Check out the motogadget m-blaze pin

A little pricy, but they are super visible and are great quality

I think a full open airbox with some heat shielding on the bottom of the inner air box would be the way to go. Once I do my 12 engine swap I plan to line the frame and under side of the inner air box with heat shielding to help keep heat off the fuel and keeper the intake air temp cooler, like this.Lucky for the R is the only bike with the ecu in the front of the bike, some riders of the X and the S have had heat issues with the ECU as it sits under the seat. The right side of the frame can get really fucking hot if you have not noticed it yet. I got this and this off amazon.

I have these turn signals on my XBR. Bright and cheap and look better then the stock ovals.

For my 2003 I used this pump and strainer

Looks similar to the one /u/ohnotherobots used but at the time when I bought it in 2015, it was $21. Not sure why the price has doubled.

In terms of the act of replacing it. Its tough but not impossible. The hardest part is getting the actual pump out of the frame once you've undone the bolts. I fashioned my own pump puller out of bolts and L brackets I had laying around that worked well enough. Someone with welding abilities would be able to make a puller in 2 min worth of work

edit Also, the fuel filter is #FF3330DL from Autozone

This is a direct plug and play fit. Here is how it looks on my 2000 M2.

There are a couple different options.

Personally I got tired of dealing with the double nut thing, so I picked up one of these 7/8" male socket things. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W7GC9K

Americansportbike sells a similar tool that does multiple sizes http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/9153 I believe Cyclegear has them too

Since you are getting the tires today, you are likely looking for a faster option. Most spark plug sockets will work, place an extension through it backwards and use the butt of the socket in the axle. http://www.i-bmw.com/gallery/data/1050/medium/IMG_0052.jpg

Hope this helps :)

seems to be about $135 from random places online

I have no experience with the part or the vendor.

I just did this on my 03, purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/Caltric-INTANK-BUELL-XB-9R-FIREBOLT/dp/B00JC318ES
You may want to replace the filters and regulator while you're in there if you're not sure the pump is the problem. It's pretty annoying getting the assembly in & out.

That makes sense.

This is the cable I tried using, ecmspy keeps returning a failure to connect error. Maybe i need an older version of ecmspy? I don't have access to other buells so I haven't tried it on any other yet.
