So I linked the entire sidebar, because I think it is important to get a baseline of what is good or bad and why.

  • B1W very cheap dash cam, but has good video quality with minor flaws, and wifi/cellphone app. 1 channel. Typical of Chinese products, expect higher maintenance - Formatting every 30-45 days, check/update firmware 30-45 days, check over all dash cam operation 30-45 days.

  • A119 v2 - probably the best video quality dash cam on the market. Typical of Chinese products, expect higher maintenance - Formatting every 30-45 days, check/update firmware 30-45 days, check over all dash cam operation 30-45 days.

  • A129 2CH - First of the 2 Channel dash cams. Typical of Chinese products, expect higher maintenance - Formatting every 30-45 days, check/update firmware 30-45 days, check over all dash cam operation 30-45 days. Has Wifi/cellphone app.

    ----

In the dashcam world there are two very specific types of dash cams.

  • Excellent video quality, Fair build quality, Lackluster parking mode dash cams: These are built for new dash cam buyers wants. Lackluster parking mode isn't bad, it just lacks one or more of the features of Excellent parking mode. Fair build quality, minor bugs/errors to be expected - keep up with firmware updates expected.

  • Excellent build quality, Excellent parking mode, Good/Fair video quality dash cams: These are built for veteran dash cam buyers wants. Excellent build quality, few if any flaws/bugs, maintenance is largely optional, and more functional bells and whistles. Excellent parking mode: Automatic Engage/Disengage; Buffered - able to record a few seconds before and after G sensor and/or Motion sensor activation (like a time machine;) Built in (or Recommended hardwire kit) Low voltage cut off feature (Adjustable) Voltage/Time based. Good/Fair video quality is far from Excellent, you should check it. Good video quality does exist in this dash cam type. Excellent video quality does exist in this dash cam type (expensive though.)

    ---

  • BlackSys CH-100B 2CH - This is the first Korean product in the list. Video quality can be underwhelming. BlackSys CH-100B 2CH, and BlackSys CH-200 2CH are simple good dash cams with wifi/cellphone app.

  • I would also check out BlackVue products (even though they are out of your price range) - Cloud feature is really cool. Expensive but cool thing.

  • Thinkware - F800/F800 Pro have Cloud, but Thinkware F770 is interesting to look at.

Anyways, Googling the name of dash cam + sample video Day/Night/Shadow is important.

    Dashcamtalk.com has excellent written reviews.

Youtubers: Blackboxmycar, USDashcam, and CarCamCentral have excellent video reviews.

You want people that point out flaws, cheerleaders are not useful. Every dash cam has tiny quirks which makes a difference in ownership. There is no perfect dash cam.
