input your zip code here and see how far the towers are from you:

https://www.antennasdirect.com/transmitter-locator.html

Most non-amped antennas will reach up to 40 miles, which should barely include Prineville. Depending on your geography, might be or might not be worth getting.

I have a simple $10 rabbit ear antenna and rarely have problems with it. Usually only when it's windy (weird), or it's a really, really popular broadcast, like the Super Bowl, which i find interesting (and annoying)

JASON Soothing 84% Aloe Vera Hand and Body Lotion https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G7PNK8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_p860Cb6GGAG93

You can get it at Fred Meyer. This stuff is great. It's not greasy and it absorbs quickly into your skin which hydrates better. Minimal scent.

I'm on a well and my water has a bunch of iron so I installed one of these and have been quite pleased. Pretty cheap and replacements aren't difficult or crazy expensive.

This is a huge problem in many parts of the US, with San Francisco being ground zero.

This book talks about it at a fairly high level: https://www.amazon.com/Rent-Too-Damn-High-Matters-ebook/dp/B0078XGJXO

There is evidence that the lack of access to places like SF is costing the economy billions if not trillions of dollars: http://www.nber.org/papers/w21154

Groups like http://www.strongtowns.org/ and http://marketurbanism.com/ have some good ideas as to what to do about it: build more housing in such a way that it's not just sprawl, but making efficient use of existing city land.

Bend is full of huge parking lots and empty land even in some very desirable parts of town.

Incidentally, are you the same josefek that was on the Fishbone mailing list?

This is the one I got from Amazon. It works great. Before one of my best buddies passed 2 weeks ago, I could walk both my dogs hands free with this thing. Still get a whiff of poo once in a while, but it’s not too bad, and there’s no poo bounce-age off the arms.

Another great reason to have your property secured and monitored by door cam these days folks! This vid is hd criminal evidence and soon to be a future BPD training video.

For literally less than $30 you can have this same setup. https://www.amazon.com/Wyze-Indoor-Wireless-Camera-Vision/dp/B076H3SRXG

I installed this one in my wife’s car, I’m very pleased with it.

I love the magnetic holders. Slap a metal plate in your case, and you phone just snaps to the mount. Holds steady, even on miles of dirt roads. Here's one, but there are a ton out there:

I am using the Arris / Motorola Surfboard 6141 now, you can get them for $54.99 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURFboard-SB6141-Certified-Packaging/dp/B00AJHDZSI/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1499613249&sr=1-2&keywords=surfboard+modem

They have a newer model for $99 with a higher theoretical top speed, but I'm not sure if would have any effect for Bend Broadband: https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURFboard-SB6190-DOCSIS-Cable/dp/B016PE1X5K/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1499613249&sr=1-1&keywords=surfboard+modem

Not sure which model is at Costco

I would avoid modem / router combos. A separate router will have better WiFi reception and you won't need to replace your modem the next time a faster WiFi standard comes out.

In case I have to go back to Bend Broadband.

When I talked to them earlier today, that's more or less what I tried. I told him that I did my research (I did) and that the modem should be here soon. He told me that I can only use their modems because I have telephone service. This is the modem that should be arriving by tomorrow at the latest. https://www.amazon.com/Touchstone-TM1602A-Upgradeable-Telephony-OPTIMUM/dp/B01N21Y832

Believe it or not, Amazon.

That is where my wife got her Living Stones

I bought a CTEK a year or so ago and haven't regretted it. Instead of buying a car battery every time it breaks simply restore it using this. Batteries will die very quickly in cold weather, I haven't experienced a winter yet in Bend but I get the feeling having a dead battery is common if you don't run your car for a few weeks.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006G14FK8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have a portable battery in my trunk, if my battery ever dies I can just hook it up and jump start it. You can also use it to charge electronic devices in emergency situations. I don't recall what thats called, I got it from Autozone.

Hope it helps.
