Hello! I think you're looking for Animal Crossing: New Leaf or its updated packaging Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo – "Welcome amiibo" is a free downloadable update for the original, so in either case you'll get access to the same game. There are some spin-off titles and some older entries in the main series, but New Leaf is the game AC fans spend most time in.

The game's built-in tutorials are the best way to get started, and you have to play through them to progress anyway so you might as well go through them without spoiling anything by reading too much about it first!

When you get bored or confused or find a particular goal you want to accomplish, you might want to check out this subreddit's FAQ or simply search past posts for advice, but when starting out you'll almost certainly have more fun just wandering around, interacting with animals and objects and discovering things for yourself.

If you're looking for official stuff...

There's a 2016 calender at Barnes and Noble and Go! Calenders.

There's binders for the amiibo cards on amazon, made by Hori (http://www.amazon.com/Amiibo-Folio-Officially-Licensed-Nintendo-3ds/dp/B0171RL3P0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450126283&sr=8-1&keywords=animal+crossing+binder) ...but if you want a really nice one, stalk Nintendo's twitter to see when they're doing in store game play events at a Best Buy near you, your local rep might have a FREE AC binder that's so much nicer!

World of Nintendo did an official Rover plushie recently, if you check out ToysRUs, Target and Walgreens you may be able to find one. They're also coming out with a Timmy/Tommy plushie that's already available in some areas, at the same stores.

It might also be interesting for you to check out amazon.co.jp for nendoroids, DS accessories and so on.

There's this storage case you can find online or in store that's super cute: http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/accessories/new-3ds-xl-animal-crossing-starter-kit/124963?cid=fds_10000777 Gamestop also apparently sells some of the plushies...sometimes.

I know this won't help now but in the future I'd use one of these.

http://www.amazon.com/Action-Replay-PowerSaves-Pro-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B00IVJ1M7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458522874&sr=8-1&keywords=power+saves

This lets you hookup the cart to your pc and create backups of the game save. Unlike protected saves between digital games, the power saves can switch the saves between carts or transfer to different ones. I personally have used one to move a save to a new cart.

I strongly recommend backing up saves for any game really since these types of things happen and backups are there to at least get you within a few days worth of lost stuff

Famitsu (the publisher of this guide) made a pretty good one known as the perfect guide. I'm currently using this and absolutely love it. It's well balanced with a lot of info and pictures that are big enough to see the details.

Another good one is from Nintendo dreams that is more structured like a catalogue and also named as such. If you enjoy keeping track of your catalogue progress and/or are a completionist this might be up your alley.

There are a couple of others but I think these two are the most used. And regarding the Japanese, if you know the basics you'll be fine. Even those who don't speak/read the language can use these books because most of it is pretty self explanatory.

u/pentaclecrown · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Amazon! The people in that thread recommended this one, this one, and finally this one! Even if you can't read Japanese, the pictures give you a lot of really helpful information. The last one I linked even has the image of every single villager's starting home set-up (at the time of its publication, anyway). And if you want to get an idea of exactly how much information they have...well, here's a comparison of the thickness of the Prima guide and the Kanpeki Japanese guide.

There are a lot of them out there, but you might find some pics of their contents on Google images or tumblr if
you take a look. (The links to tumblr images in that thread died.) Good luck and happy hunting!

u/finklefankles · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

It wouldn't hurt to call them (saves you the trip and gas if they don't have it). Though, I'd say your best bet right now is through amazon.

You could also try Toys R Us and Wal-Mart as well. My boyfriend got it for me through the Toys R Us he worked at. Good luck! I hope you find one!

u/Zaccea · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

I really want to recommend an Action Replay, because they have a save file backup feature! However, I only have a digital copy of ACNL so I can't promise that it will work with the "Welcome amiibo" version of the game. Here's a link to it anyways and hopefully somebody else can chime in with their experience.

u/DanniDorrito · 3 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Amazon have them but sadly the prices aren't great. I've came across the same problem as you're having too. For now I've ordered a 3-ring binder along with pocket pages and also some sleeves. The sleeves and pocket pages arrived a couple of days ago and the sleeves fit perfectly into the pocket pages. I'm still waiting on the binder but I'm looking forward to it. Least this'll keep my cards safe until I get my hands on albums.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Get yourself a 2DS system (just came out this year) or a New Nintendo 3ds system and you'll be able to play the most recent up to date version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. All links in blue are direct links to purchase products from Amazon. The difference between the 2ds and the 3ds is that the 3ds supports an optional 3 dimensional feature that's cool to use through the system but that simply boils down to preference. 2ds is the exact same system but does not have any capability to run anything on the 3 dimensional effect. Gameplay stays the same between the systems - either route you go, you'll be set to play the game - all for under $200.

u/NestheTurtlePrincess · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Yup! Official Nintendo seal and everything. Although some people say they find the internet more useful (and cheaper, of course). For example, fake vs real painting comparisons aren't in the book. It just tells you to compare with the catalog for yourself. But it does have the entire catalog and this version actually has slots for check marks if you have the item! (last game guides didn't; it looked ugly if you wrote in it). So if you like physical copies, I recommend it.

Here is what I bought for my 3DS XL. It works really good for me and makes it a whole lot easier to hold!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008XHCLFO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1397176688&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

u/UnseemlyKellie · 7 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

You can find it cheaper here I bought it in September and I love it!!

u/iwastherealso · 7 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Animal Crossing sticker book is on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1524772623/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rfykDbWY3EPCE

I assume the Ghibli colouring book is too but probably nicer to find irl?

u/noajayne · 3 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

I also have and LOVE that phone case! I'm using my Animal Crossing 3DS XL now that matches it, but I just ordered the NEW 3DS one with the AC cover plates! Can't wait!

I also ordered this cover plate because I couldn't resist!

u/anewempireinrags · 28 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Those seem to be digital download cards. The "Happy Price Selection" version is comparable to "Nintendo Selects" in the US, and the orange bannered one is the same as the version pre-loaded with the WA update. From what I've heard, Sanrio packs have been sold out for months and haven't been restocked. You could ask a store employee, though.

Edit: typo, oops.

u/fudgemuffin85 · 3 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Sure! Mine is the first, and I added in some others that I found too:

Case 1

Case 2

Case 3

It's an import from Japan but fits my 3ds XL just fine!

u/LustyGurl · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

I thought a used one would be a lot less but then I see stuff like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01307Q6ZC/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

I guess I will just get a new one.

u/Kyless · -4 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

They spent ~$1000 on friends, yet couldn't shell out $23 for an actual Reese plush

u/DrDiv · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

So you're looking for an NTSC version of Wild World for the DS? Something like this?

u/herefortheturnips · 14 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

You can buy the NFC Reader for the old 3DS so it can read amiibos :)

u/ArkieRN · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

There are several kinds this is the one you want.

It does look like the price went up a little since I bought one though.

u/zzyxxy · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

I use the Comfort Grip for my XL, looks a bit ugly but I feel much safer having it on.

u/chriskmee · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

This is how I think of it. I buy most of my games retail so that I can sell / gift them away when i beat them, but any game that I think I will never want to sell, like Animal Crossing or Pokemon, Ill buy that on the e-shop.

If you really must have retail, there is always Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Crossing-New-Leaf-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B0053BCML6

u/OliverNodel · 3 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

Yeah! It comes with stickers too! You really can't go wrong, especially for the price.

Action Replay Power Saves
http://www.amazon.com/Action-Replay-PowerSaves-Pro-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B00IVJ1M7M

Basically it's a 3DS card reader for your PC - lets you back up, modify and restore saves from your physical games

u/hazel865322 · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

You have to buy this. It allows you to create (multiple) saves of your game.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IVJ1M7M/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/181-9996767-8076824

It only works with cartridge, not downloaded game and only with the same (one) cartridge.

u/floralcode · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

I... just have them all in a pile that I move around. Right now it's on my nightstand! Can't you just get a sleeve like this and put it in a binder? You could even get dividers to organize the series/etc. I kind of want to do this, but I don't want to give myself an excuse to buy more amiibo cards!

u/PinheadPierre · 5 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

This is an amiibo, a delightful new creation from Nintendo that blends both toy and game alike. When plugged into the right games, amiibo can unlock new modes, characters, and features.

Basically they're figures and cards (and sometimes even plush) that contain NFC (near-field communication) chips that can be scanned by the game. There's an entire set of Animal Crossing amiibo that can now be scanned into New Leaf that do various things. A 3DS XL, that you claim to have, needs a special adapter in order to scan amiibo, but a NEW Nintendo 3DS can scan on the bottom screen. They do various things and the latest Direct goes into detail on what exactly they do to New Leaf.

u/Ansakicus · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

I just use a Action Replay PowerSaves Pro to hack my games. Works not with AC but plenty of other games. Now I know I can make money off it!

I'm loving it. My hands were starting to hurt after playing a lot. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the one I have, although there's something different with the one the top reviewer has; mine does have a game card slot cut out at the back, but the reviewer had to cut one out, but they cut it on the front left? This is supposed to be for the "old" 3DS XL, not the new one. It's easy to pull the case off on the right side to get to the sd card, too. It has helped my hands a bunch. And then I dropped it, and realized it was a good idea for that, too. :D The case has made it crazy bulky for carrying around in my purse, but I think it's worth the trouble.

u/Vessica · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

Oh whoops I have no idea why I said nenodroid hah. So https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AZQH1P6/ref=pd_aw_sim_21_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=W4RM9KQ2AK5ZH88S7VTH this was one of the things I was talking about but actually I got mine from the Nintendo store so I'm not exactly sure if Walmart or target has it.

4" Green Leaf Stainless Steel Folding Pocket Keychain Knife (Green) Sharp Compact https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C4HRLF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_j9R.ybYJV9JSE here! Be careful cause it's super sharp. My dumb ass decided to run my finger across the blade (lightly) and it sliced my finger open :( I was expecting it to be pretty dull for that price.
