The ancient SATA interface used by the Xbox 360 will always be faster than the even more ancient USB 2.0 ports, but it might not hurt to invest in a better flash drive. I have installed plenty of games to USB drives, and they have worked as well as hard drive installs. that said, the 360 runs a test when you format a USB drive for use as Xbox storage, so if it passed, you might not see much improvement from a newer/better USB drive. If it did not pass, then I would definitely look at a new USB drive. keep in mind the most space you can get from a single USB drive for game installs is 32GB. you can buy a generic 250GB Xbox 360 S hard drive for $36 delivered right now. a knock-off 500GB is $50 delivered. a decent 32GB USB 2.0 drive will be $10-$15 delivered. You can get a USB 3.0 drive, but the 360 will only be able to get USB 2.0 speeds max.
Not really, at all. You can get a 120gb Xbox 360 hard drive for 30 bucks.
Like this one or this one or this one.
yup. You can even use 2 at once, for 32 gigs of external storage that works the same as the internal hard drive. although this might be better for you
Amazon seems to have these much cheaper, unless I'm missing something. New too. I recently just had a friend buy a 500 gig HDD and it runs fine for the slim.

You can purchase a hard drive for the Xbox E and add it:

You can get the official one here:

Or go with one of these - they will probably work:

I bought a 320GB HDD for my 360S in 2012 for like $80 on Amazon. They should be cheaper by now if they still produce them.
You should be fine if it is compatible with the 360 HDD slot. The system will then format it to be used on the console.
Oh, and before I forget, the 4GB on the xbox is built in so there is no removing it. You just have multiple save devices. I have three: 4GB built in, 320GB installed in the slot and 500MB cloud storage which I haven't used yet. Hope this helps!
Here is a 250GB for less than $40 http://www.amazon.com/250GB-Internal-Drive-Xbox360-Games/dp/B008TP1OKI/ref=pd_sim_vg_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0NGHDAJDR2ZJWF6H2BRF

Do you know if that will fit into an E?
Be aware, it requires a hard drive. Neither the internal memory of 4GB models nor flash drives are acceptable.
I bought it for my son but now I need to buy a hard drive or return it.
here is an original one. here is a knockoff.
You can actually go as large as 320GB, but you might need to be willing to open up the hard drive cases and do a swap.

Had the same problem. Posted about it here.
It appears we must purchase a HD to fit into the empty port on the 360 (under the grating at the bottom of the console). I have my eye on this drive but am awaiting confirmation that it will work.
Good luck, brother.
4 gig slim, then get an aftermarket 320 gig drive to add in.

Get one of these, there's a port on the bottom where you can put it.

This one should work right? The reviews have said that theres no real difference between this one and an 'official' microsoft one
>So the type of hdd that would fit into the 360 I gave a picture of is the black square one with the tab, and not the metallic one shown in the second video?.
I couldn't see your photo, for some reason the imgur album link is not accessible.

I have one of those, one generic disk for the xbox 360 slim. Inside is a regular 2.5 inches hardrive. Inside of that plastic enclosure is basically a 2.5" notebook HDD (some specific brands and models).
If you want to avoid the trouble of restore the partition in a generic unbranded HDD you can still search for a generic one
In this video shows how to open the slim hard drive enclosure (open the enclosure kinda sucks)

>And it's because I have this small hard drive that it doesn't have partition 2, with the emulation software? So I couldn't just do it with the one I have already?
You need to put a harddrive inside the xbox, Afaik the xbox 360 is going to check that partition 2 inside the inserted harddrive (not the built-in 4GB one).
Here you go, $30.
They sold memory cards.
Just for clarity this is the drive I was referring to:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004GINKNQ?pc_redir=1409997911&robot_redir=1
Just not Microsoft branded so I assume it reads the same as a flash drive?
Here are some links for the product in the above comment for different countries:

everybody here is forgetting they come in multiple sizes like 20gb 60gb 120gb as well, all reasonable prices but i cant see spending money on more than a 120gb anything after that then you could just delete stuff, i can say from experience the 60/120gb should be great with a comfortable amount of space.
sorry this is my fault on terminology as im typing to fast. I have the proper XBOX 360 HDD to my understanding. I have this exactly http://www.amazon.com/250GB-Internal-Drive-Xbox360-Games/dp/B008TP1OKI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1397267293&sr=8-4&keywords=xbox+360+hdd
edit: changed my description to the right terms, appreciate the help either way
Oh i know. I was thinking about getting something like this
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00E2TKB5E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A21O1O0VBTB0YT&psc=1.
I have no idea is my console is a "slim" model. I think it is though. I just know it's an arcade.
I had a similar situation to when I first got the game. I have a 2 year old 4gb xbox 360 slim. The reason why you cant install the game is because you dont have a hard drive. The 4gb within you console is an INTERNAL FLASH DRIVE, not an HDD. To solve this problem, just buy a hard drive. If you're like me and you will probably switch to a next gen console or PC later this year, I'd recommend getting this 20gb HDD for $25. However if you're planning on playing other current games with a 360, buy a bigger sized one. I think GTA 5 requires a HDD.
I know what you're thinking, it's bullshit that you have to pay 25 more dollars to play BF4. However, you'll soon realize that having a hard drive is very handy. It makes storing games and game files easier, and you dont have to go out and buy flash drives in order to save stuff. Trust me its worth it.
Third party drives work quite well. The 320GB is only about $50.
That's like the one I ordered. In the bottom back of your 360 slim is a little square tab that slides back and opens the hard drive slot, notice the similar shape.
It's not terrible for 30. but I figured I'd go big for 10 more.

This is the same one, right? This is also the one ppl are saying can't pkay og Xbox games....
>Well the best thing I can tell you is to get more hard drive space
Still applies on the Xbox. If you've got a large drive already, it's full, and you can't find anything on there to delete, then I don't know what to tell you.
Well I would love a preorder of Pokemon Y but I am not sure if a preorder type thing is really practical for this so an alternative is a hard drive for my 360. I want to say I really respect what you are doing (by this i mean the contest and of course your service), while it is something that always seemed to interest me I can't imagine myself ever doing it so thank you so much!
I'm talking about this or this. I don't have experience with generic brands, but they probably work well and come in smaller sizes than the official Xbox versions. They're pricey though, so maybe gauge your need first.
Don't buy a HD from EB Games/Gamestop you will end up paying full retail price.
An official MS 250GB goes for $79.99 on Amazon.com I'm sure they have smaller if you don't need that much space or grab a USB flash drive. I do believe Xbox supports up to 32GB.
Edit: Here is a link for a generic 60GB for $40, check out the reviews.
I don't know much about this stuff, either, but there's a Xbox 360 hard drives on Amazon. Most seem to be for the slim model, like this one, but there's drives for the non-slim model, like this one. You can search for others at different sizes and prices.
So I'd have to buy something like this if I have the xbox slim?
http://www.amazon.com/60GB-Hard-Disk-Drive-Xbox/dp/B004GINKNQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=1-3&keywords=xbox+360+hard+drive+slim
this might be affordable for you
Really?
