With Google Clips, you can capture and store photos and clips of moments with your friends and family automatically. Using machine learning, Google Clips can intuit when it should snap a clip based upon who is in the frame and what they are doing. A “clip” is a photo integrated with a short video, creating a “moving photo”. The Clip can use any frame from that video and extract a high-quality still image.
Clips and still images will then be automatically transferred from the Clip’s 16GB internal memory to your smartphone, from which they can be uploaded to social media or cloud storage. An extra boon for Google Pixel smartphone owners is unlimited cloud storage for Google Clip media. A clip stand is included for standing the camera up on a flat surface, or for securing to your clothing for a truly hands-free experience.
Google Clips is smart enough to recognize facial expressions, lighting, and framing. So the camera will do its best to capture beautiful, spontaneous images. Plus, it learns, so it gets smarter over time.
Google Clips captures motion photos that last several seconds (without audio). Hold it, clip it, or set it down to get memorable clips from unique perspectives.
Google Clips learns to recognize familiar faces. The more you’re with someone, the more it learns to capture clips of them. It can also pick out pets like cats or dogs.
Pixel Smartphone Integration
View your clips to select the best moments. Share directly from the app, or use Google Photos to create movies and photo albums. With a Pixel smartphone, you’ll also get free, unlimited original-quality storage for photos and clips through the end of 2020.
You don’t need a network connection to capture or view anything. Connect Google Clips to your phone to view what you’ve shot, and share only what you want to.
Shot Selection: Save what you want from Google Clips to your phone, and discard what you don’t want.
Suggested Moments: The app highlights the best clips, making it quicker and easier for you to share memories.
Save Photos: If you like a particular moment inside your clip, you can save that snapshot as its own photo. Google Clips will use machine learning to increase the resolution right on your phone.
Google Clips can be used with a Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Galaxy S7, or Galaxy S8 smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat and abev. It can also be used on an iPhone 6 or later running iOS 11 and above.
