I pocket carry a SIG P938, and I have experience with holsters, because I feel like the only way to try them out is to buy them and use them. Unfortunately this makes for quite the collection of holsters in a box you don't use.

So, let's start with the bad.

---

Alabama Holster:

CONS:

The hook to catch your pocket on draw is OK .. it's not perfect.

It does little to conceal print shape.

I did not care for the grip of the kydex, it was just a weird draw.

It was expensive.

It took for-friggin-ever to get, their back log of orders was months deep.

PROS:

It's kinda neat I guess?

Hickok45 loved and endorsed it, shrug

Now let's talk what works really really well as an everyday solution.

---

DeSantis Nemesis:

CONS:

I can't think of one.

PROS:

The pocket hook that catches on draw is perfect.

It is a little sticky, (rubber texture) but not too bad. This too is great for the draw.

It's cheap, (like $16-$18) and readily available on Amazon.

Does a nice job on print and is a great everyday solution for slacks.

This is mine.

---

The DeSantis Super Fly:

I have this one as well.

For me it is far too fat, and far too sticky. Some people like it better.

Edit: Yeah, I edited. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Here's a cheaper, lower-risk, higher-readiness alternative to what most would recommend (quick access rifle safe, etc):

If you are only concerned with keeping it secure from your 1-year-old, a magnet on the wall might work.

You could easily mount it high enough that the buttstock is around your eye level, and you reach over your head to pull it off the wall. That'll keep your kids from getting access until they are a lot taller and stronger.

I have my home defense shotgun in the corner of the room next to our bed, and I use one of those magnets to keep it secured to the wall because our big dogs had a tendency to knock into it when they were playing or excited about breakfast.

Those magnets are VERY strong. I can put it in the palm of my hand, press the back of my hand to the fridge and the magnet will hold through my hand. 1 would easily hold an AR off the ground. 1 holds my 870 with 10+ shells in/on it.

This is the one I used and mounted through the wall to a stud (looks like it's rated for 25 lbs): http://amzn.com/B00LR454YU

Gerber is like one notch above if not the same really. You don't have to spend a fortune, although you definitely can if you can afford it and get something really awesome, to get a solid EDC knife. You can get a nice Spyderco, Cold Steel, SOG, or CRKT in the lower price ranges that would serve you well.

You could even just get a nice fixed blade like the ESEE Izula-II. Nutnfancy has a playlist of edc folders for under $40 as well that you might want to check out. Uf you've never watched one of his reviews before, he's extremely thorough and should mention the clip.

I'm also a big proponent of carrying a small fixed blade on your off side to aid in weapon retention in case of a gun grab. I carry a Ka-Bar TDI LE which a sweet knife (strong AUS-8a steel) for a great price. The only thing lacking is the sheath that you can always choose to replace later with the PHLster TDI sheath. If you want something smaller and cheaper they also have the Ka-Bar TDI LE Last Ditch knife.

I noticed someone else recommend Liberty Safe, and though I'm sure they were recommending the full size options, I was browsing and noticed their pistol boxes. The Liberty biometric smart vault for handguns looks exactly like the Inprint. I've actually had decent luck with the Inprint in terms of it reading the finger print. They are definitely just a box of thin sheet metal though. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but if I couldn't get a small normal gun safe, I'd consider the heaviest jewelry/document/cash style safe I could get, or maybe something like the Fort Knox pistol safe mounted somewhere.

I had a bit of a similar interaction, but not to that extreme. My girlfriend had some friends dicking around with guns when they were younger and one kid died. Totally unintentional, but it's why she didn't want anything to do with them.

Anyway, I got in to guns in March of last year. I got in to them hard. I went from 1 gun to a very non-1 number of guns. At one point she said you can't have any more until you get a safe, so I got a safe that weekend. I'm down to operate within her level of comfort, when reasonable, but she knows I'm going to do my own thing. Sounds a bit like the situation you're in.

Since I got in to guns, I've had to have some conversations with her. Like, "What do you plan to do if something bad happens when I'm out of town? Hide? Run? Confront? I need to know what you're able and willing to do if I'm not around."

I ask this because it doesn't just translate to the relationship- do you plan to add kids into the picture down the line?

"What would you do to protect our children?"

Most folks will typically say 'anything'. If you ask your wife, maybe reply with something like "Even use a gun to stop a bad guy?"

That's dipping her toe in the water. Maybe she'd agree to that under the most dire of circumstances.

Play out that conversation over time.

"Well honey, if such a thing were to occur, I'd prefer you know what you're doing. I don't want you hurting yourself, the children, or completely fail at stopping a threat."

Basically, this will require some level of training/exposure. Bring up, again, after some time. Let her think on those things.

As for the immediate future, get your gun. Life doesn't wait for anybody, and neither does death.

Once you have it, you can do what I did. Or not. My girl said it showed responsibility and she appreciated the gesture even though she was, at the time, uncomfortable with the proximity to the gun.

Get some of those neon dummy rounds, and show her how to clear the gun. Let her know the live ammo isn't anywhere around, show her the dummy round, and show her the process of what a loaded mag looks like, a loaded chamber looks like, how to check & clear it, and it looks like when cleared. She doesn't have to touch anything, and the dummy rounds might put her at ease. Or not- feel that out, but my girl appreciated me taking the time to show her, just in case.

Get a lock box too. It doesn't have to be this one or anything particularly fancy, but she'll appreciate you keeping it secured if you're ever not able to carry when you leave home.

Edit: spelling and formatting

I won't push any guns on you(look at my flair if you want to know what I carry.) Do not walk into a shop and just buy a gun. Go to a range and rent guns, go with a friend that owns guns, ask everybody you can what their opinion on their guns are. If at any time someone seems emotional while bashing a brand then stop listening to them. I don't buy Glock because they don't feel right in my hand, but it is still one of the most popular guns because it is reliable. Find what works for you and then buy.

Storage Where is your gun going to be when not in its holster? All of my pistols are in a safe.

Home Defense Handguns aren't the best for home defense because of the possibility of shooting friendlies and bystanders through walls. Think about shotguns for that.

Holster and Placement I have a Crossbreed Supertuck for my .45 and a Galco basic ankle holster for my .380. If you know people that own and carry you could ask them if you can try their holster/gun combo around their house(unloaded.) At ranges or shops ask what others use and why. There are multiple places you can carry a gun(shoulder, pocket, ankle, hip.) The hip has the most variety because you have your whole waist for placement as well as looking at inside the waistband(IWB) and outside the waistband(OWB.)Look them up and practice drawing from those areas. What feels more natural? Sidenote: If you carry in your pocket then buy a pocket holster. It blocks the trigger guard so nothing(pens or keys) pulls the trigger while its in your pocket.

Ammo Certain guns can shoot any brand others can not. Buy a box of each brand in the caliber you end up getting. Do some research first! Some brands straight up suck. Pick out the weeds and try what's left. While practicing use basic ball ammo. When carrying you should be using hollow points. These will add stopping power and help lessen the chance of over penetration.

Laws Look up your local laws. Learn them and memorize them. Ignorance is not an excuse and you will get charged for breaking laws. Find a local attorney that does cases involving guns(self defense or accidental discharge.) You don't need to put them on retainer but get their card so if something ever happens you can call a lawyer that knows what they are doing.

u/flKV02PfSQ · 3 pointsr/CCW

Consider the purpose of a defensive blade. A blade is deadly force. That means that if you're justified in using a knife, you're justified in using a gun. A gun is a much better defensive tool than a knife under almost every circumstance, including at knife distances. The only time a knife has the advantage over a gun is in the clinch, i.e. when you are not just close but actually entangled with your adversary. Under those extreme conditions a small fixed blade is best, as it's easier to access and deploy than a folder. Two of the best designs for this purpose are the ShivWorks Clinch Pick with a good sheath, and the KA-BAR TDI, also with a good sheath.

You, however, are in a special situation. One, you're in a state that flagrantly violates the U.S. Constitution. And two, you won't do the right thing and bear arms in defiance of unconstitutional state laws. You could spend money on a compromise knife that is meant as a poor substitute for a gun, or you could just get one of the good knives I recommended above while waiting on your state-issued piece of plastic. Given your same constraints, I would choose the latter.

Good luck behind enemy lines.

If you feel comfortable carrying without a belt due to your body type, consider carrying without a holster. I've been carrying without a holster for years, it works way better for me. On several pistols they make trigger guards that cover your trigger only, and the guard is attached via a lanyard to your belt loops.

This is a near universal option for Glocks: https://www.amazon.com/MIC-Holster-Black-17-18/dp/B006VYBAZ8

Super cheap, very effective.

u/AllanonKvothe · 5 pointsr/CCW

This is what I use for my nightstand pistol Amazon - GunVault

Works great, can open it in the dark and no finicky fingerprint scanner (Though they have one with that option). Goes great in a drawer.

This would work good under the bed or on a closet shelf.

As far as what to use for a rifle... something like This under the bed or behind the headboard maybe?

I also suggest checking out a grip for it. Makes a huge difference how it feels in my hand.

Yes but it is such a very comfortable gun to carry around.

RECOMMEND:

Hogue grip

upgrade the recoil spring to 13 pounds

upgrade to sweat pea trigger

It will be like night and day for that gun. I promise.

Fort knox makes some awesome pistol safes if those will work. if not you can replace the lock on this one: https://www.amazon.com/Gunvault-MV500-STD-Microvault-Pistol-Safe/dp/B000TG9RCC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1467333014&sr=8-9&keywords=handgun+safe

One of the best ways to feel more comfortable with your carry piece is to train and to wear it.

Wear it around at home. You'll get used to the feeling and eventually you won't notice it - you'll just notice it when it's not there.

Also train. Train train train. Shoot at the range at least once a month. Get a training round (they have other calibers) and train at home. You can use the training round to work on your draw from conceal, trigger control, and all around accuracy. You'll feel a lot more comfortable with your carry piece when you know you can quickly draw your sidearm without fumbling for it.

As for carry locations, I'm a guy - and other people have already spoken on that topic. So I'd listen to them, not me on that.

u/SavageHenry0311 · 8 pointsr/CCW

First of all, I don't think you did anything wrong. If the worst thing that happens to you is an invigorating drive in the cool night air - well, that ain't so bad, is it?

In a perfect world, you'd have single-handedly apprehended the thief, fucked his sister, and rode off into the sunset with the theme from The Magnificent 7 playing at full volume. And in a perfect world I'd own a yacht and a nationwide chain of liquor stores, too.

I recommend you take a look at Cooper's Color Code, and maybe pick up a copy of On Killing. There are several different variations of Cooper's work out there, and some folks have tweaked it (for better and worse).

The reason I'm pointing this out to you is that I think you went from Condition White straight to Condition Black.

I want you to know that this shit happens. I am a combat vet and a ghetto paramedic - used to stress and interpersonal conflict, and I'm fully aware that it could happen to me - especially in the situation you described. Nobody is ready to "throw down" anywhere, anytime unless you're patrolling in a war zone. I could sit here and fantasize/pontificate about hasty-ambushing that thief until I'm blue in the fingers, but in reality....in reality being jerked into a conflict after sitting in a safe, familiar place immersed for hours in the fumes of Microsoft Excel (or whatever)...I'd be surprised if I didn't freeze up a bit myself. I can tell you for sure it wouldn't go down as perfectly as I'd want it to. This ain't Hollywood, and I ain't Jason Bourne.

Now, what you can do is learn about this phenomenon and how it affects you, thereby mitigating it's negative effects in the future.

The other thing to recognize here is the mere fact that you experienced this means you'll have more agency over yourself next time. It won't seem so shocking, so alien. You'll process it faster, and decide what to do more quickly.

And please don't kill anyone over a broken car window.

Texas License To Carry (LTC).

First, I learned my state's laws. Then I carried.

Do you mean comfortable carrying a gun or do you mean comfortable with shooting a person in self defense? Two very different things. The former came naturally for me. The latter I learned in 1973 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

For the former, get good training in shooting and knowing the law. For the Law of Self Defense, see lawofselfdefense.com . For the latter, read LTC (Ret) Dave Grossman's On Combat and On Killing.

I have this 4-finger gun combination safe in our master closet that I keep my and my wife's handguns. It's really quick to open - much faster than trying to do one of those little spiral combination locks. It's a little more expensive than some cheaper safes but can be secured/bolted to something and is pretty thick metal. Keeps the guns away from kids (and anyone else) but I can get it open in a couple seconds tops if I really needed to.

u/FinickyPenance · 16 pointsr/CCW

A knife specifically for defensive use needs some unique features that a typical EDC knife designed for opening boxes and stuff won't have. Specifically, you need to be able to take it, bare-handed, and slam it down on something hard like a piece of wood as hard as you can.

Most knives can't do that because your hand will slip onto the blade and you'll slice your hand open (unless you're using what I'd call an unnatural grip). So a defensive knife needs a finger choil or a guard. It should also be fixed-blade. The assumption that I think you should make when looking for a defensive knife is that your attacker is already on top of you, and you'll only have one hand and fairly limited dexterity to deploy it, so a folding knife won't work well. Plus, folding knives don't typically have a guard or choil.

As you can imagine, it's tough to get a guard on a knife that's small enough for EDC, especially concealed. (Really, who wants to walk around open-carrying a giant knife?)

Here are three recommendations, in descending order of price:

Spyderco's Street Beat

ShivWorks Clinch Pick

Ka-Bar TDI

None of them are quite as badass or tacticool as a giant 5" serrated tanto, but there's a reason that serious trained self-defense instructors will recommend stuff like these.

u/JackBauerSaidSo · 2 pointsr/CCW

I was referring to these.

That one works really well. The clip is removable and it fits on a standard rail. I like that it has good friction retention, but doesn't make it difficult to pull out the mag by hand.

When i bought it, they were $11.15, so you just have to catch them at the right time.

u/NoKz47 · 27 pointsr/CCW

Over the last 3 months, I have traveled between CA (ONT) and IL (MDW) roughly 20 times for work. One thing I learned is; Pelican cases are well worth the investment.

Even the single pistol cases which are roughly $35 are absolutely great. I highly recommend getting one, if even just to keep a gun in a vehicle.

u/Kasegauner · 10 pointsr/CCW

I have a Fort Knox pistol box. A bit pricey, yes. But it's thick steel and has a great simplex lock for quick access. No key to lose or battery that needs replacing. It has holes on the under side for secure mounting and room for several pistols. I have an apartment and currently only own pistols, so it's perfect if you don't need or can't afford a full-size gun safe.

u/tasort · 2 pointsr/CCW

J-clips kinda suck since they don't transfer weight to your belt.

I've used Comp-Tac C clips and they're pretty good. Minimally visible like the j clips, but they actually put the weight on your belt. Only $10.49 with free prime shipping for 2 black and 2 light brown clips.

Ive been carrying with this one sometimes pocket carry, sometimes aiwb since May and I love it. If I’m going somewhere more public ill stick with my P07 but this is a great “walking around outside” or gas station run alternative. I’m pretty active when I carry chasing around a toddler so it really says something when i forget im carrying this. DTOM IWB/ Pocket carry

u/RZA816 · 2 pointsr/CCW

I had the same mindset as OP until recently. I finally got down to a smaller frame Kahr PM40. Carried it for a couple years but it was to large for me to really pocket carry.

I recently traded my wife's Taurus .38 for the Ruger LCP and I was very disappointed. It felt cheap and I couldn't shoot it to save my life. I've always really loved Ruger; so I did some research and decided to make some minor adjustments.

Added a Hogue Sleeve, a Clip extension and a Laser Max. A little over a $100 and it completely transformed the gun for me. I highly recommend for those times that a larger frame firearm isn't ideal.

u/KyOatey · 1 pointr/CCW

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Sentry-Biometric-Access-Pistol-QAP1BE/dp/B00EXQW672

It might be a little on the small side for all the items you've listed, but I've been really happy with the performance of it. My local Costco has them on sale right now for $99, so I just picked up a second.

u/kingloghain · 2 pointsr/CCW

https://www.amazon.com/Sentry-Biometric-Access-Pistol-QAP1BE/dp/B00EXQW672

Granted this can only hold one or two, I have this biometric pistol safe. It is amazing. I was skeptical about fingerprint access at first but wanted to try it for its accessibility. I have had it for 6 months now and it works flawlessly being used at least twice a day. You would think it would be finicky to get it to read but I have tested swiping my finger just short of as fast as I can and it registers everytime. There's also key pad and key backups. If you want to know anymore, let me know.

u/iScreme · 2 pointsr/CCW

ditto. the simplex hit the sweet spot for me in terms of something i can open very quickly, potentially in the dark, and potentially while my adrenaline is pumping. i bought this one and i've very happy with it. come pre-drilled with holes so i bolted it onto the bottom of my nightstand with carriage bolts. no way it's going anywhere without my nightstand.

u/Stajdanley · 1 pointr/CCW

I would suggest a pistol safe with a simplex lock. i keep mine on my nightstand and I can get into it in about two to three seconds. I keep a can in my backpack when I'm at school. I'm sure someone has mentioned it already but having a good awarness of your souroundings will do you wonders. Just remember that spray is not ment to end the fight as much as it is to disorient your attacker so you can flee. That's why most of these sprays come with a uv active agent so your attacker can be identified later. And of course make sure your state and local laws don't restrict you from having self defense spray.

u/salokin315 · 3 pointsr/CCW

I'm a striker guy but for dry fire, I can totally see the benefit of having a double action trigger. I like to use one of those laserlight trainer cartridges when I practice my dry-fire (almost every night). And it would be really nice if I could just pull the trigger again to get another shot to go off, rather than having to re-rack the slide to get the next "shot" off.

But other than that and the extremely low likely event of a soft-primer strike, then I prefer the consistency of strikers.

Have a lock for every lock hole on your case. Also a non-TSA lock for the suitcase the locked pistol case is put in.

My Pelican pistol case has two lock holes.

https://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1170-Case-Foam-Black/dp/B0038VETHS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498332853&sr=8-2&keywords=pelican+pistol

Jet Blue requires a non-TSA lock to be in each of those holes or they will not let you check the gun. I almost missed my flight home due to this rule which is NOT on their website. Which I showed the ticketing agent but he said it was still policy and couldn't do anything about it.

They are required to and do sell TSA approved gun cases for situations like this, $55 for a pistol case.

note: I did not get the laserlyte targets; I can easily see where the laser hits and if it's a steady shot vs. showing some sort of flinching etc. - however i may get some of the timed targets later for rapid draw/fire drills.

Pretty much this.

I take my holster off with my Glock 19. It's never put down without my holster or MIC holster/trigger cover - unless the mag well is empty and the slide is locked back.

Yeah, if you have the G3 one they sent you the wrong holster.

This is the G3 one. Notice the model designations, M44BJG3Z0 vs M44BJG5Z0

If you compare your picture to the user picture of the G3 holster you'll notice the very tight stitching near the trigger guard area.

Whereas the the G5 holster user picture has very loose stitching.

Also on your holster it cleary states G3 where on your Amazon order link it clearly states M44BJG5Z0. I would contact Amazon about the mix up they may not even be aware

I have one of this safe in the truck with a braided steel cable tether. Takes me less than 5 secs to access. Worth checking out.

u/7even2wenty · 2 pointsr/CCW

My wife is the exact same way, I use a V-Line top draw.

Far as I can tell, she can legally carry a taser. Do NOT get a stun gun, they are only useful as a deterrent, you have to be literally touching somebody with one to do anything, and pretty much only output voltage. Tasers, on the other hand, can be used from significantly farther away, and deliver a much higher amperage, which is the part that actually drops people. It's not good for very long, maybe 20 seconds at most, so if you end up getting a taser, make absolutely sure that she knows knows KNOWS to immediately seek sanctuary before calling authorities. Don't go miles away, just get somewhere safe but close, otherwise with a good enough lawyer the assailant could catch her on an Assault charge, even if she calls the cops first. No sense risking it.

As for OC spray, try getting OC gel instead, it's outputs an adhesive, cohesive line with a much lower chance of blowback. I think Sabre is what some people use. Haven't touched OC in a while, it's not a good idea to carry both it and a gun at the same time.

A good knife can't hurt long as she knows how to use it. Kershaw assisted open or whatnot.

[This one] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006VYBAZ8/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_eimPzb99J4D79) actually. Really high quality kydex. I don't have a mobile link, but this should still work.

u/bravoechomike · 1 pointr/CCW

you could use a kydex trigger guard in conjunction with it. example

I've currently got this guy for IWB. Covers the trigger, seems decently firm. Actually came with a hogue grip from the guy I bought it from.

u/-reddy · 2 pointsr/CCW

I have this in my on the go backpack and in my vehicle.

u/Siphon1 · 1 pointr/CCW

I'm looking to order this. My dad has one and it works well. It's even better if you put a black cloth or something over you gun to 1) protect the finish and 2) keep it concealed so someone is t seeing it at a ted light or what ever.

Also I'd take any car gun inside at night and also have a lock box in the car for work. #1 way people get guns stolen is out of their vehicle.

If you are into reading books, this book is a good read concerning the mental effects of having to fire your weapon.

Mindset, On Combat, On Killing, by Grossman. Also Leadership and Training for the Fight: Using Special Operations Principles to Succeed in Law Enforcement, Business, and War by Paul Howe.

As far as tactics go, get yourself some hands on training, depending where you are, you may have "tactical" instructors close that can put together a class.

Have you thought about carrying mace? Someone takes a swing at me I'm dousing them with it. Causes much more pain than my fist.

I have the Tac-Mag that OP linked to.

I don't currently use it so right now my magnet isn't attached to anything. With my heaviest fully loaded handgun, VP9, I can't shake the gun loose while holding the magnet. I almost can't pull the magnet straight off the gun, you almost have to rock it to the side to get it to come free.

I don't see this one being a problem to draw from if the magnet was mounted to something sturdy nor can I imagine a scenario outside of a tornado making the gun come off the magnet when you didn't want it to.

Spray doesn't always work. I had a dog get loose and rush me and my dog when we were out on a walk. They got into it instantly. I backed up and emptied my entire can of spray into the faces of both dogs. It did absolutely nothing. Luckily my dog is 150 lbs (compared to the maybe 50lb heeler mix that attacked) and he won that fight for me. Had my dog not been there, and the vicious dog went after me... I would have been up shit creek without my firearm. That spray didn't even phase the dog. I love dogs and I never want to hurt someone pet if I can help it, but if I get attacked I'm going to do what I have to do.
That being said, I'm open to suggestions on a spray that will actually work on dogs. this is the spray I used.

I know this is talked out, but when I’m in a prohibited zone, I use a Kimber Pepperblaster II .

• I’ve been Sabred to carry for security work, and this stuff feels way worse to me.

• Pistol grip form factor uses existing training from point and shoot muscle memory for quick target acquisition.

• It’s a projectile gel so you don’t have to worry about blow back or wind which is a HUGE plus.

• 2X the shelf life

• No accidental discharge drips in your pocket

• Cheap enough to toss in an amnesty bin at a security checkpoint.

> Not a bad idea if you want to hide your guns while you might be out of town

This is a terrible idea. Leaving a gun unlocked when you're not home is just begging to have it stolen. If hiding the safe is your worry, Hornady makes ones that are very slim and inconspicuous. Otherwise, I see no benefit to keeping a gun unlocked as opposed to keeping a gun in a small, quickly accessible safe like GunVault's intuitive four button safe. Some people worry about speed, which is valid, but I guarantee you I can get my gun out of that box faster than you can dig yours out of the closet seven days a week.

u/xalorous · 4 pointsr/CCW

There's a spray that comes in a shape that is similar to some of the pocket pistol holsters that expose the trigger. So you basically grip it like a gun and shoot the attacker in the face. Here's the one

u/TakeMeXenu · -1 pointsr/CCW

I work in the home services field and have been attacked by dogs on 3 occasions.

I used this each time and never ended up with a bite.

I've also used this with same results.

Why the fuck would you shoot a dog if you didn't need to? Why bring that legal shitstorm into your life?

Are you dipshits just chomping at the bit to use your gun in a self defense role? You really need to stop.

I can't imagine pulling my G19 on a stupid dog.

Learn how to use pepper spray. A good pepper spray.

I looked around at reviews and all of the electronic lock boxes are total and utter JUNK. They run batteries down, fail to unlock, lose solenoid function, and are otherwise totally unreliable.

I got a V-Line gun safe that has the dead reliable and totally mechanical Simplex lock. I bolted it to the nightstand.

I keep a gun, a magazine, and the key to the rifle safe in it.

No complaints and can be easily opened in the dark.

If I take the gun off for even a few seconds to change clothes, it goes in the box and gets locked up.

I don't know your personal outlook on life, nor what preparations you made before you decided to carry a weapon. But I do know one thing: it is better that you are still breathing than the guy you killed.

If the guy was interested solely in money, he wouldn't have returned. He would have gotten the money and left. You saved yourself and your coworkers by doing what you did. Its an unbelievably shitty thing to have to do, but you did it for the right reasons.

You're getting therapy, keep at it. Many of my firends have gotten therapy for PTSD, and there's no shame in it. After our deployment, my best friend dove straight into a bottle and didn't come out for better part of a year. His job performance and live spiraled out of control, but he got better eventually.

That being said, your therapist may not be the best one... Don't be afraid of getting another; go to your local VFW, explain what happens to any veteran there around age 25-35 and you have better than even odds that they have a therapist to recommend, one that's used to PTSD from folks having shot at people.

Last thing I'll recommend. There's 2 book out I recommend for any servicemember before deployment, and if they have any issues with post-deployment life. Both are by Dave grossman.

On Killing Basic Premise: That killing is fundamentally destructive to the psyche, and to overcome our natural disinclination towards killing, the military has created training programs that help circumvent this and allows them to kill. This training does nothing to alleviate the PTSD killing causes. (You could skip this book, but it shows the mechanism of why you are hurting and that may help you. It has lots of stories for you to see that you're not alone, which is also helpful.

[On Combat] (http://www.amazon.com/Combat-Psychology-Physiology-Deadly-Conflict/dp/0964920549/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8) Basic Premise: If you buy everything said in 'On Killing', that killing tears at your soul and psyche, then this is a book for Soldiers and Police to minimize the hurt and pain they are going through with what society asks of them. Some of the stuff would have been good to know before you killed the guy, but lots of it can be applied now.

Keep your chin up, and know that memories will fade. You did nothing wrong and your life is more important than the man who was going to kill you.

PM me if you want to, I may not have the PhDs your therapist does, but I've got life experience and come tons cheaper comparatively.
