It won't show up in dev/input, My thinking was a bit off, because it's a wireless receiver, it works a bit differently that what I am use too (I prefer Sony controllers).
Is this you controller?

I have been through the xpad driver and it only seems to support one racing wheel, so I think it should just show up like any other xinput controller.

My friend gave me his wireless madcatz wheel (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Racing-Wheel/dp/B003YBUSMW) when he upgraded to his fanatec.

Its no where near as nice as my DFGT but it does the job. Not having force feedback blows but you get used to it. I wouldn't pay the 150 they are asking on amazon but if you can find it used on CL for about 50 bucks its not too bad. Plus its miles better than the wireless speed wheel thingy.

Try these? they're fairly cheap.

After that, they get a bit more pricey ($200-250)

Even so, read the reviews on the Amazon page for the MadCatz wheel. Seems like a decent wheel at $150, but now the whole Fanatec setup (wheel & pedals) costs the same as this MadCatz setup.

The only reason I could see going MadCatz is if you're adamant about playing on the couch; the Fanatec doesn't include any provision for a lap mount.

(I have bias and/or first-hand experience, as I've used my Fanatec CSR w/ Clubsport pedals since early December 2011.)
