The MegaWheels S1 may not support your weight very well. I think it has a recommended cut-off weight of about 150lbs.

It's not a bad little scooter if you're just travelling 2-3 miles on smooth roads and if you don't weigh much. It's perfect for someone just wanting to get around campus. Folds quickly and easily. It's going to get loose really quickly around the folding mech/front wheel, but that's normal. It's pretty tough, just don't go off curbs and be very careful of potholes. It has very small wheels. It's not really in the same class of scooter that's a few hundred more, but it might serve your purpose. You're probably only going to get about 7-10mph and about 3-4 miles range. So, take your charger with you.

Xprit makes a somewhat decent scooter for around $265. But, you might want to look for a deal on a Xiaomi m365 or maybe a clone of it.

This is what the Xprit scooter looks like, but this one is the same scooter by a different company. So if you search eBay for Xprit scooter, just look for the one that looks like this (it's the same thing, only without built in speakers).

There's also the Swagtron (but it has issues, read the reviews)...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F45HL7M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1csmDbCF7XMQV

Depending on your needs I think you'd be better off saving your money and getting a scooter that's around $350-$650.

Hey OP. Friendly neighborhood lockpicker here. I pick locks as a hobby and keep up with the security of a lot of the locks that are released. I also recently got a ninebot and therefore wanted a U-lock for it as well. The kryptonite lock you suggested here is actually a good one. I'd avoid the master lock cuffs posted above, master locks are notoriously shit and those cuffs are actually one of the better ones from them, but they're still shit. And I'd never get the last one you posted, I've never even heard of it and you'd likely be paying $20 to get your scooter stolen. As a general rule of thumb, if you care about something, you should care about spending the money for a good lock for it. That being said, here's the lock I decided on for my scooter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZT8KZ1/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_laC3Db2XXBFF7. I'd suggest that one or one of the other similar ones in that line. The kryptonite one you posted is likely still good, but I know that kryptonite used plastic covers over the lock body of some of their bike locks that could be destroyed with a heat gun or blow torch to easily open the lock. The one I suggested is all metal. Good luck with your lock needs.

I figured out how to change the tires pretty easily. You can take the tube out with the tire lever; this is the easy part.

To put the tire back on, first put the valve through the hole. Then, use the clamps and the tire iron (or possibly start with the tire levers) to do the rest. Clamp it as far as you can on each side (1/3rd to 1/2th the tire clamped in place) and keep moving the tire into position with two tools very close to each other starting close to the clamps. When you make some progress, put a new clamp into position. I had to use the tire irons for the last part as it's extremely tight. **You won't be able to go straight for putting the rest of the tire on, you have to do it bit by bit from the clamps.

Looks good! I did something similar with my m365s:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WKM1KGX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Got one in blue and one in yellow so we can tell them apart easier (the yellow one has been crashed more and is a little bit looser in the stem =) )

I use this on a couple of mine. Pull the straps tight enough and you can fit 5-10lbs without too much worry. I just keep basics like cables, tools, and then use it to maybe put a sandwich or something in if I run to grab some lunch.

I like that it is relatively stiff compared to the cloth carriers (not completely hard like plastic), so it stays completely still up to 50mph without flapping around even when empty.

Has anyone been trying one of these? This looks like a feasible option if it is either big enough to fit around the folding mechanism? I think it is quite hefty but might be a good option. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P6VMEC

I'm currently using this..it's nice and strong. Echoing what others said..used for quick in and out situations. Never for over night or hours.

Kryptonite New York Noose 1275 Bicycle Chain Bike Lock with Evolution Series-4 Disc Lock

I personally grabbed an ES2 and then got a used battery kit for $75 from eBay (I mostly care about the torque, not the range; but the battery I got ended up being in good condition)

I use this lock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XZT8KZ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I picked up some nut extractors on Amazon. They come in today. I’ll be sure to report back.

Interested in a M365 for my stepson. I read you can put clear tape on the power button. I would also use silicone caulk to weatherproof the battery tray and electronic speed controller. I would also spray any components with Sea-Doo XP-S Anti-Corrosive Lubricant after getting anything wet.

Then flash your scooter as a m365 pro. It wont be one but it will be faster and have three speed modes and speedometer will work. I can a bit over 18MPH on the flats now in mode 3. The acceleration is way better too.

Most people I've seen using Hafny mirrors. I have a pair of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XWRMZZF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Easy to mount and adjust and they stay in place once fastened.

I bought these:

Yifant Outer Tubes 10 x 2 Pack of... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQ1QMHB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They fit ok and are decent as far as build quality. They are 35 psi, which is the highest I found in that size. Even 35 psi feels too bouncy.

But the reason I took them off my m365 is it isn’t powerful enough, even with modifying the firmware to up the power. I could have been more aggressive with the power modification, but I don’t think it would end up as fast as my m365 with regular tires, running at a lower power.

If you do it, don’t expect it to be a big upgrade in terms of performance.

There aren’t many 156mm tires available in the US but I have seen them on eBay. I have also seen some 10” solid tires with the holes drilled in them on eBay.

They make a tool for that.

I am sure there are some other brands that are cheaper, but Park tools rock. you just need a truing fork from someone. assuming your rotor is not toasted.

Loctite*

....to lock down your bolts. tight. :P

u/theinfamousj · 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

I have this one because (1) it stays where you set it once you crank your bolts down tight, (2) it fits into the end of my handle bars. and (3) my local bicycle shop had it for sale on the rack.
