You may complain with the new ones yes
BUT we all know the original multimedia controller for the original Xbox is the best
👉😎👉
It had soo many buttons
[EDIT] The image of the original Xbox media controller
My son is 7, we got him basically the same thing and he absolutely loves it.

If your PC has Bluetooth it will run right out of the box. Otherwise you'll need a usb Bluetooth dongle or a Xbox wireless adapter for Windows 10 or a micro usb cable to use it on PC.
This should be what you need. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
fwiw I think the newer adapter is smaller https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=G4GPGDYB25HCHBS0RDTB

An adapter for your controller allowing you to use your PlayStation controller on your XB1
This is how I do it:
I have
and then just open two minecraft windows and open to lan or log into your own server.
Though, looks like OP could just give the kid the fullscreen and and use one of his monitors to play with him.
e: ALso, /u/thataustguy is right, but our have a tablet so she can watch mc on youtube
Yeah, but you had to buy the "DVD Playback Kit" aka a remote to watch anything on it.
Qanba Drone if you're on PS4 and do not care about artwork swapping. Venom Arcade Stick if you're on PS4 and want artwork swapping. Mayflash F300 if you're on Xbox or Switch and do not care about artwork swapping. Mayflash F500 if you're on Xbox or Switch and want artwork swapping. Qanba Carbon if you're PC-only and care about artwork swapping.
All of these sticks can be easily modified with higher quality levers or buttons at a later date. Personally, I went with the Venom Arcade Stick, upgraded it with Sanwa parts, used it for a few years and then switched to a full custom.
I don't know about "very cheap" but for under 100 this is as good as it gets https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QM7JUMY
It's around 89 bucks and moddable, a good introduction to fightsticks as the base parts are not bad for the price at all.
Give ours a try, even if you don't have prime, shipping won't be $13 =P

15 minutes if he used the controller keyboard that requires needle fingers to use!
I really liked that wheel and was bummed when it became incompatible with my XBOX. You can use that wheel with Forza 7 you just need to get an adapter. I use this;
http://cronusmax.com/cronusmax-plus/
-and-
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
It works fine, it's not perfect, but I like it better than using the controller. I guess I got used to it with my XBOX 360. Requires some futzing around and plugging the adapter into a PC and installing some dowloaded files to enable the functions on the wheel. I also have one of these;
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/product/g920-driving-force
I use that when I play on my computer, it also works on the XBOX. I am not a fan of the clutter in my living room, also the pedals don't work all that well with the furniture I have in my living room.
The Xbox adaptor doesn't actually use Bluetooth, it uses a proprietary wireless connection. (I think based off or similar to wifi)
To get the best connection from you controller, I recommend getting the xbox adaptor (get the newer one here) and a separate Bluetooth adapter. I got a $1 off of Ali Express, never had issues with it, but I don't use it extensively either.
I don't think Xbox 360 controllers use Bluetooth. You'll need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
Hori Real Arcade Pro V Kai
Mayflash F500 or Mayflash F300 with MagicBoots
This is what you need to use a PS4 controller on an Xbox one.

Although now that I look he's wireless and I'm not aware of a wireless adapter. But hey the more you know!
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Controller-PC-USB-Adapter-Cable/dp/B000RT2868
Not saying to get this, it was just the first result on google. Mostly just letting you know adapters like this exist and are pretty common.
You'll also need to find a driver for it, as I doubt Windows will be able to do something like that automatically.
If you want plug and play, look for the X-plorer guitar for Xbox 360. You can plug it in directly to your PC and it should work no problems. Otherwise you need this adapter and a wireless Xbox 360 guitar.
Personally, I would recommend either:
For the lowest prices, check local sellers on Craigslist/Kijiji and apps like letgo. Ebay is an option too, but you may be spending more money.
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=mp_s_a_1_3/146-6471626-2594358?ie=UTF8&qid=1542128484&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=xbox+360+wireless+gaming+receiver&dpPl=1&dpID=41Pt9de6gxL&ref=plSrch
This one.

For that all you need is an HDMI port and a Xbox Controller Receiver like this one.

If it's one of the older Xbox One controllers that lacks a 3.5mm audio jack, you'll need an adapter like this to use regular headphones with it. Many headsets come with the adapter bundled in, like the official Microsoft stereo headset.
Alternatively, you can buy a newer controller with the headphone jack built in, and just control volume and mute using the Xbox guide menu.
Also worth noting, sometimes people have sub-optimal results with headphones and headsets designed for use with Apple products. You'll get better results using headphones that are either designed for Android, or have no specific branding on them.
The original Xbox, after you mod it. I know modding it is work that most people wouldn't bother with, but for those who did, it becomes a really powerful (yet inexpensive) machine:
I keep a bunch of TV shows and movies on my Mac's 1TB HDD, and I can easily stream them over the network using XBMC to watch them on my HDTV. I know the Xbox 360 and PS3 have some media center support, but they tend to be limited to a few formats and require special software on the PC. XBMC supports just about every format out there, and can play them from many different types of network shares (Windows SMB, FTP, etc).
I have a bunch of emulators, like SNES9X, ZSNES, DGen, and Project64. I know there are also NES and GameBoy Color emulators out there. We have a blast playing multi-player SNES games like NBA Jam and Super Baseball 2020 and N64 games like Mario Kart 64. I can also play my favorite SNES RPGs and Genesis Sonic games to satisfy my nostalgia.
With the (now very cheap) Xbox DVD kit, I can use my Harmony to control the media center. I also added a secondary IR receiver capable of handling power and eject signals, so the Xbox turns on and off with the appropriate activity.
if it helps, I have a 20L5 and over 30 consoles and here's what I did.
The reason for the two is I split everything into 2 categories
All RGB SCART consoles are being handled by a 'gscartsw' (scart switcher)
All Component consoles are being handled by a an 'Extron Matrix 300' (multi format switcher) get one cheap on eBay
When you're ready to handle the audio now let me know and will tackle that!
**edit forgot to add, some sellers market PS1/PS2 RGB SCART Cables as the same or interchangeable but they are not. They will either have no resistors, 400ohm resistors or 1000ohm resistors. The PS1 needs resistance but the PS2 does not since it is built into the console. So:
Check the descriptions of the cables for this info or ask the maker if it's not printed.
Yup, I had an early HD RPTV that would accept 1080i signals over Component video. Pre-HDMI as you mentioned.
OG Xbox could output 1080i over component as well, as long as you had the HDTV AV Pack.
Also, wow they want a lot for that thing. Glad I already have one!
It's how I transferred saves from my PC to my Xbox!
http://www.amazon.com/Female-XBOX-Controller-USB-Adapter-Cable/dp/B000RT2868
you can also buy an adapter <link>
the orginal xbox controller is a usb device. Just not HID spec device. As others have said you can just strip the cable and splice the wires.
> The original Xbox controller was my first experience with that, it helped that it was ginormous and easy to handle
It's back, you know? They remade it for X1/Win10. Though the original was usable on PC with some work. You wouldn't be able to do it, but if I knew you I would have done it for you.
https://www.amazon.ca/Female-XBOX-Controller-Adapter-Cable/dp/B000RT2868
Nice on being able to keep that pad! I recently was able to get a Cobalt Flux as well so I was in the same spot you were. The Cobalt Flux should have a control box attached like here. Since there are both PS2 and Xbox ports, you can either get a PS2 adapter or an Xbox adapter. If you want to go the PS2 route you can get a Super Joy Box 3 Pro adapter. Personally I went the Xbox route. For the Xbox port, I bought 2 cables. An Xbox breakaway cable, and a Xbox Controller to PC USB adapter. These have worked like a charm for me. It doesn't have to be these exact ones but these are just the ones I used. I'm not too sure on the specifics of lag but it operates fairly well for me. Hope this helps.
If you don't have anything right now, I'd get a Wiitar and the Raphnet adapter. 360 Les Pauls (possibly any 360 GH guitar? I've heard 360 GH5 guitars are good as well but they get a lot less attention) are the best you can do wirelessly AFAIK, and the cost is basically a push given that a 360 wireless adapter and a 360 Les Paul is generally around the same price (maybe $10 more expensive) as a decent Wiitar and the Raphnet adapter. From what I understand, PS3 guitars are to be avoided.
I'd honestly just go to a thrift shop or some garage/yard sales and see what you can find and go from there. 360 guitars are still a good option even if the Raphnet adapter + Wii guitars are slightly better latency.
If you want to use it wirelessly you'll need one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1517812130&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=microsoft+gaming+receiver
Guitar Hero 3 for PC only works with Guitar Hero guitars for some reason. It's possible to use Rock Band guitars by using a program called XPadder to map the buttons, but I've done that and it's honestly a huge pain. The best way to go is to find a wired Xplorer guitar for Xbox360 or get a Xbox360 wireless PC adapter and a wireless Guitar Hero guitar.
Looks like its still avariable https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541457530&sr=8-3&keywords=xbox+360+pc+adapter and save the money for new Controller and buy some new games...
You'll need one of these to connect your guitar to your PC.

It will. Amazon page I use my standard Xbox controller

I bought 2 keyswitch testers. I cut the center out of the first so that I could wire up the second to the keys.
I just superglued them to the plexiglass of the box.
&#x200B;
Its a super janky build but the whole thing was a lot of fun and its exactly what I wanted. With the height of the keys and angle.

F500? Game controllers?
You can go as cheap as this or as expensive as this
An in-between may be this or this (larger, comes with plexi and has custom artwork capability) since you could swap the parts out with your sanwa parts pretty easily.
Another option would be this if you want the same as the F300 but with bluetooth but it'd require some cable splicing as it only has four 2pin connectors while Sanwa uses 5pin for the joystick.
I bought a mayflash f500. It's 89 dollars on Amazon. You can change the artwork easily to customize it which was a plus. Out if the box it's a good beginner stick but if you want to make it even better it's upgradable with sanwa denshi parts.

i honestly don't know, however the LS30's are cheaper and look like they're made of metal, then there's this quote on the LS30's amazon ad:
It's quality you can see and feel. Our uncompromising commitment to quality requires we use the best materials and components for durability and reliability. No cheap plastic parts for LucidSound.
edit: i want to assume the ls35x's will be pretty solid, waiting for them myself as well
I bought two sets of the XB1 elite sticks. Once you install them in the controller the thumbsticks are magnetic and pull off the dish fairly easily. This way, if you wear the rubber pads down you can just buy new elite pads and never have to open the controller for thumb stick related issues. I bring my ps4 to and from work daily, so when my controller was in my back pack it would rub the rubber off quickly. Now I just remove the sticks and put them in the carrying case when I'm not using the controller and don't have that problem anymore.

This is what you want. You can find them cheaper but this is the kit you should be looking for. Then you just need something to file with. You can find jeweler file sets for very cheap as well.
Well, I'd wait for this to be back in stock.
Heres the adapater that I have https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF
Although depending on how old the xbox one controller is it might have bluetooth support I know the newer ones do and depending if your pc has bluetooth built in you might not even need to buy an adapter.
The smaller one - looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/ref=sr_1_6?crid=SU6064IIWGIQ&amp;keywords=xbox+one+wireless+adapter+for+pc&amp;qid=1555525723&amp;s=gateway&amp;sprefix=xbox+one+wir%2Caps%2C189&amp;sr=8-6

I just bought this and couldn't be happier.
Edit2: I'm a dumb dumb. I have been learned that the OG Xbox is limited to 480i on over SCART cables. There may be some use cases for this and emulating some older consoles. But the best video output option is definitely via the original HD AV Pack (https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-XBox-High-Definition-AV-Pack/dp/B00005R6YZ) into a high end upscaler (OSSC). 480p, 720p, and 1080i are options available over component, depending on the game.
Another option is to use a SCART cable and get an OSSC if money really isn’t an option. Probably the best possible quality you can get. Might be tricky to figure out how to get 5.1 working. No idea if there is such a thing as xbox SCART cable with optical audio.Edit: you can mod your Xbox and add a digital audio output port fairly easily if you want RGB and surround video output. So this SCART cable:https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/xbox/ORIGINAL-XBOX-RGB-SCART-PACKACPUNCH-PRO-CABLE
This digital audio mod:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1uGUSwMKhKo
OSSC to convert RGB SCART to hdmi:https://www.videogameperfection.com/products/open-source-converter/
Best possible everything you can get. Is it practical? Ehhh not so much. Although I just bought an OSSC and about to pull the trigger on the SCART cable. Planning the digital audio mod as well. If you have time to wait, I’ll do a full review. There is a component cable

either of these are what you're after, though they might be even cheaper on ebay from honk kong or china. as far as your tv settings go in the meantime, it should just be the picture size button
This is cheaper than a new 360 controller, and doesn't require creating a new USB interface for the old controller: XBOX Controller to PC / MAC USB Cable Adapter

This should work fine with an original controller
x360 controllers are miles ahead of the original xbox controller. You should really get a X360 controller instead of all the hassle to get your old controller to sorta works.
or get an adapter

Speaking of OG Xbox cables, I found a OG xbox to usb adapter on Amazon for $12 (was $7.42 plus shipping totalling to $13 after tax).
It works in conjunction with the XBCD drivers for xp
and 7-10
Did you try this one? it works perfectly for me
No problem, got an adapter years ago because of this issue.
If you want to pick up an adapter, it seems the official ones are being sold here: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
You are going to need one of these.
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1510701340&amp;sr=8-5&amp;keywords=xbox+360+controller+adapter&amp;dpID=41Pt9de6gxL&amp;preST=_SX300_QL70_&amp;dpSrc=srch

I'd assume that one would be just fine, I think there's a bunch of Chinese made ones that work just as well for cheaper though but this one's official Microsoft it looks like.
Do any of them have USB wireless adapters?
If not, then no.
However, you can just buy the receiver if you already have one or more 360 wireless controllers.
One receiver can connect up to 4 wireless 360 controllers.
Note: It says it won't work with Xbox One controllers.
One of these (if you don't have one already) - r/https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1536696860&amp;sr=8-3&amp;keywords=xbox+360+pc
You can find cheaper 3rd party one as well. I have both and they both seem to work well.
Yeah you need both.
It's just the one that lets you use it on PC.
Like this
Idk if I'd buy one at that price though honestly. I just already had one lying around.
You can use a Xbox controller with Windows, you just need an adapter. For Xbox 360 https://smile.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1501172329&amp;sr=8-2&amp;keywords=xbox+360+wireless+dongle. And for Xbox One controller https://smile.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows/dp/B00ZB7W4QU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1501172360&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=xbox+one+windows+dongle.
I'm wondering if perhaps you reverted a driver that shouldn't have been reverted or disabled one.
What you can try is to use System Recovery and go back to an earlier time period. You can do one that will reset everything (if you don't care about your data or have it saved on the cloud or something; this is my recommended option, if you have important data, back it up to a flash drive or cloud or something) or you can use the one that keeps your files. This one simply messes with driver updates, usually but leaves your files in tact. It might be worth a try. Try to go back before you attempted all these changes.
If that doesn't work, I suggest doing the complete restore.
you'll need this. plug it into the steam link and pair your controller with it.
A Steam Controller is $50 but can get to $35 during Steam sales. If you don't want that though you can get an Xbox 360 controller and adapter on Amazon for a little over $45 not including tax and shipping. I don't know about input lag though since I don't own a Steam Link.

Clone Hero is guitar-only at the moment. Your best areas are going to be thrift stores like Goodwill, Savers, and the likes, as those are hella cheap there. From there try things like Facebook Marketplace, LetGo, and OfferUp. Ebay is a last resort as it will usually be a bit more pricey there.
USB is a weird thing when it comes to these guitars. For being straight-forward you can go with either an Xplorer or a Rock Band 1 Stratocaster, as both can be wired. Get a breakaway if they don't come with one, then it's plug and play. Next up would be wireless Xbox 360 guitars, like a Les Paul or a GH5 guitar, but you'll need a wireless adapter like this. It's a little pricey, so make sure you have a working guitar before you go this route. Then there's the Wii guitars with the Raphnet adapter, but that's a little overkill for just getting into the game.
I know I just said CH is guitar-only, but if you want to do drums later on (or now with Phase Shift) Xbox wired/wireless drums function the same way, and for some reason PS3 drums are wired USB and are plug-and-play, so there's that to keep in mind as well.
Good luck!
Also check craigslist. Can't really go wrong with any of the guitar hero guitars expect live if you want to play the standard 5-note charts. Xplorers and les pauls are generally well liked. Xplorer is the only one thats plug and play, others need this as they are wireless.
For generic gaming needs I would recommend one of the following priced lowest to highest:
USB Adapter
Controllers
Obviously there is an advantage to be had if you already own some controllers under one of the suggestions, but aside from that it's personal choice. As a side note, if you get a Pi3 or Pi0w you won't NEED the $13 bluetooth adapter listed for option #3 but it's highly recommended since using the built-in bluetooth seem to have more inherent lag than a USB adapter. It's also worth mentioning that options #1 & #2 will likely have less lag than option #3 even with the $13 adapter since the wireless dongles for options #1 & #2 don't require the Pi to do any of the work in receiving any of the wireless signals and the manufacturers of #1 & #2 claim their wireless dongles are 100% lag free. The Pi will see #1 & #2 as if they are wired USB controllers.
This is not an exhaustive list by any means - just a recommended one. For example, you can use $10 knock off PS3 controllers as well but you need them all to be a specific/identical type and you have to mess with drivers to get them to work right. Also, ANY controller that comes with a USB wireless dongle will work, but quality, number of buttons, response of analog sticks, battery life, etc will vary greatly from product to product.
Hope this info helps!
> the Xbox 360 guitars work natively
As long as you have the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver.
The 360 GH:L controller works as well, when you force it to use the Xbox 360 controller drivers.
Do you have the XBOX 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows?
There is a wireless receiver you can buy.

Actually that one it's from microsoft,I bought that one, works perfectly. I bought it in bulk tho, even cheaper, like 14 dollars.
Edit: Actually the one that I bought was this one, from Amazon Warehouse Deals, Seems like is no longer $14
If you guys already own a few wireless controllers, or this expires, here is a wireless adapter for Xbox360 controllers.
Easier for media PCs far away from the couch, & Prime Eligible. I believe it supports up to 4 connections, but I haven't tried.
The Mayflash F500 is pretty decent for the money. I've been using the Mayflash F300 for a couple of years. Its not the best stick, but far from the worst. I did a video comparing the the F300 to the Madcatz Fightstick and Fightstick TE if you want to see how it stacks up.
The Mayflash F300 is super cheap and really durable and comes with great parts- nothing beats this within that price range and many people start off w/ the F300 due to these reasons; it's an overall great stick and has an amazing price.
The F300 has a newer version though which is the F500 it's about $30 more expensive, but the case itself is a bit bigger so it sits on the lap easier(also better for people with bigger hands) and has some metal plates on the top and bottom which means more durability and just feels more premium. It also includes more features than the F300 such as: a headphone jack(apple?) and a much easier artwork change option. Hopefully this helps, but you should also watch some YouTube vids about budget fightsticks as theres tons of content about those :)
Check out /r/steamcontrollermods as there are a few of us who have swapped to a XBone stick with good results. It does require some sanding/fitting (grinding if you get a metal stick). My issue was the same as yours except that mine also started to wear out the stick where it hits the controller case and made it feel like there was sandpaper on it. This could have only been an issue with the first run pre-orders though since I got mine in November prior to the official release.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf7eKATqMvw
This is the first guy I've seen do it and I followed his instructions to do mine as well. He posts on /r/steamcontrollermods as well.
I used these sticks:

After a week of use I added these cause the dish on these were too big and too sharp of an edge for me:

The biggest difference is that under the cup the mating surface is too tall for the Steam Controller and needs to be ground down.
It's not quite plug n play but it's not too difficult if you take your time with it.

Sorry for such a late reply. This is the one I use:

If you'd rather use a Dualshock on your Xbox, Brook adapters are good.
So nothing exists but like the other guy said the brooks adapter is your best option really

I'd recommend something like this
Brook Super Converter
Way easier to deal with these days and probably a more versatile. Though, possibly a bit more expensive depending on your situation.
https://www.amazon.com/PS3-Xbox-Controller-Adapter-playstation-4/dp/B00WJ1HONE/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=brooks+converter+ps4+to+xbox+one&amp;qid=1571246309&amp;sprefix=Brooks+converter+PS4+to+Xbox+one&amp;sr=8-4
I use this. If you really want to use the controller don't let other people's jaded opinions swave you.
If you don't mind adding another $36 to the purchase you can basically get any controller you want and just use this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/PS3-Xbox-Controller-Adapter-playstation-4/dp/B00WJ1HONE/
If the stick still works and you don't absolutely need a new one you can just get Brook adapters on Amazon. I have 360 and PS3 Brawlsticks that work perfectly with the adapters on my XBox One.

They have a wired PS4 to Xbox One adapter. No word yet on a wireless solution for that
You can get one of these to save you a lot of time and experimenting: Brooks Ps3/4 to XboxOne Converter. About $43 on amazon.
For you to do the same, you'd have to buy a Brook Universal Fighting Board, which is $90+shipping alone. Then you'd have to put it together. They have prewired kits for $100. It's not bad until you realize you have no home button (never used an Xbox One, assumed it has a home like anything else). Depending if you use the select button or not, you can always wire that to the home button, but switch them back when it comes time to update the board.
The plus side is if you buy the UFB, it'll work on pretty much all the current systems and PC out of the box. Not a bad investment if you plan on playing on different systems. Also the lag on the UFBs are very very minimal, better than some stock sticks according to tests.
&#x200B;
The downside is that route gets very expensive. I have built numerous sticks out of older sticks of all kinds, it adds up. My current "Stick" (hitbox made from an old madcatz TE round 1) ended up bring $300+ over time. But it's a fun hobby none the less.
This is the one I have https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013JLB1IQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jI-QAbPYYBJGD
It feels a little cheap but it works pretty well

I ran my own HDE test, doing the same thing as in that video. I'm recording with an Elgato HD60, using the Pound HDMI cable for the Xbox. Some of the video feed is not shown during the Unleash X bootup after the flubber animation due to the feed changing from 480p to 720p, but UnleashX only took a few seconds to launch. Once UnleashX launches, I show that the X, Y and Z partitions are empty and that the CACHE folder on the E partition is not there before I boot Halo 2. Halo 2 also opens with a loading screen, rather than the logo videos, because I deleted those video files for a faster boot.
The end result was that the load screen for Halo 2's "The Heretic" mission finished after 20 seconds. I don't know what was going on that guy's video. My loads times are never that bad.
Amazon - Pound Xbox HDMI Cable
I think this is the one. It's the one I bought at least.
The only issue I have ever had was once when a game crashed I was unable to connect my controller until I restarted my system, I'm guessing it was some weird driver hangup. Only happened one time and it was a quick fix.
I have also heard of some games experiencing some FPS issues with the controller connected, so if you notice a game performing poorly when you know otherwise, it's worth turning off/disconnecting the controller and testing frames again. Not something I have seen personally, but I know it happens.
Newer, smaller one: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/
Older, larger one: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-10/dp/B0785RHK5Q
I'm just basing this on the pictures shown on each product page. The older one is that big black rectangle with the USB connector sticking out of it, the newer one is, well, still a black rectangle, but it's smaller and the body is similar in size to the USB connector.
Looks like a bunch of orders for the new one on Amazon got mixed in with old ones, so I would just walk in to a Best Buy if you have one nearby and just buy one there so that you don't have to deal with any headache of wondering if you'll get the right one from Amazon. The retail packaging for the newer one comes in a small, primarily white box, whereas the old one is in a larger, totally green box.
The Pound HDMI cable is a nice alternative if you've got an HDMI input.

It's a great time to revisit it! I recently just upgraded my hard drive so it'll last a bit longer. An old hard drive from the early 2000s is bound to fail eventually. I also replaced the fan and reapplied the CPU thermal paste. It's now much quieter than before. The POUND HD Link cable also makes it look a bit better on modern TVs.
There is still a community of modders at /r/originalxbox.
Through the PoundLink HDMI Cable
Pound Technology HD Link Cable for Original Xbox v2
It's sold through Amazon for $29.99 when in stock - just checked and Amazon states in stock.
You can find on eBay too but sometimes at a much higher price. :)
This is what I bought and it works beautifully on my OG Xbox; even before I softmodded it.

Sounds like it's worth a go. Though there's also a link in there to Amazon US that has the Pound cable from what looks to be the official seller and will ship to the UK, and is £35 so a bit cheaper than eBay (Though still more than the original cable I was looking at). Quite tempted to go for it to be honest...

Could you get something like this for the original Xbox and then use that as the DVD player?(I'm pretty sure the original Xbox can play DVDs but might need the media remote. It's been a long time since I messed with an OG xbox.

I cant seem to find pound in the name but amazon is bringing me to this cable is that correct?
personally I would check the wires and try to repair where it broke, or if you are not quite that handy, go with the $8 cable /u/theabolitionist said to use.
I found some others that may or may not work, since they are so cheap, $3 component, and $5 av
Did you get the component video cables too? If you do you can play most of the games in 480p, and a few in 720p HD as opposed to the standard 480i. I got them and everything looks amazing.

Don't destroy old hardware (like controllers or the official cables) which aren't produced anymore.
There's cheap adapter cables from Xbox controller-plug or Xbox breakaway to USB for less than $5. They'll also probably last a lifetime.

Just use the base from your current consoles, as they vary throughout the revisions (v1.6 motherboard won't fit in previous revisions without modifying a mounting pad).
For this thing, perhaps?

Xbox 360 wireless controllers don't work that way. The USB port on them are strictly for charging, and not for linking to a console/PC. (Yeah, pretty dumb.) To get a X360 controller to work on PC you need either a real wired controller, or buy the wireless dongle for your PC.
The Xbox One Wireless controllers DO work on PC, by simply plugging a USB cable in.
I'm a bit iffy on that listing, two of the top four reviews claim their was fake. Other people have had good luck with it though, it seems. As of now, it's a toss-up between that one and this one for which one I'll order.
I use one of these dongles and it's great : https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Packaging/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
Thanks for checking.
I'm using a wireless XBox 360 controller.
You can pair up to 4 controllers with your PC using: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1523231153&amp;sr=8-5&amp;keywords=xbox+360+wireless

Yep he is correct, you need this - https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/
Microsoft uses a proprietary wireless system with their Xbox consoles. I'm guessing you can gamble and try one of these.
I can verify that wired MadKatz Xbox 360 fightsticks work. I have a Street Fighter 4 one myself.
Ditto. I bought a generic one off amazon and had absolutely no trouble. It's been great.
Edit: I double checked and I guess I went with one that was labelled as authentic ms. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1495058411&amp;sr=8-4&amp;keywords=xbox+wireless+adapter
The price difference seems to be about $7. Not sure why I didn't save the 7 bucks.
I have a Steam Controller and an Xbox 360 controller. My girlfriend and I played though Lego Marvel Superheroes, the Lego Harry Potters and some of Jurassic World with two different controllers. So if you want to mix and match, you're totally able to.
If you have any controllers laying around, see if you can find an adapter for them.
That should work. I don't have any experience with 3rd party receivers, but I've never heard of one not working.
This is the one we all use, but I don't know if it's available where you live. The one you linked should be fine though.
Are you using this? Windows 7 has the drivers built in so you shouldn't need to download any.
I'd also suggest getting an Xbox 360 controller + Wireless Dongle as the RetroPi software has a very easy feature to map the buttons to a controller and then if feels very natural and responsive for emulation gaming. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1498681214&amp;sr=1-3&amp;keywords=xbox+360+wireless+pc, with the CanaKit + Controller Dongle (assuming you may already have a 360 controller or find one around for cheap) your total would be about $90
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?crid=37DNCKUE16L6M&amp;keywords=xbox+360+wireless+receiver&amp;qid=1551390056&amp;s=gateway&amp;sprefix=Xbox+360+wireless+&amp;sr=8-8
I've used a multitude of controllers with various USB controller adapters:
Wii Classic
Gamecube
Xbox 360
Really, the 360 controller is the way to go and it seems to have become the de facto standard for PC controllers. Just look at the plethora of games that use XInput. I use a wireless 360 controller and a wireless receiver from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item
I know for sure seller EA Electronics is legit (despite the bleh name). Good luck.
You can get a USB Bluetooth adapter for a few dollars on Amazon.
That controller would work out of the box if you had this:

I can personally confirm this works, if you are looking for the wireless adapter.
The damn thing won't even work on my computer anymore. A long time ago it work perfectly, then like 3 days ago it started randomly disconnecting during games. It became more frequent and when I got my steam link it barely ever worked. I've order a real Microsoft adapter and new controller and will update the post when it works.

You need one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FAS1WDG/ (Non-Referrer) And the https://github.com/360Controller/360Controller/ driver.

> PC and Linux
The gas I buy from Chevron works fantastic in both Car and Ford!
Jokes aside, same for me. This is the one I got (cost $19.99 when I bought it). Everything about it looked very authentic. Build quality, packaging, the driver CD it came with, and instruction booklets it came with. Usually Chinese knockoffs have obvious marks, especially if you look at any paper materials it comes with. This definitely looked like straight from Microsoft.
They probably just bought the controller/adapter bundle, and sold them separately. Works for me.
Works out of the box for me on Linux, but I don't think I've tried it in Windows yet.
USB OTG on my Nexus 6. I bought a cheap adapter off of Amazon ($1, something like this) and then plugged in a USB wireless adapter for 360 controllers (one of these; note that while Amazon has generic ones for cheap, I bought a generic one and it ended up not working at all and had to buy an OEM one).
Surprisingly, the wireless adapter worked instantly, no drivers or anything needed. GTA:SA on Android has controller support built in, too, so it just worked.
Only issue is that Android doesn't tell the controller which "slot" it's in (the light on the 360 that says if it's number 1, 2, 3 or 4) so the light on the controller continuously flashes. I downloaded some app that allowed you to fake out the controller so it thinks it's assigned to a specific slot (pretty sure it required root, don't remember what it was).
I'm partial to standard controllers (Ps4/Xbox thought I mostly game on console and prefer PS4/PS3 controllers) for fighting games but my boyfriend loves using a fight stick. This is the one I got him for Christmas and he loves it.
well. dualshock 4 is a very viable option. although you would have to use th Dpad (which is also a very viable option). you will have to getused to it a lot. if you want a fighting stick, there are some pretty cheap options.

i myself am using a dualshock 4 with the dpad, and it's very viable. half circles are giving me a bit of trouble in tekken, but that's because tekken 4 half circle motion is stupid
tyty :D
this one then ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mayflash-Universal-Arcade-Flight-F500-Schwarz/dp/B00QM7JUMY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1524071417&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=Mayflash+F500
>I can’t find which stick is in the Mayflash F500.
https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Arcade-Fight-Android-Switch-NEOGEO/dp/B00QM7JUMY
>Are both arcade sticks identical or completely different?
Identical for the most part, the difference is the button colors and that's probably it.
>MagicBoost from F500 is suitable for Joytron?
Probably, the PCB should be the same.
>Mayflash and Joytron the same company?
The design is mass made in China so really any company can buy a bunch and brand it as their own. I don't think Mayflash and Joytron are the same company.
>Joytron will be a good stick as the first stick?
It's fine.
Personally I bought the Mayflash F500 and bought a replacement stick and buttons from here. I'm super happy with it. My only complaint is that the rubber pads on the bottom did fall off presumably to cheap glue, but that's easily fixed. Feels really solid for the price point of ~110, plus it's my own stick, ya know.
I'd recomend this for under 100$. I use it as my travel stick. Mayflash F500 Arcade Fight Stick for PS4/PS3/XBOX ONE/Xbox 360/PC/Android/Switch/NEOGEO mini https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QM7JUMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3R59Bb5RYFFEF
Solid size, easy to pack for traveling, and if you plan on modding.
Yes there are services that have "suites" in places like Miami and they take care of importing and shipping. Everything after $50 pays 16% taxes, tho. And shipping depends on weight and size.
A while ago there was a service from a mexican carrier called "Estafeta" (imagine UPS) that had the idea ot charge 35 dollars a YEAR for unlimited packages from ebay up to 50 dollars and I don't remember hoy much weight, and then they charged for the extra or the import duties. Oh it was a great year! I bought a lot of crap! They had a facility in Texas, but it was ebay exclusive.
The last controller I got is a Mayflash F500 that I got yesterday.
Mayflash F300
Mayflash F500
Also 8bitdo apparently has a fight stick that works on Android too.
I'd go with the Mayflash sticks though since I see people actually buy those and post them here (usually with Sanwa parts swapped in on Reddit though lol).
The stick from Amazon
The art I threw together quickly in Photoshop and printed on legal paper.
I believe these are the ones I bought, (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VWOOIUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_56lJxbDGRXCJE)
I bought replacement thumb sticks on Amazon. They are aluminum and will hopefully last much longer. Pretty easy to install too.

Its a little pricey but it works, but if u don’t want to buy ps4 controllers do work on pc
https://www.amazon.com/PS3-Xbox-Controller-Adapter-playstation-4/dp/B00WJ1HONE
You shouldn’t have to handicap yourself here. I go to alot of fighting game tournaments and use a ps3 arcade stick, some games be on different consoles so i use this.
might wanna look into one of these
Haha aww that’s such a bummer, I get it though the PS4 controller is a lot easier to use with smaller hands. But you can buy a PS4 to Xbox One adaptor, And you’d be able to use your PS4 controller on Xbox :)
This is what I do. But I’m the opposite. I use my Xbox Elite controller on my PS4
PS3/PS4 to Xbox One Controller Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WJ1HONE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xTRPBb8XQ885W
The Xbox One Controller's D-Pad sucks for playing Resident Evil with tank controls. Since you're stuck with the Xbox One, you could find a third party controller with a better D-pad or use a Dualshock 4 for Xbox One adapter. The Dualshock 4 has a way better D-Pad

Hi, I'm buying the [LucidSound LS30] (https://www.amazon.com/LucidSound-LS30-Wireless-Universal-Headset/dp/B01DUHQIL4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1492017444&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=ls30) and I'd like to know if anyone has them so you can tell me your impressions.
On sale on Amazon for $90 but only has 3 stars and alot of bad recent reviews. I was checking out the LucidSound LS30, which got great reviews and meets my budget.
https://www.amazon.com/LucidSound-Wireless-Universal-Gaming-Headset/dp/B01DUHQIL4?th=1
I use these on the PS4 but they should also work on Xbone https://www.amazon.com/LucidSound-LS30-Wireless-Universal-Headset/dp/B01DUHQIL4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1482502924&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=lucidsound
They are USB Wireless but can also be connected via Audio Jack and for me the sound quality it's pretty good, I use them when i play Rockband alone to hear the music and not the Strum bar ;P
Check out the LS30. $150. Their new $200 model comes out in December.
https://www.amazon.com/LucidSound-LS30-Wireless-Universal-Headset/dp/B01DUHQIL4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1479010977&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=ls30
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DUHQIL4 has been pretty good to me.
Been messing around with how I want to play since I made the mistake on buying the game not on PC. So far it's made a big difference in overall control.
Using the Collective Minds FPS paddle accessory thing and bought this pack of aluminum joystick replacements off Amazon. The base is magnetic and it comes with a couple different lengths with concave/convex tops.
Link for joystick: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01G1XMXBI?psc=1&amp;ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
The quality of the rubber is a little meh, but once you wear it in it's much better. The concave ones are almost identical to Xbox One's joysticks.
Link for Collective Minds FPS thing: https://www.amazon.com/Collective-Dominator-Controller-Adapter-playstation-4/dp/B01L8QHXJA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1539437945&amp;sr=8-1&amp;pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&amp;keywords=collective+minds+strike+pack+ps4
Apparently there's a bunch of options for configurations but I'm too lazy to try and figure it out so I just mapped some face buttons to the paddles.

ther u go matey, i used em way back when and they work so well, lol, hip fire everyware haha
I'm not sure how well this would fit, but maybe 3d Printing a circular clip that goes over the controller with an X style directional pad could potentially work well with this:
https://www.amazon.com/eXtremeRate-Magnetic-Stainless-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B01LSQNTR0/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1520521894&amp;sr=8-2-fkmr0&amp;keywords=concade+dpad+kit

Anyone get that dpad or [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Quartet-trade-Stainless-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B07Q6Q1KTH/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=xbox+one+dpad&amp;qid=1574877709&amp;sr=8-12)? Curious if either one is better.

They are revising it due to a bug they found when connected to certain modded xboxes and Rev 1.4 boxes. I have one and it works fantastic. If you search around here there was a review by Metal Jesus that talks about video quality and the minimal frame loss.
I've used similar upscalers like you linked to and they were all garbage. Can't speak to the specific one you linked, but I'd look for a different solution.
I use an XBox One controller. Standard wired XBox controller will also work. (Playing this, among a bunch of other platformers and fighters suddenly, killed my other controller so I upgraded to the XB1)
If you get an XB1 controller, the USB receiver is $20 on Amazon.
Controller w/receiver combo: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-CWT-00001-Controller-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B01M5GG9I7/

Wired controller I'd recommend if you want to go the cheap (price, not quality) route: https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Wired-Controller-Xbox-360-Red/dp/B00EZKNT5O/
Do you plug the official USB receiver sold with Xbox Controller ? Just buy the official Microsoft adapter and it will support all four of your controllers

You need the Xbox Bluetooth adapter to do it. This one is smaller and much nicer to use than the bulky older version:
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1549018923&amp;sr=8-3&amp;keywords=xbox+one+windows+adapter

had literaly the same problem, but all buttons got rnd reassigned. The camera rotation was only when inside a chopper, but i didn't drive alot ingame with cars...
quickfix: just tend the right stick to the right, or the left stick to the right (this was for wildlands, where i also had the problem with my Dualshock 4 controller).
Real Fix: idk how you connect your controller, i use the original USB Dongle from Microsoft. I used my Controller somewhere else, and my dumbass connected it via the normal bluetooth inside windows settings. that caused the problems.
So, either get the official usb dongle or try to completly delete the xbox controller from your pc, also from the device manager. then try to connect it as clean as possible. make sure no other device like usb mouse or usb headset are acting like a gamepad aswell, since virtual gamepads are causing this problem.
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/
Works just fine with Stadia.
You could buy one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0785SFKYF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&amp;psc=1
It'll work over Bluetooth or with the wireless adapter, but you generally have to buy it separately.
Adapter
Sorry for response 5 months after the fact, but bluetooth alone won't support an Xbox one controller properly to PC. You will need This adapter
PS4 controllers can connect with just bluetooth.
I really hoped i'd come in here and you were some kid asking for trash talking tips. I'm sad that's not what this is.

Or are you plugged directly into the controller port?
The Stereo Headset Adapter has a mute button and some volume control for game audio and mic audio. Official Microsoft Version, and here's the Turtle Beach version. They both work with whatever normal headphones you have, you don't need anything fancy. I use cheap earbuds with the Turtle Beach one.
The pound cable is $30. Gives you near component quality. Especially if your TV only has HDMI inputs. It's the simplest set up, and usually regarded as one of the best options.
https://www.amazon.com/POUND-Link-Cable-Original-System-microsoft/dp/B07D19QQHW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=xbox+pound+hdmi&amp;qid=1563711008&amp;s=gateway&amp;sprefix=xbox+pound+&amp;sr=8-1
But it doesn't play 100% of the games, so in order to play some games, I still have to keep that original console for those games.
How can you call it free when the console costs a few hundred dollars? It just seems nuts to buy a new console just for the reason of playing your old games. I have a PS4, that kills the need for a XB1
Also - just get one of these https://www.amazon.com/HD-Link-Cable-Original-Xbox-System/dp/B07D19QQHW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1537935630&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=XBox+HD+Link+cable
I have two of these and have found the picture quality is excellent. A must buy if you do original xbox gaming.

So, this was my dream machine I built back in the day. I had it sprayed at an autobody place and went crazy with blue LEDs. It has the 10GB harddrive and the better DVDrom drive (the one that can read CDrs too). I found it in my mom's basement recently after my girlfriend and I bought our own house and I figured it was time to get my old stuff out. I forgot how much work I put into this thing, but all is not right. I have taken it apart and desoldered the clock capacitor but it used to have a X2.6 mod chip that no longer functions. I think the front panel got ripped off. Also it looks like the X2.6 needs a trace resoldered.
Unfortunately I recently was hit with 2nd and 3rd degree burns to my dominant hand and I'm not sure how well I can solder anymore. I think I can fix the X2.6 but the wiring from the X2.6 to the front bank selector might be out of my skill set now.
I have also lost all my games (including mech assault and action replay I used on my friends xboxes).
I have ordered a Pound HDMI adapter and a IDE->SATA adapter
The only piece I can not find is the cable from the x2.6 to the front bank selector so I am stuck with the only disk that was left in the machine, Halo 2. I would love to upgrade the disk and put backups on it. I am not trying to pirate as I weirdly have all the game boxes just lost the CD holder that contained the actual disks!
Any help would be much appreciated. Should I buy a new IDE drive or use one of the many SATA HDD / SSDs I have laying around. I don't have a ton of money but it would be cool to get this up in running and have all three generations working in my new entertainment center!
Thanks!
Pound HD Link Cable

If you’re able I would suggest using a Bluetooth connection over a wired one, I’ve never had much success with a wired Xbone controller, either that or get the wireless dongle, that should solve problems 1 and 3 problem 2 sounds like an issue with both the connection to the computer and the battery not being charged, I recommend this to solve that problem, this little kit works very well for me.
To sum up, go wireless and get a different kind of battery that you can charge without using a micro USB cable and that should fix all your problems.
https://www.amazon.ca/Xbox-DVD-Movie-Playback-Kit/dp/B00005O0I9
Exact same scenario. Want to add a feature that requires a license? You had to pay for the license.
Think of the bigger picture. Why would Microsoft blanket license this for however many million Xbox One users there are so EVERYONE gets to use it 'free' when they know there's going to be a small number who will ever actually use it?
Great job OP. I'm a little disappointed that the banana pi didn't catch on, but the only thing it had going for it was the sata port.
You might want to think of investing in a USB enclosure for the HDD and buy a raspberry pi 3. I have over 9TB worth of data connected to my raspberry pi 2, and I use OSMC with an Xbox DVD kit dongle that I converted to usb years ago to control OSMC with the included remote (OSMC even has native support for the xbox dongle in the remote settings).
You can't use your converter box, just get Xbox, Xbox 360, and Wii component cables.
Here ya go. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E61G4O/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&amp;psc=1
I have the specific one and it works. Its not a converter but a whole replacement and will give you HD if the game supports it.
30$ not a penny more.
Edit: nope 20$

in there
Two or more controllers plugged in or connected to the computer. Or 1 KB + M and 1-3 controllers. You might need something like this for Xbone or Xbox 360 controllers for wireless play: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;psc=1&amp;refRID=VWY52DD9EFAPE5XWM4M1 or this: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1539937506&amp;sr=1-4&amp;keywords=xbox+360+controller+pc&amp;dpID=41Pt9de6gxL&amp;preST=_SX300_QL70_&amp;dpSrc=srch
Get the wireless dongle for Xbox controllers. It's the best for playing DS on the PC and TV, plus you can play Guitar Hero/Rock Band (if anyone still does). 360 controller is the best controller.

That one looks good. Be wary of fakes.
You will need something like this. Warning: I don't know if this link is to the official Microsoft version. Apparently there are many knock-offs, which may also work fine, but you'll have to research.

You can swap all parts with sanwa if you want to but the stock parts are honestly fine to start with
