and cannot be installed without setting the country code correctly, which is a little bit involved, not just a setting in the menu.

Some have said that it's actually the international edition of the watch and that it won't have warranty coverage. I don't know if that's true, but there's something at least slightly shady there. I kept mine after changing the country code, but I can't recommend that seller to anyone else.

If you search "Samsung Pay" here, you'll see many others in the same situation, also in the reviews on that page. So as long as your refurbs aren't coming from the same seller, hopefully you are OK.

They have actually fluctuated quite a bit based on CamelCamelCamel tracking of the prices.

Need to filter for the past 3 months to get an accurate graph but I would say you ordered on a good day.

But a citizen looks like a decent watch. An apple watch looks like a kid's toy.

this thing looks really nice to the point that people compliment me on it before realizing it is a smart watch. I paid $250 for it when it was brand new.

I forgot to mention the looks aspect. The apple watch also looks like shit unless you overpay even more. The garmins and fitbits and look good in a sporty and utilitarian way; exactly what their market is looking for.

Interestingly - this was just published: Fitbit, Garmin and other activity band makers improved their shipments by the double digits, while the smartwatch world actually shrank

if you have iOS, don't buy an android wear device at all. Android Wear devices will not have as deep of a connection to iOS and all you will get is notification mirroring and the time. You will not get actionable notifications (reply to texts, answer calls, control music, etc) and you will not get fitness data either.

If you own an Android device, then sure, get a cheap watch, but I would advise against the original Moto 360. It will not get any more updates from where it is right now and it is severely underpowered. Plus, its battery life is reportedly not great and the back panel (next to your wrist) is cheap plastic that has a habit of cracking if your wrists aren't big enough.

If you are looking for something to just tell the time and mirror notifications, a Martian Notifier is much cheaper, mirrors notifications, and uses two batteries. One is a typical watch battery for the face. The other powers a the small screen within and is charged via micro USB.
