Usually Amazon has pretty good deals on surge tanks.

Never use stop leak products, this will not cure your problem and cause clogging issues in various cooling system passages in a Northstar.

Naturally right after I make a post I remember this thing called Google and find what I need.

It looks like it's a little door chime speaker thing but behind it is actually a small fan.

I used to love the old school ones that hung on the windows... like this I remember them as a kid when we didn't run the A/C in the car because "it burned too much gas"

Done! In case anyone else needs plugs for their CTS4 3.0L, here's the info for NGK plugs (my preferred brand):

NGK 6509, LTR6IX-11, Iridium IX

Gap: .044"

Socket size: 5/8"

Amazon has a slightly better price than RockAuto.

2003 CTS owner here. Just hit 103,000.

Bought the car with 72,000 on it for $11,500.

Replaced so far:

  • Valve Cover Gaskets and valve covers. (leaky valve cover seals led to oil in the piston wells and misfires, common in 3.2l V6)
  • Timing Belt (preventative maintenance)
  • Water Pump (preventative maintenance)
  • Rack and pinion (leaking)

    Replaced for fun:

  • HIDs in the fogs, and headlights
  • Tinted windows
  • Powder coated rims
  • CTS-V grille
  • All interior lights replaced with crist white LEDs.
  • Some exterior lights replaced with LEDs
  • FMMOD02 (in line FM modulator for hookup with any device that has a headphone jack.

    The good:

  • Decent gas mileage
  • Aggressive body style 03-07 turns lots of heads

    The Bad:

  • Big tires are not cheap
  • 3.2l prone to have leaky valve cover gaskets
  • 2003 tend to have the clear rear valence cover fall off
  • 3.6l have issue with the T-Chain and rear differential
  • a lot of the first gen CTS tend to have the 3rd breaklight fail. However it can be repaired for 10 bucks by removing the neon tubes and replacing them with LED strips off ebay (go with red not white! white ends up looking pink)

    The Ugly:

Cadillacs parts tend to be cheaper than a lot of other vehicles in its class, however its still an expensive car to fix. The above repairs ran me $2000 and thats with me buying my own parts and having them installed.

I know a whole lot about this vehicle. If this subreddit doesnt quite quench your thirst meet us over at cadillacfourms.com Here is my favorite thread.

Back in the day, we used to buy aftermarket 'consoles'. They were plastic atrocities like this. There were also little plastic things that could be hung from the window track that were stand-alone cup-holders.

Also, back when drunk driving was called "Falling asleep at the wheel", my father used to hold his beer between his legs, like you described. I can't tell you how many times he said, "Get me a beer from the cooler," as we tooled along on the highway.
