Designed by Kristian Vedel in 1959, this Small Wooden Bird was one of the most successful Danish products from the 1950s. Each wood bird is handmade by a wood-turner in Denmark, and is available in natural and smoked oak wood. The bird’s spherical head can be tilted and turned, creating different expressions. The bird can be used on its own or with different wooden birds in Vedel’s series to create a graphic story on a shelf or desk. The body of each bird can be overturned to create a male or female figurine.
