Reminiscent of porcelain, the Soft lamp is compelling both in its translucency and its tactility.
The lamp is produced by means of an innovative application of the traditional dipping technique used for PVC. Perhaps not surprisingly, given this dip-molded production process, the design also has a liquid quality, as if the electricity cord and socket have been engulfed in a viscous coating. The supple electrical cable seems to flow seamlessly into a flexible plastic hood that protects the glow of a soft light.
The “Soft Lamp” is featured in numerous museum collections including the MoMa New York City and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
