The Mysteries of Cow Island is an adventure game in the style of Sam and Max and Monkey Island — wacky, warped, and a joy to play 🙂
The great Lucasarts games of the 80’s and 90’s make some fond childhood memories for the class of 2001 – and losing them after 2005 has left a large hole.
With great titles as Maniac Masion (Day of the Tentacle), Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Full Throttle, it’s hard to believe that by 2005, the tradition was gone. Lucasarts moved to exclusively Star Wars based games, and it’s adventure games series was dead in the water. Sierra (Kings Quest) and others followed – now adventure game are far and few between, and none as good as the old days.
What do we plan to do?
We plan to fill this gap with a genuine retelling of 80’s computing, with 1024×768 resolution, hand drawn and animated backgrounds and characters, voice-overs, and the same music and style of gameplay.
About $15,000 should do it. We have worked out an accurate budget, accounting for backgrounds, animation and programming. Our tools are chosen – we have started development on the little money we have available, hoping that you guys can help with the rest 🙂
What’s in it for me?
You’ll get the game, after you help in development. We will find you by email address, send you a download link, and that’s it!
$5 only will get the game in it’s original non-talkie form
$15 will get you the voice-over-ed form (complete with hundres of lines spoken by many voice artists and friends)
$25 will get you the long edition, with extra puzzles and rooms.
We can’t give out boxed copies (at the moment) because we don’t have much experience in that; and who cares about boxes, certainly not I 😉
What kinds of risks and challenges affect you?
