I don't actually know why sorry. If I could find my copy of this I could maybe say:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0881792128

Best guess it has something to do with the arrangement of our eyes, but that's entirely my guess, and not a very educated one.

Good/quality design is making sure that as many aspects of a design as possible at least look intentional. In Modern/Swiss design (what most design today is based off of) this means keeping spacing/line-weights consistent, either the same, or from some sort of set/sequence. Keeping all of your horizontal lines, in the figure and the implied lines between, the same is very pleasing to the eye, and generally "looks better".

At the moment the thin slash through the middle is different enough from all the other white-spaces that it should maybe be a bit wider, though the designer should take care of that after dealing the the cross-bar on the A, just in case it's just that comparison that looks off.

Does that help?

I did not see books 4-6 in paperback

The author is Edward Gibbon
This set is no longer accepted as reliable source materials. (apparently some "facts" are just made up)

I recommend books from Peter Connolly they are well done and approachable with a lot of great illustrations.

Where do you live that your home is not subject to code? You are misinformed. There is an extensive code book that deals with residential structures. There is a entire govt body that deals with permits, inspections and code review. You have friends who visit and plan to sell your home? Better be inspected and have a Certificate of Occupancy. Need to have that to get Insurance on your home. Code is basically how to build a home without killing the future occupants. Code is the basic minimums for a safe home.

It takes special balls, and laziness to shamelessly copy a multi-award winning campaign of the top brand in your category. For God'sake, there's even an Absolut book with hundreds of such ads.

You might like this [book] (https://www.amazon.com/G%C3%B6del-Escher-Bach-Eternal-Golden/dp/0465026567)...Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid, the cover has an even better whatever you call that effect/illusion.

If anyone wants to know how we got where we are today, read Tom Wolfe's From Bauhaus To Our House. Great book that lays out the story of how modernism came to dominate architecture.

If you’ve never burgled before here’s some guidelines

  1. Don’t kill anyone unless you’re about to die, you’re there for money for addiction or because you’re in poverty. Killing someone only gets you in more trouble.

  2. Don’t burglarize a House with people in it. This means you might get arrested or killed, if they’re is a car out front it’s probably a no go

  3. Don’t rob a house on your street. Only dumbasses do this.

  4. Don’t rob a house with security. This includes with dogs because they’re basically smell alarms. If a dog is home a person probably is too.

I’ve never robbed a house because I was just lucky enough to be born into a beneficial economic situation. You gotta understand the psychology of a burglar. While your scenario is possible, dogs are still great preventive measures and a burglar can know you have a dog and leave because they don’t want to die. They’ll hear the dog definitely before they hear you and coupled with the fact have no idea you have a gun and they’re going to have to make a flight or fight response when they see you in the house. Not good for a homeowner. Consider evidence that guns don’t prevent crime, in fact they sometimes increase crime and that most burglars want cash, not to kick down your door just to cap your dog. I also recommend the book How To Make Money On Your Spare Time.
