Does it absolutely have to be small? You get so much more in a larger package, and I'm able to carry discreetly when I put my full size multitool in a DeSantis City Slicker coin purse (maybe cheaper on ebay). It hides inside my belt line, and it's handy for thumping zombies too.

I don't feel the weight when my multitool is on my belt, but if it were on a keychain and/or in my pocket, it would be much too heavy and bulky. It would tear through my pockets and my pants too. But the DeSantis City Slicker is made by a gun holster company, and the leather fits it like a glove. No abrasion on my pants, and nobody can see I'm packing a full size multitool. In fact, it works so well, I'm able to carry the small keychain stuff too!

Why not have it all? Is it possible to eliminate the "pocket size or keychain size" requirement if the carry method is absolutely luxurious?

OK, either way, I think you're getting a small tool too, but if you decide you can get the full size multitool, that would change the features you're looking for, since you don't need to cover the same territory as your full size multitool.

I like the Gerber Dime. Gerber's site didn't have the page for it, but Amazon has a nice video that shows how small it is:

I have never been a fan of the Swiss Army Knives (SAK), and they look very inferior to the Leatherman Squirt PS4 and the Gerber Dime. The Leatherman is big on the pliers, and it's twice the price of the Gerber, but still cheaper than most of the Victorinox SAK's. I guess it boils down to how you're going to use it - are you a hard user, like a construction worker, or are you a light user, like an urban commando? If you're a hard user, the Leatherman is your best bet. It gets hugely glowing reviews on Amazon, but the video is about the company, not the Squirt PS4:

The downside is the Leatherman is built big for hard use. If you're saying you're not sure if you'll need the pliers, then the Leatherman probably isn't ideal. You might still choose it anyway, if you like it and it serves your needs.

I haven't owned a Mora yet, so I can't compare, but Opinel has a similar reputation for low price and good quality. I like the Opinel's high-carbon steel blade for under $20 (and if you don't like carbon, they got stainless). I'm neutral on the wooden handles but that seems to be a signature of theirs. I also like the simple but sturdy twisting lock. I don't EDC my Opinel, but it's a nice little knife to have at hand.

They do still sell an Opinel folder with an eight-inch blade...

So looking at the pictures, the axe in the movie looks like it was made for the movie. It's probably fake so it's more lightweight and can be made easily if damaged. If it helps, this type of axe is called a crash axe
