Start with Daredevil The Man Without Fear by Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. It’s pretty much his definitive origin, and what Season 1 of Netflix Daredevil was really inspired by. https://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-Without-Fear-Frank-Miller/dp/0785134794

Then you can pick up Daredevil Vol. 1 by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson which is the start of their run and continue on the next volumes 2 and 3 https://www.amazon.com/DAREDEVIL-FRANK-MILLER-KLAUS-JANSON/dp/0785134735

Daredevil Born Again by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli which is the most famous of the Daredevil stories and what Season 3 of Netflix Daredevil was heavily inspired by https://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-Born-Again-Frank-Miller/dp/0785134816

Then if you want a kind of sequel to Born Again, pick up Daredevil Guardian Devil by Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada. Season 3 of Netflix Daredevil also takes a lot from this story https://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-Guardian-Devil-Kevin-Smith/dp/078514143X

Mark Waid’s run is a lot more modern and not nearly as dark or gritty, it’s more adventurous and swashbuckling compared to the darker grittier Frank Miller stuff, but it is good as well!

An official US Blu-Ray release for Season 1 has come and gone. It's currently out of print. But you can still find limited copies on Amazon for like $80 bucks.

An official international region free Blu-Ray release for season 1 and 2 exists and is worthwhile as well. Also available here and here on Amazon. No special features, but produced by Disney and can play on any Blu-Ray player.

If you look for them on ebay, a UK company called Zavvi also released official steelbooks for both seasons. They sold out and are now availble through auction if you are looking to find them.

Season 3 will probably not happen - nor will Defenders, as Netflix has abandoned the Marvel shows. It's possible in the future that they may release a Box set of some sort, but it's highly unlikely as they are looking to shed the brand with Disney moving into its own streaming network.

HOWEVER - Netflix has been releasing the HD seasons in digital market places (amazon, itunes, googleplay) about one year after it's initial streaming release on Netflix.

Hope this helps.

Everything from about 1999 onwards for Daredevil has been good. Everybody has their different tastes, but Smith-Bendis-Waid-Soule-Zdarsky is all essential stuff you should read. And of course, the classic Miller run, which is where Daredevil first started getting good.

If you really want to be a completionist, pick up the Essential Daredevil and read through the first 25 issues just to see what Silver Age Daredevil was actually like.

I thought Bernthal was amazing as Punisher, best screen adaptation so far. I loved Elektra, I think she had a ton of charisma and she brought the character to life. She reminded me so much of the Elektra in this story (which they took certain things from): http://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-The-Man-Without-Fear/dp/0785134786

You have 3 options:

  • Get the 2 omnibuses.

    > > > Vol 1

    > > > Vol 2

  • Get the 11 tpbs, which also have hardcover editions.

    > > > Vol 1

    > > > Vol 2

    > > > Vol 3

    > > > Vol 4

    > > > Vol 5

    > > > Vol 6

    > > > Vol 7

    > > > Then the run gets renumbered, so

    > > > Vol 1

    > > > Vol 2

    > > > Vol 3

    > > > Vol 4

  • Get the 5 oversized hardcovers.

    > > > Vol 1

    > > > Vol 2

    > > > Vol 3

    > > > Vol 4

    > > > Vol 5

Or you can just wait (and hope) for larger paperback editions. That's what I'm doing.

By the way, I only posted the amazon links cause it's easier to search there and most people will probably be more familiar with this website, but if you can support any local businesses, then do that.

Trade Paper Back, it collects the relevant stories of a run and organizes it numerically so you don't have to shuffle through comic books since collecting single issues can be a hassle

https://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-Back-Black-Vol-Chinatown/dp/0785196447

this one compiles the 5 issues for the Chinatown arc that you're interested in.

TPBs are much easier to collect and follow than single issues and if you're jumping into comics I would suggest going that route

Daredevil: Season 3 (Original Soundtrack Album) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JCNBKG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_FZxYBbNQJ7NVM

It's up now. I just downloaded it.

I just hope he releases expanded season 1 and 2 because there is a ton more I want from those

u/tehawesomedragon · 2 pointsr/Daredevil

You're better off buying part 1 of that here and part 2 here.

Thank you so much.

So if I got it right to get the whole Soule run I should start with Daredevil: Back in Black Vol. 1 - Chinatown (and not Daredevil: Back In Black Vol. 5: Supreme

But I was wondering if maybe it would be less $ demanding to start from Mackay first and then maybe get the Soule run from the beginning.

I have this one
but I'm a bit of a sucker for DD memorabilia.
