Music Box with Powder or Jewelry Compartment Vanity

Music Box with Powder or Jewelry Compartment Vanity
Reviewed by

This circular designed music box with separate lid is made of silver-toned spun aluminum with some gold highlights in the ridged sides. On the lid, the central medallion is an ancient Greek (or Roman, maybe) scene of a man and woman following a torch-carrying cherub who is leading them… to safety? To a spot where they might be alone? The man is carrying a lyre, so perhaps he intends to serenade his lady. Under the lid is a small compartment that likely was intended for powder but would be a great spot to stow a few pieces of jewelry. The music box works as it should and plays a lovely melody, but i don’t know what it is. Below is a link to a YouTube video of this music box playing. The winder on the bottom is missing one side of the key, but that does not hinder the winding. The case is 3 1/2″ tall and 5″ in diameter at the bottom and sits on 3 little wood feet. There are scuffs, light scratches and a bit of oxidation, but no dents. The interior is clean. Overall the condition is good vintage. Video of of this music box playing:
