Timothy Leary wrote this one, it's pretty interesting! https://www.amazon.com/Psychedelic-Experience-Tibetan-Citadel-Underground/dp/0806516526

It's a psychedelic trip guide based on the Tibetan book of the dead.

I'm sure I could have found a better link for you, but the amazon reviews are pretty cool! Might be what you are looking for.

I'm sure you can find a pdf or audiobook online easily :)

Good luck <3

Whether you go for the LSD or not (seems what most people recommend), get Nitrous Oxide, my favourite "solo" drug. I tried it with groups of friends, but I find I enjoy it MUCH more alone. Shame about it's duration (less than one minute typically for one canister).

I've heard it's orders of magnitude more awesome in conjunction with LSD, but never got the chance to try LSD myself (although it works well in conjunction with every other drug there is, particularly psychedelic (or even semi psychedelic like weed or MDMA) drugs.

Although, hiding it might be a bit difficult, as you need heavy canisters (lots if them, a "few" is never enough :P ), and you need to discharge it into something else first (cream dispenser or baloons) and that will make quite a bit of noise. But there's no smell or mess to clean besides throwing the canisters in the bin (or preferrably recycle them)

Best thing is you can get them on amazon !

Tip: Get some b-complex pills if you plan on using a lot, take 2 or so before the session and same after the session (or the next day), as it depletes vitamin b12 after heavy prolonged use (a few weeks everyday or something like that). It's likely not an issue if you will use it a few times only, but better be safe than sorry.

Pretty much what others have said. Psychedelics can trigger a release of built-up emotion, whether positive or negative, and it's very cathartic. This book might be a good read if you're interested in tripping. Basically, it's important to have a positive set (your current mindstate and emotional framework) and setting (your physical surroundings, the people you're with).

Having an established meditation practice will greatly help you navigate through trips, I'd also highly recommend checking out some of Nick Sand's stuff. Here's a link to some podcasts featuring him. Nick Sand produced the famous 'Orange Sunshine' batch of LSD.

Psychedelics are very powerful drugs. Do your homework before deciding to take them, as I've seen some people go on very bad trips due to emotional instability and pent-up stress.

My husband and I have recently realized that LSD is now our favorite drug. We're amazed that something so tiny have such a crazy profound effect on your mind.

We've started reading "How to change your mind" by Michael Pollan and it's fascinating. He talks about the history of LSD in clinical studies in the 50-70s and that the drug influenced a lot of organizations, including the beginning of Alcoholics Anonymous.

If you're interested in learning more about the drug, it's definitely an interesting read, it would be even better on audio book.

Well, I never said I believe that the songs actually communicate with the spirits or heal anyone. I can state however that shamanic singing can OBJECTIVELY modulate the experience of a group of people on Ayahuasca.

Over the course of a given ceremony, Icaros directly control the 'journey' of everyone participating. The shamans employ different Icaros at different times for different effects. Some of them bring you 'up' some of them bring you 'down'. Some of them them encourage introspection, some laughter, and still others intense visualization or body effects. They do this group modulation with intention and know exactly what they're doing.

If you don't see how something like that is possible, then yes, we do need to agree to disagree for now and I suggest you get some education. :)

u/gontishaman · 3 pointsr/Drugs

follow up question:

During my first ceremony, the first thing that happened to me was that I felt an extremely comfortable, mother-like vibe, and I knew I would be okay. After reading http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0199252939 , I learned that is extremely common for people to encounter (mama ayahuasca) their first time. Did you have a similar feeling? Just a comfortable, euphoria, a motherly vibe?

This is a book about a large-scale scientific study that showed that about two-thirds of participants encountered alien higher intelligences and accessed other dimensions on ayahusaca:
https://www.amazon.com/Antipodes-Mind-Phenomenology-Ayahuasca-Experience/dp/0199252939

I too have had that experience, many many times. And again, I recommend that anyone interested in the truth breakthrough on DMT rather than listening to this internet troll. peace.

I own this book, The Chemistry of Mind Altering Drugs. Excellent read that goes into every detail of the drug, history, pharmacology, synthesis, etc. It also includes a organic chemistry lesson in the appendix. Highly recommended

u/Bishoppeter78 · 10 pointsr/Drugs

Highly recommend some of these. Hopefully none of your friends have lice so they don't mind sharing.

There's a book called Buzzed that is pretty much what you are talking about, written by a team of people with Ph.D.s. Me personally, I would buy that one over one from some random person on reddit. Just me though.

u/JerryG_ · 1 pointr/Drugs

Check out The Chemistry of Mind-Altering Drugs: History, Pharmacology, and Cultural Context. This book is a good match for your description. It is published by the American Chemical Society. It's not too heavy on the biochemistry aspect of psychoactive drugs, just the chemistry of the drug molecules themselves.

u/Adam4nt · 1 pointr/Drugs

This could be of use. A nice milligram scale, and cheap.

u/marshall007 · 1 pointr/Drugs

These tabs are much easier to hold down than syrup for me.

I use these. Cheap, and work as well as I want them to.

glass vials in a dark place at room temp (not sure if either one of those makes a difference, but it couldn't hurt)

u/metroidaddict · 4 pointsr/Drugs

You will be overspending tremendously on pills. Just buy 00 size gelatin caps and fill in with the amount of caffeine you want. The caffeine pills cost $350 for the same amount compared to a $35 1000g bag.

u/adriennemonster · 3 pointsr/Drugs

She also wrote a book about her experiences with Pickard and Appersen called Lysergic. Unfortunately, the impression I get from reviews is that she isn't the ideal person to be giving us insight into the synthesizing process.

I don't know man...move to Seattle. I saw people hitting the cracker in public areas quite commonly during my years living there, as nitrous is extremely commonly sold in like every smoke shop around the city and they advertise the fuck out of it; There's even a big cardboard cut-out person holding a whip cream canister advertising it (https://www.amazon.com/Whip-It-Whipped-Cream-Chargers-50-Pack/dp/B001MUJHKG It's a life-sized cutout of the girl on this box )

The vagrants who can't afford nitrous chargers are sitting on the sidewalk huffing cans of spray paint...another thing that I came across more than one time. But yeah man, there are lots of empty chargers laying around the city.

This book is a reasonable, balanced, non-judgmental presentation of every major category of drugs. They talk about heroin, speed, cannabis, hallucinogens, everything. They just give the facts, without ever trying to tell you what you should or shouldn't do.

Except for the section on inhalants. In that section alone, the authors saw fit to include a disclaimer, in bold letters, something to the effect of: due to the dangerous and brain-damaging nature of the chemicals in this section, the authors of this book DO NOT RECOMMEND the recreational use of inhalants in any form

u/frozenyogurttheif · 3 pointsr/Drugs

You're not supposed to use a mask. Ever.

There's a very simple reason for this. One of the only ways to die with nitrous oxide is with a mask. Nitrous oxide displaces oxygen. If you lose control of yourself by passing out for example and something is still pumping it into you then you can suffocate.

The only way to safely take nitrous oxide is by using food-grade nitrous oxide canisters, preferably with a whipped creamer as those are designed to be used with the canisters. You then expel the gas from the whipped creamer into a balloon and take a breath from the balloon. The balloon is necessar

I'd advice you to stop before you kill yourself. Food grade nitrous oxide canisters can be bought anywhere. They're legal. Like I can just quickly google. They show up on amazon:

> My goal as a police officer is not to make the most busts, or arrest the most perps. My job is to serve the community, and at all times I strive to be as open-minded, compassionate, and fair as possible.

Intentions are great, but this can't really work out in practice because there's a massive gap of cognitive dissonance between what you DO and what you WANT TO DO.

Even if you want to be open-minded and "fair", you eventually have to go along with your department otherwise you'd be an outcast.

At the end of the day, even if you wanted to be mother Teresa, your job depends on enforcing the law... which as it pertains to drugs essentially translates into babysitting adults.

For example, in the United States:

  • Anyone can gamble their paycheck in Vegas
  • Sign away their entire life by joining the military (often before even 18 years old)
  • Eat fast food and sugar (heart disease & obesity is a leading cause of death)
  • Voluntarily buy and eventually die as a result of cigarettes or alcohol

So, from where I stand, the central question is: Does an individual have the right to put anything into their body for whatever reason they please?

The answer of course (rationally and philosophically) is YES.

Because to imply otherwise is to say that after age 18, you are not an adult.

...and even if you say no, then the above examples are clear indicators of the contradiction.

So, systematically, you and your friends are financially and morally incentivized to punish NON-VIOLENT adults who choose to put a substance inside their body (which is no different than fast food, alcohol, cigarettes etc.) for their own reasons.

Thus, implying that THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO THEIR OWN MIND AND BODY.

In the case of psychedelics: most people's lives are actually HEALED IMMENSELY (with Ayahuasca, various forms of DMT, Psilocybin etc.) yet most of those substances are schedule I along with drugs like heroin.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies are legally peddling heroin (in the form of Oxycontin etc) and getting around the system.

Make no mistake, you are going to be on the WRONG side of history.

While I appreciate your post and ability to be open-minded, after this AMA/post dies down, you'll be on the street "doing your job" because that's what you have to do put food on your table.

"Doing my job" is just a modern-day version of the Nuremberg Defense.

...and the police will inevitably abuse their power as shown in the famous Stanford Prison Experiment because it's not a police thing... it's a human nature thing.

So, the problem lies in the incentives of the police.

Unfortunately, the incentives ARE NOT to be as open-minded, compassionate, and fair as possible - it's to enforce the law without question.

...and to make matters worse, cops generally only hang out with other cops. I have yet to met a cop who has given another cop a ticket for the SAME violation made by a civilian.

I know cops have a slogan that says "TO PROTECT AND SERVE" on their squad cars.

But, as a citizen, I think it would be far more accurate to say "TO INTIMIDATE AND EXTORT" .... because I can't remember the last time I felt "protected or served".

So, as far as solutions, other than walking away from it and making an honest living in the private sector, I don't have a clear-cut solution.

LEAP, however, is an excellent start.
