This canister is made of cherry bark according to the traditional technique that started more than 200 years ago in Akita prefecture of Northern Japan.
A craftsman polishes the inside bark of the Mountain Cherry tree again and again to achieve such a shiny and gorgeous finish.
Because the bark provides a natural insulator against humidity, the canister has become very popular throughout Japan.
