Light weight laptop with an awesome build quality for Video/Photo editing ? This ASUS Zenbook Pro UX501VW-DS71T laptop, I think would be perfect for you. It is very powerful , sporting a quad core intel i7 6th generation processor, 16 GB RAM , a dedicated GTX 960 graphics card and a nice 512 GB SSD. This laptop will complete photo editing at any level for you and even video editing which is more demanding. Apart from pure power, this laptop also has full 4k resolution on a brilliant display which is great for high level photo editing. It has a wonderful battery life and not to mention, a brilliant build quality with it's frame full blown aluminum.

Some other pros to consider:

-Lighting Fast

-Keyboard feels great

-Display is great quality

-Touch Screen is always a plus

-Aluminum build quality

-Great heat dissipation (Also no loud fans, when watching
hi-rez videos and high CPU usage)

-Runs games smoothly when optimized

I'm not too much of a fan of the ASUS UX501VW (4K model), personally. I don't like ASUS' advertising practice with its display.

The UX501VW uses the RG/BW Pentile matrix to claim 3840x2160, which a lot of people consider to be dishonest and to mean it's not truly the resolution it advertises. The actual chromatic density of the display is lower than that of a 2880x1620 display, but it still makes your GPU render in 3840x2160.

I generally recommend people who are looking at the UX501 to instead consider:

If you are fine with a 17 inches, this Acer Predator 17 Gaming Laptop with the wonderful gtx 1070 graphics card, would be a fantastic pick. It also has a nice quad core i7 processor, fast 256 GB SSD plus 1 TB HDD and a solid 16 GB RAM..Its build quality is very good, has great cooling and a wonderful battery life, thanks to it's 8 cell battery pack.

i think it would be best to go with a windows laptop as oppose to a chromebook. windows will definitely off a better opportunity for a good laptop within budget. check out this Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM. it comes with a 7th gen Intel Core i3-7100U Processor,15.6" Full HD Widescreen ComfyView LED-backlit Display, 4GB DDR4 Memory, 1TB 5400RPM HDD and you can replace the hdd for an ssd, 3 usb ports, nice keyboard and an amazing 12-hours Battery Life. definitely this would be an great laptop for your client.

Another laptop closer to the budget limit at around 380 is the Acer ES1..

Overkill HDD space and more than enough RAM for her to write whatever she pleases. Also a nice processor and 8 hours of batterylife. It is 4 pounds, which is a pretty decent weight.

This might do the trick.... https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575G-57D4-15-6-Inches-Notebook-i5-7200U/dp/B01LD4MGY4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1494021857&sr=1-2&keywords=Acer+Aspire+E5+940mx

This isn't the exact one I have... I have the previous year's one (which has 6th gen skylake i5 instead of a 7th gen kabylake) and it runs Overwatch on the dGPU on low setting between 50-80 FPS depending on the conditions of the game. I've also been able to run GTA V on low-ish settings. It only comes with a 256 GB HDD but you're able to open up the bottom easy-access panels to find a completely empty SATA port where you can add in an extra hard drive if you need it (but you'll need some way to secure it in place).

There may be better options in this price range though, but I've had the previous year's model of this laptop and thought it worked well. Currently typing this suggestion on it.
