Wii Virtual Console - Tons and tons of good old-school games. It's not quite as convenient as the Wii U virtual console, because you have to go into Wii mode to play them and you can't play them with the Wii U gamepad, but the selection on the Wii's Virtual Console is far, far better than on the Wii U, and at the rate Nintendo is adding games to the Wii U Virtual Console, it looks like it'll probably stay that way for a long time. Keep in mind that if Nintendo adds a game to the Wii U Virtual Console that you already have on the Wii Virtual Console, they'll give you a discount on it to entice you to upgrade, so don't hold off just because you're hoping the game you want will come to the Wii U Virtual Console if it's already on the Wii Virtual Console.
Edit: Well, damn. Today Nintendo announced what is kinda' a game-changer - they're releasing Wii games directly for download on the Wii U's eShop for $20 each ($10 each on the week they're first released). The first game, Super Mario Galaxy 2, is out now, and the next two games will be Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch-Out!!
All three of those games are extremely good, and have been selling for far more than the asking price (Metroid Prime Trilogy was $60-100 used before this news). If you're looking for cheap Wii U games and never got these titles on the Wii, Nintendo has just dropped the gauntlet with a deal you can't refuse.
Fire Emblem Awakening, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Donkey Kong Country: TF and a few Amiibos. I already have a backlog of Wii U games such as both Bayonettas, Smash and Hyrule Warriors to get through.

I was tempted to get this, I'm not overly familiar with Animal Crossing but as a Mario Party-type game it seemed like a decent addition to my library at the price. Then I looked it up on Metacritic. That is bad.
As a side note, for people more interested in this than me, a set of 3 Animal Crossing amiibo is also deeply discounted right now.
Basically if you got one wii remote (or wii u pro controller) you would be fine for all Wii U games, including multiplayer ones. Additional controllers may be bought if you are interested in MP wii games, or wii vc.
No, it's in the living room/TV area but we live in an apartment, which isn't small, but the living room is next to the bedroom. No issues whatsover. It does cut off if I'm in the other room which is further away from the living room.
My other tips regarding the Gamepad would be to buy a storage case like this, this awesome screen protector which has the best application processes I have ever seen and maybe extra styluses, though I haven't done that. The case and screen protector will help a lot against dust and scuffs.
I am sure you've looked into Wii U data storage options?
EDIT: The screen protector seems to be out of stock for now. You can look for a different one but I can only vouch for that one because I use it.

I don't understand why they couldn't give us a special edition with the costumes. I was really to throw all my money....just not to the point on buying the game 3 times. I don't even have Gamestop in my country... I'm really disappointed on this. Disappointed with Nintendo or with Koie Tecmo, or whoever thought this was a good idea.
I know that maybe in the future, the costumes are going to be available for DLC (or maybe not, because fuck you guys.), but I still feel sad.

You are talking about the Wii classic Pro. You should look into the Wii U Pro controller. No squeezy triggers, much better compatibility with Mayflash (from what I have heard).

I actually just finished putting my two anti-4-year-old accessories on my GamePad last night. I can't speak about any of the products you listed, but here's my solution:
I went with the RocketFish Invisishell (got mine at Best Buy, $7.99 retail) to protect the GamePad itself. It seems pretty sturdy and covers most of the gamepad. Being clear was a big thing for me, so that you could still see the Hylian detailing on the limited edition GamePad. This particular shell also has room at the bottom so that it can still be docked (Hori makes a similar product, but it's twice as much and can't be docked).
For a screen protector I went with the Hori Precision Screen Filter (could only find this online, $7.99 retail) - it was fairly painless to apply, definitely didn't have any problems as far as air bubbles. I did have a little problem with dust, and will definitely say that if you get any dust under it to flip the instructions over and read the section on removing dust. I didn't and ended up with twice as much dust under it as a result. I'll also note that they make a kind of bundle with a screen protector, stylus, and screen cloth - apparently this has a different protector that isn't as good, so go with the one that is screen protector only.
As an aside, I really don't get why people downvote these kinds of questions. Had the same thing happen when I asked for some input as well.

I bought three more volumes of Tokyo Ghoul, and bought the Female Corrin Amiibo. It wasn't in any of stores in my area so I had to order it on Amazon. Hilariously enough, the Female Corrin Amiibo is $94.94, but the Female Kamui Amiibo is only $38.00. I don't give a shit if the package is in Japanese, the amiibo itself is the same. Getting it in store for $15.00 would've been best, but I'm not about to complain given how annoying it is to pick these up. I'll pick up Male Corrin at one point or another, just not immediately (oh, and there's only $1.00 price difference between Male Corrin and Male Kamui, why I don't know).
I am also in the midst of downloading Civilization VI. The Digital Deluxe edition was on sale for 40% off, $62.99 altogether which is far better than $104.99. For comparison, the regular version is normally $79.99 and was 33% off for $53.59, and the five currently released DLC as a total price of $31.95. I imagine a complete edition with expansions and stuff would be dirt cheap a couple years from now, but eh, whatever.

Otherwise NSMBU, SOnic Lost Worlds, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 U, etc. are all $30 games too, since they are also part of the MK8 promotion.
Yes, it's a remake, but to say it's just a port is a little unfair. They completely changed the inventory screen, added Off TV play, added gyroscope controls for item usage, and changed the game here and there as well (Tingle Tuner - Tingle Bottle, reduced Triforce quest, addition of Swift Sail, etc.)

I purchased the Hori Wii U Precision Screen Filter from Amazon and am reasonably satisfied with it. It was pretty easy to apply, but it seems like there is a very small gap of exposed screen along at least one edge when you apply it. It is small enough for me not to care though, I just make sure dust doesn't gather there by cleaning it out every now and then.
Make sure you apply it in a bathroom or somewhere relatively dust-free so you don't have to deal with dust getting under the protector during application.

The combination of nerf armor and the hori gamepad screen protector have kept the gamepad in ptretty good shape considering that my children actively try to break pretty much everything in our house.
The screen is durable, but it does scratch easier than you might expect. That's why I got the screen protector.

That is super awesome! I had Windwaker for the Wii when it came out, and when I got the WiiU I just.... HAD to buy another one! LOL, so I just replayed it and got through it a few weeks ago. I love the concept of each island all over the map, and having to revisit some of them --- it's like a treasure hunt, which I love!

We have no idea. For reference, Villager took almost a full year to restock in America, and Wii Fit Trainer still hasn't seen a proper restock (in America at least, but importing her is relatively the same price as buying MSRP in America). Watch the Japanese imports on Amazon if you don't care about it being Japanese. There's literally no difference in the figure, just the box, but the prices are almost always better to import. Right now it's not so good, but Nintendo of Japan is better and quicker with restocks than Nintendo of America is.
Just out of curiosity, which ones do you have? A lot of them are on really good sales on Amazon like the 3-pack. Almost all of them are on sale seen here.

From that perspective, you are much better off with a Wii U. The benefit of being behind the curve a little bit is that everything has its price reduced. You should look into the NIntendo Selects line of games. These are popular, best sellers that were popular enough to have a second release, but the second time around they only cost $19.99 or less instead of $50 or $60. Not every game is available as a Nintendo Select, but many of the good ones are.
I recently bought a refurbished Wii U that didn't come with any games. Then, I bought Super Mario 3D World for cheap. You mentioned Wind Waker, and it is available as a Nintendo Select. So is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. I believe that all of these games were originally $50-$60.
I don't think Yoshi's Woolly World is, but it is at least available a little cheaper and with an included Amiibo. I haven't been able to find Mario Kart for very cheap, though.

I keep a protective cover and a screen protector on mine. Those are marked up prices on Amazon and I paid much less at the time, so I'm sure you could fine similar cases and screen protectors for cheaper. Otherwise just take care of it and most likely you'll be fine. Worst case scenario I'm sure Nintendo will be doing repairs on them for quite a while, it'll just be pricey.

This is anecdotal evidence, but I recently bought a screen protector for my Wii U gamepad and it works just fine. I'm not sure which screen protector you bought, but the one I bought has generally favorable reviews.
At launch the wireless range for the gamepad for some reason was really bad. I'm not sure if the recent update did something to increase its receptive range, because now I can watch/play games even in the bedroom behind a wall. I didn't change where my Wii U was located, nor did I purchase or replace my current router with a different one, so I'm not sure what changes were made.
In a previous Nintendo Direct Iwata has said that they're aware the loading between apps is taking forever. There will be another patch coming out soon, as it was intended to be a two part update. The first one was stated for Spring (which was pushed out already), the second one should come soon. I imagine by the next Nintendo Direct we'll hear more about it. I believe in a previous statement Reggie also said they'd like to put the initial system update onto the Wii U's from some time onward in the future (I think closer to holiday season?) so consumers can play it out of the box without having to wait 1+ hours for the update.

I really like figures, so what I'm talking about here, is a Nendoroid figure of one of my favorite characters of Persona 3, Aigis, the anti-shadow robot. Do you like Zelda/do you own the new super amazing hyrule warriors game? If you don't own it yet you absolutely need hyrule warriors. I understand it had a lower production quantity, but the game isn't that good so it balances out - it's not one of those "hidden gems" you find out about later. Sure. I just checked France and Germany, both of which would've been the easiest, and both have sold out in the past two days apparently. The last viable option would be preordering Rosalina from Amazon Japan. It's bit more of a hassle, but I believe it's cheaper than the European options that are sold out anyway. I suggest using Chrome to browse the site, so you can translate the language easily. You might have to use an importing company like Tenso to bring her to you, depending on where you live. Good luck! There's no issues you have to deal with a used Wii U, since if you can just erase the system data once you get it and make your own nintendo ID account. If you get it refurbished from Nintendo's website, then it's probably already done for you, and from what I've heard it runs well since when they're refurbishing they replace most of the components with new replacements anyway.
Sadly titles on the Wii U, don't go for sale frequently at least not first party. Usually Capcom, and others are good for digital sales, I think they had Monster Hunter 3U for the Wii U on sale recently for 13.59. You usually have to look to retail for better prices on older games, such as Super Mario World 3D(which imo is the best 3D mario game as of now) is selling for $20 through the Nintendo selects program. As someone who works for GameStop, I am well aware of how scarce Amiibo can be, and I definitely agree it's a shame Nintendo doesn't make more. There is something called Replay Power Saves that I bought for cheap. It's an amiibo chip that's rewritable, and you can download any amiibo to the chip. You don't get the cool figurine, but you do get all of its benefits.

It appears that Gamestop doesn't stock them anymore? Not really sure. I remember it was really hard to get the one with the Power Tag for a while after someone advertised they were $15 on sale at Gamestop. Now it's normal to see them for $30-55. Perhaps Nintendo gave them a cease and desist and they stopped manufacturing the power tag? I don't know what the deal is.

But when you look at the price history for the game, hmmm... it shows at $60 before the game was launched! It's almost like Amazon uses placeholders before the MSRP is revealed!
Not necessarily. It's hard to determine from just a single picture of a single item, but look at the symmetry and consistency of the item. It's more expensive than it seems for small plastic figures to have precision with really small amounts of error in placement and proportion. The plastic also seems at least decent quality; compare that to Nintendo's amiibos. The plastic, painting, the small shape chiseling, and consistency all look cheap, and this is almost $30. Granted it's more than just a figure, but you get the idea. Just because a figure is simple in design doesn't mean it's cheap. Nendoroids are really high quality figures with good consistency, detail, and plastic, but they're $30-50 bucks for a reason.
Bootlegs seem close at first glance, but their plastic quality, precision, and QA suffer because they're cheaper. It's really easy to tell a bootleg apart from the real thing, and they break quickly because of the plastic.
