Ok, so I am a casual COD competitive fan, but I wanted to give my 2 cents about this issue. As much as it sucks to have one team overshadow the rest of the players, and have them not get the same promotion as a top streamer like Scump, there are soooo many things that a lot these players can do to help their cause instead of complaining about not getting a retweet from CWL or sponsors or whomever.

-You want more natural viewers? Put up a camera like 99% of all successful streamers. Also, light the fucking room. Put a lamp near your face, turn on the overhead lights in your bedroom, and stop having 90% of the camera shot be your messy bed and your ceiling. If you think the lamp light looks weird, here are $10 pieces of plastic that can change the lighting of basically anything when you clip them to the light. If you think your room looks weird, turn your desk around and have the camera face the wall. Put up your teams t-shirt on the wall, or a poster, or anything that looks good and it is instantly 100x better.

-Another note on production value, if you are streaming without an overlay....why even bother. It is the most basic thing that you can add to your stream to instantly improve the quality. If you don't have a reputable graphics go-to guy, pay $50-$100 to some cod fan on the internet and they can make you one. If you're broke, spend one of your off days and learn the basics of Photoshop and do it yourself.

-Also the interaction with the chat is another important aspect of the success of guys like Scump and others. Aside from just talking with them, he's doing giveaways every X number of subscribers. Obviously not every player can give away pricier things like Scump, but shit get some t-shirts made and give those out signed or something. At a certain point its simple math. If you are making $250 off 100 subscribers, spend $25 of that on a giveaway. These young COD fans don't care, they just want a prize from one of their favorite players.

-If you're boring, then that's the only thing that isn't straight forward, and I don't think anyone can help you there. But guys like Aches and Clayster who have super polarizing and entertaining personalities don't have any excuse on that front.

If these pro players want to see serious results and success on Twitch that is even a tenth of what a guy like Scump can get, then they have to start taking it seriously as a business. Because the time to make money streaming is now, and in about 2 years there will be some young kid who is going to take your place on your roster and he's going to be fucking fluent in Twitch, because he spent half his childhood watching streams.

Stop looking outward at the lack of your success, and start fixing your own damn shit.

EDIT:

ALSO, as long as I am ranting, why don't some of these orgs make a team stream???? If your whole team is scrimming or in a 2k, and they are all streaming their POV, get some nerd on the internet to splice it all together live with an overlay and have them switch back and forth COD caster style. Obviously it wont be as good as a professional crew like CWL has, but jesus a lot of people have the computing power already that can do it. I think this is something that even huge teams like Optic should be taking advantage of, especially considering all the resources they have.

MULTI-TWITCH IS LITERALLY FREE. Hustle together some sort of set-up that looks half decent, and if you're feeling real froggy, throw in someone from the community to do commentary.

Hooking up astro's to the computer is super easy if you have the 2013 mix amp. All you need to do is plug a jack from the livestream port into your computers mic socket. Then, in the mp3 port, plug a jack into that and connect it to your PC's headphone port.

You will need to buy a mic though, otherwise if you use the astro mic to talk, your team/friends will hear themselves and your game. You can buy decent mics for under £20.

Below, I will link one which I use to use and can guarantee amazing quality:

I thought I would be a nice guy and give you both ebay and Amazon choices, as well as giving you the correct website (.co.uk or .com) to buy from :)

Hope this helped :)

These Headphones
and an Audio-technica AT2020 or a Blue Yeti is my personal favorite setup for the price and quality. I have had alot of headphones, this was the best for the price I got it at. I would take this setup over Astros any day and the headphones can be used for music aswell.

Edit: Sennheiser Headsets such as the G4ME ONES are superior to the Astros imo. The MixAmp is probably the best thing with the Astros and is really handy for gaming.

These are just the best headsets, in my opinion, for their price. If you can spend more than $200, you can get awesome headphones.

Just got my TurtleBeach P11s (I am on PS3 and not upgrading and they are PS3 only) and I love them. PX22 are MLG certified and are amazing. P11s might have an X360 version but I would go PX22 for another $20. The Black Ops 2 Kilo or XRAY are also very good and are both under $100. I've used Tritton Kunais but didn't like them because they are on ear instead of over ear but they sound really good. SteelSeries Siberia V2 is also a nice option but for consoles, you need the mixer which puts you over $100. All are wired (except the XRAY, I think the 1st and 3rd in that series of headsets are wired but the 2nd and 4th are wireless).

I'm assuming xbox?
I always prefer wired to wireless. I'd reccomend the turtlebeach DLX1, which includes a DSS2 sound processor(similar to an astro mixamp). The headphones are very comfortable. I have one, and you can plug connect your pc to the DSS2, and have pc sound and xbox sound at the same time. Usually 100 dollars 75 bucks on amazon right here Those are also surround sound so really the best deal in my opinion. If you break your headphones you can still get surround sound if you keep the DSS2 processor, and plug in any pair of headphones.

Edit: the DSS2 alone costs about 65 bucks so this is a really good deal wish I would've gotten it myself.

24" BenQ monitor, 2013 Astro A40s, Scuf controller.

The BenQ is a nice monitor. Good picture and a solid price.

You can't beat Astros imo, but it's personally preference. I've seen people say Tritons are the best and Astros suck, vice-versa, etc. I've had a few pairs of Turtle Beaches in the past, and the Astros really do blow them out of the water in sound, controls, and comfort.

The Scuf is something you get used to. I never thought I needed one then decided to get it. After a few weeks, I could never see myself playing without one. It has became complete muscle memory to jump (a lot).

I also have an ElGato capture card. If you're going to get into Gamebattles or tourneys online, some sort of capture card is pretty much 100% needed because you will get disputed for either no reason at all, or for ridiculous reasons that you can only prove with footage. It was $150 or something, but worth it if you play a lot of GB's.

Here's my setup.

Overall, over the past year, I've spent around $500 on my setup. Seems ridiculous now that I look at that price, but eh, if you can afford it, it makes the game more enjoyable.

Here are some links for those curious:

Astro mixamp. Tritton Trigger Series headset. Mix-amp can be found here. Currently out of stock, however. You can email the guy, he's pretty quick with his response.

You'll also need a power and optical for the mix-amp, because it is not included. The power cable can be purchased here and optical either here or on Astro's Site

After you get all that, just hook the USB to your PC, optical ends to the 1 and to the Amp. Then, if you have a headset like mine, you just run the headset's cable to the bottom of the amp. Hope this helps.

Just got this one, seems to be fine and pretty cheap.

u/-BioNic- · 4 pointsr/CoDCompetitive

This Is pretty much what we used at AEL Dallas for the side stations. Mainstage was one of these since we had to connect a caster Xbox.

u/Aytrx · 3 pointsr/CoDCompetitive

An ethernet desktop switch. I have this one, so you could buy 2 of those or buy one bigger one.(16 port one). The 8 port switch wouldn't work because there would be 8 players but one of the ports must be used for the internet connection from your router or modem. LAN stand for Local Area Network, so that means you all need to be connected to the same ip.
