HOW TO SPEAK WOOKIEEHOW TO SPEAK WOOKIEEChronicle
Don't be nervous. Get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Unofficial-Guide-Disneyland-2012-Guides/dp/1118012283
Plan your itinerary right and the lines won't be so bad. Your 3-year-old will love it.
Make sure you go to Cafe Orleans or the Blue Bayou and get the Monte Cristo sandwich. Thank me when you get back.
To meet Aurora, either go to the Princess Fantasy Faire or dine in Ariel's Grotto, expect to pay about $120 but the food is very good. Get an autograph book, because your daughter will definitely get to talk to the princesses more if she has a book for them to sign.
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will do a princess makeover on your little girl... buy her a princess dress ahead of time to save money, then for $50 she will get her hair done, makeup, glitter, get a ring, a tiara, a sash, and a princess backpack with makeup kit to take home. Totally worth it.
Skip the World of Color, but see Fantasmic.
Sleeping Beauty castle walkthrough is great to do in the heat of the day, if she likes Aurora. It's cool inside and you can do it at your own pace.
I went during spring break last year. The lines were usually not too bad if you plan it right. My 3 1/2 year old went from 8am to 12am without leaving the park for a break. That's how much she loved Disneyland.
Roller Coasters, Flumes and Flying Saucers is out of print but available on the kindle. It has the story of Arrow Development who did the ride systems for a bunch of disneyland rides.
Building A Better Mouse Tells the story of the construction of Epcot written by the electrical engineer for the American Adventure. It doesn't go into huge technical detail but it's also cool to read about the WDW resort before Eisner developed the it.
If you can find back issues of "The E ticket" magazine they're pretty good. Each issue focused on one attraction with tons of construction and backstage photos. It's no longer in print but there were also CDs made with multiple issues in PDF format
I just went looking for a defunct magazine that had the best description of disney anamatronics I've ever seen and couldn't find it on amazon or ebay so you'll have to make due with a free copy of the article. It's about the figures made for the 1964 world's fair.
There are other podcasts and interviews with imagineers I've seen online but I don't know how you wrap a website for father's day.
And in a bit of shameless self promotion here are blueprints of all sorts of disney rides that I've drawn myself
It's somewhat hard to navigate but someone maintains a Haunted Mansion wiki with everything we know about everything in the mansion.
This book goes into the themes/storylines the writers were going for when they created the mansion. It also talks about various ideas that they had that were scrapped like the Museum of the Weird. It's a good read.
There's also this recent comic which had a structured story about a boy who wants to help save his grandpa's spirit from the Mansion. This story didn't blow me away as it's clearly meant for a younger audience but it was alright.
Yeah, okay I understand your point. A thesis/dissertation is most likely profitable when its topic is practical for a customer's use. But your thoughts on tattoos as branding (while interesting) would be more relevant for a business/law degree than his American Studies.
>I'm sure your friend is fabulously wealthy from it.

Agree! If people are looking for a reusable straw, I found one at my local grocery store that is very similar to this one on Amazon. Works great, easy to clean and carry.
I have a couple that I've loved:
Walt Disney Imagineering Behind Dreams
And version 2 of the book:
Walt Disney Imagineering Behind Dreams 2
I've also really enjoyed this one:
Disney Mountains Imagineering at its Peak
I recommend The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. It's really helpful and the daily itineraries are awesome.

I've wanted that poster art book for a long, long time.
If they are a huge Disney nerd and are thirsting for behind the scenes stories and learning things that they likely have never heard about before then I would recommend The Progress City Primer. Fantastic book.
As many have mentioned, the Tubes of You is a good place. If you need titles to start searching, check out any of these on Amazon (might be a fair bit of redundancy, I just grabbed a handful of URLs):
https://www.amazon.com/Disneyland-Resort-Official-Album-Set/dp/B00FA2ZJU4
https://www.amazon.com/Musical-History-Disneyland-50th-Anniversary/dp/B000AA4MHM
https://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-Records-Legacy-Collection/dp/B0106438AS <- Based on the cover, this looks to be the Spotify playlist /u/whitesoxfan5622 mentioned.
If none of those lists contain quite what you're looking for, try contacting City Hall in Disneyland with the specifics and they might be able to help you out/point you in the right direction.
If and when it's no longer a surprise, consider picking up Going To Disneyland - A Guide for Kids & Kids at Heart from Amazon. It's useful both before and during a trip.
Don't worry about the crowds - they are generally inevitable and unavoidable. Just spend the next few months planning and getting excited about your trip, getting the lay of the land and possibly even prioritizing rides and coming up with some strategies. You'll be fine.
Everything I Need to Know I Learned From a Disney Little Golden Book (Disney) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0736434259/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uvFQDbBHZZQHV
I am going to buy this book to have characters sign for my nieces. I thought it would be a fun souvenir for them and it didn’t limit me to finding a specific character. Does anyone know if it would be okay to have them sign two books? Sorry if this is a silly question :)
Aside from the plushes (regular one and another different talking one) and the backpack, there is also a Funko figurine and this mug: https://imgur.com/PiCi3r4
I've also seen a kid's book called "Chewie and the Porgs" which looks pretty cute: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Last-Chewie-Porgs/dp/1484780760
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0106438AS/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1453487962&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX118_SY170_QL70&keywords=disneyland
This one was pretty cool
But you may want to look into some of the "facts" behind 3rd wave feminism. [Here] (https://www.amazon.com/War-Against-Boys-Misguided-Policies/dp/1501125427/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J5D4SKX8NC5V3C3HF5H9) is a great place to start.
The Circle Sessions is great for this!

Read this one a long time ago and enjoyed it.

Here are my favorites:
Unofficial Disneyland Encyclopedia
Mouse Tales
The Disney Mountains
This book shares a common author and comes out in October...REALLY looking forward to this one! https://www.amazon.com/Maps-Disney-Parks-Charting-California/dp/1484715470/ref=sr_1_1
I have been there, I would recommend this book highly. It really is worth the price vs what it has in it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1481832352/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1481832352&linkCode=as2&tag=myliafde-20
We spent 4 days there and it was the right amount I think. 2 days at each park. We were there before opening every day. We took the "limo service" from the airport to the hotel. (Its like a bus) See the water show at Disney Sea. Once you get there, the worry and confusion fades away as everything is very familiar. Check the weather vs the time of year you are going, the weather is a lot more varied there.
From what I remember from this book by Kevin Yee, for the first year at least (2001) it was cast members who worked on setting it up. That year it was a project of Disneyland's internal entertainment art department and Imagineering wasn't involved. But for the next year WDI took over and it probably got changed along the way - sometimes I look to see if Kevin is in the list but I haven't found him there.
You can get the book written by Richard Sherman and the CD with the source audio on Amazon

That's the second in the series. Here's the first one which is fantastic.
