How about tying you stake to a set of buried earth anchors?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/ShelterLogic-30-in-Earth-Anchors-Set-4-Piece-10075/202719050?cm_mmc=Shopping%7CG%7CBase%7CD28I%7C28-21_STORAGE_BUILDINGS%7CNA%7CPLA%7c71700000032163868%7c58700003829539931%7c92700030687809730&gclid=CjwKCAjw2rjcBRBuEiwAheKeLyx7atkG3CsdlQtcqn6LgXAB6szN6PB8YrWNtolGDgAF9Bz86IvyhhoCcQ0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CI_r_L_hod0CFcPBwAod_TEK3A

Put all 4 in, angled like the vertices of a pyramid with the tip about 4-6 inches underground, and put a cheap padlock through the eyes of all 4 and a hole drilled in your stake. He won't be able to rip it up without pulling up half the garden. Using a padlock keep him from being able to unscrew the anchors individually.

At $30 for the anchors, and $10 for a padlock, you are under budget. You could even spend another $10 on a sturdier stake.

If you stretch the budget a little, or use an old lock you have, you can buy a steel channel sign post, and it has convenient holes for the padlock: SmartSign U-Channel Sign Post, 6' Tall, Medium Weight 1.12' Baked Enamel Steel Post https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HDQH5R0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QnRJBbJ4VFK5F.

If you have an old cell phone, you can set it up as a Webcam, and we can all watch the show as the vengeful old man sprains his back trying to pull about 2-300 pounds of soil out with those anchors and that post. Well worth it in my opinion.

And still plenty of room for the poor tomato to send down roots.

We have these signs on our bathrooms at the craft beer bar I work at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BN1QPBP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jFkRDbK34A4E5 and there have been plenty of time that people get pissy about it. The servers just say something about go ahead and leave because they know we are the only craft beer bar in the are so they stay and get grumpy lol

I bought 4 yard signs from the Bernie store.

Amazon has a few! This is one of my favorites:

This is something very near and dear to my heart as both I and my oldest nephew have food allergies. There are tons of fun, non-food items you can hand out to trick or treaters that they will love. My favorite to hand out has been play-do. Other good ones are those Mardi Gras necklaces, stickers, or stamp rings. Please consider at least adding a few different non-food items to your normal candy giving.

...Btw, if you are looking for cool teal pumpkins and don't want to paint one yourself, Amazon has a lot of neat ones to put out. I'm told Target sometimes has them as well.

nuts, bolts, washers

I'm not clear on how each of those links went through a different signage site, only to end up on amazon. (edit to fix my sloppy links)

I'm ordering this right now!

Get her this: https://smile.amazon.com/Tag-City-Novelty-SP80063-Protected/dp/B01AHGQQJA?sa-no-redirect=1

Or, one a more serious note, an EDS sticker. Works just as well as the real thing. I think.

Bathroom sign!

Had a buddy who had some extra plastic/acrylic laying around so he cut it to size. The boxes should be able to lay on the racks that come with the unit too. Just won't be able to fit as many boxes in there unfortunately.

Before that, I was going to use corrugated plastic signage. I was going to use two of them to make sure the weight wouldn't be too much, but once my buddy got me the acrylic, I shelved that idea ;)

Trail cam or Arlo Go would be my two top pics. https://www.arlo.com/en-us/landing/arlo-verizon/

Edit: I'm assuming the trash dump location is not visible from their house and therefore expect the camera to be stolen or vandalized. At least with Arlo Go, you know who did it and can sue for the cost of camera.

If it were my house, I'd cut down some trees, put up a sign and stick a camera on the side of the house where they're less likely to touch it but it still gets anyone bold enough to approach.

Yay for yard decor!

Maybe add this means you asshole, to the no trespassing sign. Or you could use this one. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0185VAKK0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

hot glued together from an old lawn sign, similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Corrugated-Plastic-Blanks-Short-Flute/dp/B004U6UESS, mounting tabs reinforced with 1/8" ABS, and screwed in with 3/4" drywall screws.

Not sure if the amazon sheets are as heavy duty as the lawn sign I used - the plastic is pretty thick and probably UV resistant.

I have a little light-up Halloween decoration that I like a lot. It is very similar to this.

It is battery-powered and I would like it to be something that I can just plug in. I thought that converting something from batteries to plug power would be cheap and easy, but I guess I was very wrong.

On the back side, you basically have a string of lights that is spaced out for each hole. If I really want this to run off of plug power, is my best bet going to be re-stringing the lights with a new set that can plug in? Or might it be easier/cheaper to find a plug adapter or to do some amateur rewiring?

FWIW, I ended up using these stakes that universally hold any size of Christmas light, woot! Now just need to find a better AIO Shingle/gutter clip.

I saw a neighbor with
this in their window... I always thought it was dumb because he just let everyone know that there was a free gun inside when he was at work.
