>Does anyone have experience dealing with "co-parenting" with narcissists. How can I protect my son?

I recommend checking out Coparenting With a Toxic Ex - I haven't read it, but I read a different book on parental alienation by the same author that was excellent and incredibly helpful. If you're also concerned your ex is turning (or could turn) your son against you, then also read Divorce Poison.

The best thing you can do, as /u/phyrebrand said, is to prove that you are the better parent. I can't speak for Canada but I know US courts do not look favorably on one parent requesting to limit another parent's access to the child, so that tactic could backfire. Emotional abuse is hard to prove.

Whether for this case or the next time you're in court, it's essential that you start documenting absolutely everything. Make sure all communication with your STBX is in writing (text or email), document any incidents with your son that concern you, document document document. Over time, you may be able to prove your case better.

Also, read this book. This was a total game changer for me and my kids, as I gifted them when they were of age.. mid teens. It helped me endure other people that are extremely difficult and it's interesting as hell with some of the stories in it. I think this is what made me say "HOLY FUCK, THERE IS A NAME FOR THIS BEHAVIOR!!!"
