Done, took about 3 hours. Was alot easier than I thought it was going to be, and I have alot of things i'm going to change if/when I do it over again. The 2 biggest issues are the dimmer in the bottom, it works great but next time i'm going to put it out of sight out of the case, it works for now and doesn't look too bad. Next, I wired the whole thing in series, like a zigzag, so you might notice that the top shelf is dimmer than the bottom shelf. Frankly, this is good enough for me, but next time i'm going to run one wire, acting as a sort of wire harness, the brightness difference is pretty noticeable, but still looks good, I regret not doing it this time but ehhhhhh. I don't know much about electrical so I wasn't even thinking about this when I was doing it, it's an easy fix for next time or when I re-do this one, live and learn. The bottom 2 shelves are essentially place holders, all of those figures will be moving out soon to make room for more scales, and I have the rest of the keions coming in a few days. For a first time 3 Hour DIY, I think it's pretty good but it definitely has it's issues, what do you think?

I've only been collecting for about 8 months or so, I frequent buyfag threads and post updates on my MFC, this is my first time posting myself here.

I was going for budget and simplicity (in reality the wiring harness is easier and provides power more efficiently, whoops), I cut out half of my soldering with the corner connectors. Parts I used:

These.

Kinda flimsy but they work. I got the bigger size to fit larger nendo/figma kits or for scales with extra parts. I took the cardboard the box came in and cut 'slats' to put into the grooves in the middle to break each bin into two parts.

Each 'half-bin' is perfectly sizes for a single nendoroids spare parts. Easily fit 3 faceplates and accessories.

48 total half-bin means its good bang for the buck.

If they like Nendoroids but you're on a budget, maybe try Petite Nendoroids, you can find people selling them on My Figure Collection quite often.

http://myfigurecollection.net/sales.php?sort=date&order=desc&search=nendoroid+petit&tid=0&currency=&price_start=&price_end=&cid=0&location=&ic=-1&bc=-1&mode=list&page=list

They are smaller version of the larger nendoroids are are better for someone on a budget.

I'd avoid buying them on eBay at all costs as there are many counterfit products out there on the market.

If you can splurge a little more there are some other options, Nendoroid Link just came out and most Nendoroid lovers do like him http://www.amazon.com/Good-Smile-The-Legend-Zelda/dp/B00JL74W4I

As other's have mentioned there are many bootlegs out there in the market, if you are worried about getting a fake feel free to PM me directly and I can let you know if what you're looking at is real or not.
(I work directly for Good Smile Company, the people who make Nendoroids as their Marketing/PR person here in the US and can spot a bootleg from a mile away!)

You got a pretty nice deal on that. A couple months ago while I was in HK they were going for $600 there, which is just a tad less than the pre-sale price.

For others who might be interested in taking the same path: http://www.amazon.com/Kotobukiya-Online-Aincrad-Statue-Figure/dp/B00AQA0OJG

Edit: aww, looks like Amazon caught on, the amazing 25% discount is now over (still has a 12% though as of editing).

u/siningy · 2 pointsr/AnimeFigures

I use a variety of tackle boxes from Plano. They have adjustable dividers but I find the 23620 sized ones to be perfect sized for nendoroid faces. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E3C3NU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

My walmart also sells a larger sized one with a row of large bays and 2 rows of smaller bays I find useful when figures have really large parts that don't fit. The large boxes are like less than 4 dollars at walmart in the fishing section.

You're gonna find some good ones here and there, the better ones go around $80-ish sometimes, you could definitely find something around that price though! These are a bit more than $50, but if you wouldn't mind paying $20-ish out of your pocket, they'd be good buys. http://www.amazon.com/Kotobukiya-Genesis-Evangelion-Shikinami-Ani-Statue/dp/B00BIQZ1OA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377151428&sr=8-3&keywords=evangelion+kotobukiya

Easiest link I found was a Amazon link
That was over priced, see
https://myfigurecollection.net/item/93559 for pointers to proper offerings I think.

It's by Banpresto, that link features for way more than I bought it for just under two years ago, but hopefully that helps you find her!

A couple of years ago, /u/DancingQueen5961 recommended this storage cabinet by Akro-Mils. I filed it in my wishlist and sat on the idea for a while.

Now I've finally bought one. Two of the concerns raised in the original thread do apply, specifically:

These single-sized drawers can't fit larger accessories. (The case with the multiple drawer sizes would be best for that.)

Front lip may catch on things when the drawer is opened. I might not use the figma bags for this reason. However, I'd probably still use some buffer material in the drawers to keep things from bouncing around too much.

The issue with too many drawers doesn't apply in my case: I actually have more figures with accessories than the cabinet has drawers, though as mentioned not all of them will have all of their accessories be suitable for the cabinet. But it's enough to work as I'm planning to use it for parts storage for the figures that I tend to change parts on often.

Now to actually finish loading the thing.

I haven't been able to switch to her demon form because the neck peg is stuck in the body of the figure. Hopefully I can switch it out at a later time (I put some 5 minute epoxy in the joint and let it set, hopefully it works).

The horn needs this light to work, and I honestly don't have any plans for displaying her in demon form right now.

Good Smile Company. Both are available on Amazon here and here. It seems they ran out of Red and only resellers have him available at 3x the price. I checked eBay and some are cheaper on there.

u/Fred249 · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Preeetty sure this is safe, based on what I've read, but this is my first time buying figures. So... safety first!

I've been using these Plano containers

They sell the single trays individually, too, but I like to get the whole box and store repair / cleaning tools or extremely large accessories in the top compartment.

u/xNOOBinTRAINING · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Thanks! Really appreciate the response response. While I'm here, I was also thinking of picking this up but the price seemed kind of low. The seller looked fine so i think I should be fine but I appreciate the feedback anyway.

u/jamoliah · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

I ended up buying the following from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B64HCQZ
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009SNOEPM
I'm not completely won over by either set, but they both have their uses. The first set is higher and more square, while the latter is wider. If anyone know of good (price effective) acrylic stands let me know!

Shopping for my brothers 18th bday, he loved the visual novels and with the the recent release of unlimited blade works i figured now would be a good time and try to pick up a saber figure for him, it seams to check out but i've never bought one of these before, is it real?

http://www.amazon.com/Saber-Triumphant-Excalibur-Scale-Figure/dp/B003552VO0/ref=pd_bxgy_21_img_2/190-2540008-7556528?ie=UTF8&refRID=1VM9PXN89MQ93BQFZZ64#Ask

Ive also been looking at this for myself

If you're not too worried about reselling, and are more doing it because they look cute on display, I'd say invest in an actual storage system.

I store mine in: http://www.amazon.com/Akro-Mils-10124-Plastic-Hardware-6-5-Inch/dp/B003TV3NL0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

u/hyliantrainee · 2 pointsr/AnimeFigures

Here're a few examples. You can also use your imagination and come up with something, like boxes! I use the box for this as a riser for one of my figures with a wide base, for example.

This stuff is really nifty for keeping stuff from falling.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R7PM36/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these are the lights, if you get them, i recommend buying rechargeable AAA batteries for them.

u/LawyersPlayDota · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Best thing to get is something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Waterproof-300LEDs-Flexible-Controller/dp/B00B2F3KDQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485055984&sr=8-3&keywords=led+strip

You can run it along the front sides+top, looks amazing. I posted pics a year ago or so, but they're lost now and Im in the middle of a move.

u/EARLtheSQIRREL1 · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Thanks :D

No they don't, they use 3 AAA batteries. Here is a link if you want to check them out https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R7PM36/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/TychoRC · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

I think you'll be safe as far as bootlegs are concerned with any of the sellers, but for the same reasons as the last figure you asked about I would suggest spending a few extra dollars and buying the one from ECbase, listed here. The others probably won't be bootlegs, but they had varying feedbacks about items taking too long to arrive and/or people never receiving their items.

u/NyaaFigurines · 3 pointsr/AnimeFigures

Red is available on the Amazon Japan website you can purchase him here

You can open this in Google Chrome for it to translate. But you will probably have to purchase him with a proxy.

u/Treelicker · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Other options:

Amazon has preorders for this figure that ship tomorrow (1/21) but it is for ~$155

u/nar0 · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Its available new right now on a few places, though its the places that have inflated prices, 6000-9000 yen premium.

http://item.rakuten.co.jp/puremiamuserekuto/199/

http://www.amazon.co.jp//dp/B00JL30S5Y/

Unless you really wanted it now I wouldn't cancel your amazon order. However you're probably getting the rerelease which would be cheaper if you ordered it then if your willing to take a risk.
