Id say its probably just easier to get the main game from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Plaid-Hat-Games-Ashes-Phoenixborn/dp/B00Y4TYRGQ it would run you another $10 or so more than getting just 2 expansions and you'd have 6 decks to choose to play from! More-so on the topic of your question though. the base game includes "must have" dice to play the game that the expansions do not include (unless you buy the two deluxe expansions which are the only two that come with their own dice exclusively for those expansions i believe)

if you know the rules you could probably substitute the dice with regular dice and some coins for tokens to keep track of health, exhaustion, counters, etc.
