I swallowed my pride and started reading/listening to self help books. Based on other people's recommendations:

www.amazon.com/dp/0767921968 - funny and made me feel better if just for a few days; somewhat targeted towards women but I found it helpful

www.amazon.com/dp/1478121734 - finished it in less than hour and trying to follow its mantra.. strangely, I think it might be helping. Too early to tell but it's interesting.

I e-borrowed the first one from my library. Maybe possible with the second one too.

you have very painful ruminations and emotions, a normal talk therapist isnt gonna help. you need someone specializing in trauma, abuse, C-PTSD, DBT & CBT. im just gonna say that maybe you havent truly accepted the breakup therefore you need to practice radical acceptance. read this :

after that i will recommend you read the book “calming the emotional storm” by sheri van dijk. another book “whole again” by jackson mackenzie also helped me a lot during my breakup, give it a read as well :

ultimately you need to be working on your self esteem and having unconditional love for yourself. i hope your therapist is helping you on that if not, fire them. here are some more resources that may also help, make sure you read the captions below each pic :

Read "Why Does He Do That?" It will help you gain LOTS of insight on abusive men like your ex, and help you spot the red flags in the future.
