So, rather than focus on the politics side except to try to subdue the Tories, why not try to grassroots it and have the Mosaic/Liberal/Green/NDP people recognise and negotiate with the country of Denendeh, with the nation of Hebrews, with the countries of the Wabanaki Confederacy, with the nation of LSQ Deaf .. and let them take the space they have always needed?

>requiring every new nation to immediately develop its own healthcare and education system, we look ridiculous. Focusing on actually achieving justice, respect, and equality for First Nations people, as well as implementing legal protections for the sovereignty of those nations and improving relations between provincial and federal governments that respects the tribes, is something tangible that we can actually do.

This plan does not require anything. What it does is it allows nations to take over healthcare, education, etc., but the provincial nations maintain the current systems and remain a catch-all. So if a nation wants its own healthcare system, it can, but it does not need to build one themselves.

Focusing on equality, justice and sovereignty for First Nations peoples as well as Inuit and Métis is recognising their countries. Métis just signed a major deal with Canada, protecting a lot of mitchif piyii (their country) and, again, Inuit govern Inuit Nunangat more and more exclusively each day. They need the land back, and really all that means is shifting our language about the land.. and using "country" I firmly believe is the way forward (especially because territory implies domination or being lesser; states and countries have territories). Because, what other solution is there? Canada (and the US and Australia and...) stole the lands, the countries, from every nation and maintain in ironclad grip 99.8% of the lands/waters/ices. Where do you think decolonisation would go except for recognising the countries for what they are, what they were and what they have always been?

It doesn’t exactly dig deep into theory, but I found Danny Katch’s Socialism ... Seriously really accessible and readable if a bit goofy at times.

Also, if you want to recommend some YouTube videos to him, check out Beau of the Fifth Column.

Oh right, it got torn apart by critics, that explains the 5-star rating on Amazon and the overwhelmingly positive reviews... https://www.amazon.com/Chapo-Guide-Revolution-Manifesto-Against/dp/1501187287

Still, you should email Virgil about your dislike of the show, I am sure he would appreciate the feedback.

Gurdjieff was a Sufi mystic who has a book written by one of his students, Ouspensky, called In Search of the Miraculous. You may find some profound and useful material of Gurdjieff in this book.

> less a marxist and more of lacanian psychoanalysist

>Peterson probably should argue with an actual marxist.

But old school Marxism was dead and splintered into a thousand factions long ago. The 'post-modern neo Marxists' are Peterson's main targets.

Philosopher Roger Roger Scruton wrote a book on that whole philosophical tendency long before the modern culture war with Fools, Frauds and Firebrands: Thinkers of the New Left. Zizek is right there in the last chapter of the latest edition. I have not gotten around to reading it properly yet but a scan of that chapter would seem to fit well with Peterson's themes. The main critique seems to be something like that Zizek uses his Lacanian framework to opt out of the morality of real consequences (such as human suffering) to a morality of ideas based on intention. Scrution quotes Zizek saying that the difference between the Russian Gulag and the Nazi concentration camp is the difference between civilisation and barbarism. With the gulag on the virtuous side. Given Peterson's moral philosophy is based on suffering as evil in itself and his thought influenced by reflecting on the gulag, I am sure there was the potential for some proper metapysical fireworks, which seems to have been missed.

Mark Fisher actually has another book called Ghosts of My Life: Writings on Depression, Hauntology and Lost Futures that I think goes into hauntology a lot more than Capitalist Realism (I haven't read either yet but I've heard the YouTuber Cuck Philosophy that was linked in the OP talk about his work a lot).

> Land is a terrifying postmodern fascist.

Is post-modern fascism a thing? It seems that alt-right types usually hate post-modernism and consider it related to Marxism. Jordan Peterson has basically spent his whole career waging war against whatever he calls postmodernism. But I have heard Cuck Philosophy mention that there are a few right-wingers that embrace post-modern philosophy (not specifically fascists thought).

ThE AnTI-fASciTs ArE tHe ReAl FasCiStS!

Your comment is the height of ignorance. Honestly, I'm not even sure how someone on this sub could hold that opinion unless you stumbled upon it by mistake. Antifa groups do not target anyone except fascists. When fascist activity dies down, the anti fascist activity dies down with it. They don't turn on the next group of people as fascists would. There is no ANTIFA group. There are antifa groups like the Rose City Antifa, Anti-Racist Action, Redneck Revolt... and many, many others, but ANTIFA is a just shorthand for anti-fascism.

"The queer quest is to survive, the fascist quest is to be the only survivor." - Natalie herself said that. Replace queer with any oppressed group and the fascists are coming for them. And when the fascists do come you can't change who you are. You're fucked. You can't stop being a Jew or black or etc... but, if you are fascist and the anti-fascists come for you, then you can just say you're going to change and they will let you change. A large amount of anti-fascists are converted fascists. That makes antifa groups very not fascist. Trying to draw an equivalence is either buying into right wing propaganda or just plain dumb.

Olly really goes in depth about this and Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook lays out a pretty good picture of what antifa is and what antifa groups do. I suggest you educate yourself about the people who are sacrificing so much to fight real fascism.
