Bianca is a suspension lamp with a diffuser in satin white blown glass, dotted by tiny dints, a white ceiling rose, a transparent power cable and a steel suspension cable. Etheral and elegant, Bianca by FontanaArte is a design by Swedish designer Matti Klenell, 2015. This modern and functional pendant lamp is made from satin white blown glass that adds a refined lightness to its design. Its fluid and sinuous shape will brighten up and fit in any kind of environment. FontanaArte was established in 1881, when Luigi Fontana started his business in Milan, manufacturing float glass for the construction industry. As the century drew to a close, the company produced refined bespoke and one-off glass furnishing accessories. Gio Ponti, former founding editor of Domus magazine, was invited to take over the companys art direction in 1931. An eclectic character who was a key player in the cultural ferment of that period, Ponti was also one of the founders of ADI (the Italian Industrial Design Association).
He curated the Milan Triennale events on various occasions, lectured at the Milan Polytechnic, and designed both public and private buildings, furnishings and objects that became part of the history of architecture and design. Today FontanaArte is still a groundbreaking lighting design company. Its unique designs boast an unmistakable style that has become a favourite of generations of people spread across the whole world. This heritage has been interpreted by Matti Klenell with Bianca, a lamp that produces a very warm, diffuse and enveloping light emission in the surrounding environment. Here in a medium-sized version, Bianca is also available on sale online as a table lamp and as a wall lamp. Technical information: included bulb type 17,5W Led (2700 K; CRI>80, 1650 Lm).
