The buzzing on the handlebars landed me comfortably in carpal tunnel territory off the batt, with most of my right hand going numb. Yay for the 2018's hard mounted handle bars! My buddies already had these so I stopped at a random bike shop and grabbed one (was $24.95usd) and it was the best thing ever. Unlike those "cramp busters" that let you release your grip because a flap rests against your palm, these allow you to take your hand completely off the bars while the throttle stays where you set it. I find them at every random bike and atv accessories store. Made all the difference, didn't get in my way at all during twisties, was easy to effortlessly set/release without effort while riding.

I just ran premium, as that's what the manual asks for. US gas is stupidly cheap to start with, so it was substantially cheaper than regular fuel back home, and the MT07's so good on gas anyways. Cost me on average around $7usd/250km, but that was mostly in twistier roads at a good clip; if we did the speed limit I could have extended that range considerably. For how I ride it turned out 250km range worked very well as a guideline.

My shoulders where fine, as you can sit right upright on the MT07 if you wish so there's no strain on them at all.

My ass, on the other hand, was in screaming pain. The seat was simply inadequate for that kind of ride. I find it's good for up to 2 hours at a time. I'd do another ride with this seat if I had to, but I'm hoping to grab... Something, I dunno what yet, to make it better. A seat cover or something.

I brought a toolkit consisting of a Leatherman, a couple crescent wrenches, a set of Allen Keys, a multimeter, some zip ties and some metal wire, a tire pressure gauge with a length of duct tape wrapped around it, and spare universal control cables. I'd say for most people a multimeter is less important, but mine came in handy diagnosing and fixing (bypassing, rather) a friend's gimpy clutch/neutral switch.

Also packed: socks and underwear per day, a pair of spare t-shirts and a pair of pants packed into ziplock freezer bags with the air squeezed out (way more compact than just rolling clothes, AND guaranteed to stay dry), a sweater and an undershirt (layering yo! Adjust to the temperatures), a couple microfiber rags and lens cleaner for my face shield, some Tylenol, a small first aid kit (thankfully unneeded), toothpaste/toothbrush/floss/antiperspirant.

The tail bag is a Nelson Rigg CL 1060S which was phenomenal and looked really nice on the bike, and a cheap cargo net strapped over top for carrying loose stuff (removed layers of clothes, bottles of water, bag of Cheetos, etc) that I wanted fast access to.

Also had a RAM mount off the left mirror stem with a wired in charger so my phone stayed at 100% while rocking Google Maps (downloaded maps, so worked offline) and music to my Sena headset. That charger would fast-charge my phone if the bike was running, or just slow charge otherwise. Having GPS going all the time really relieved some anxiety as I could stop and take photos without worrying about losing the group. Location sharing is super helpful too once your in town; can split up and find each other again effortlessly.

God I hope this formats correctly - I am a neophyte.

Exhaust -

Super deep and loud sound - videos online don't do it justice, its unbelievably loud when the baffles are out. Had to have the cat cut out of it. Be aware they have a cat in the V section before the end of the pipe.

Removed the snorkel covering the airbox - I was told its basically blocks airflow.

ECU Flash / Dyno by 2wheelDynoWorks -

Nels himself worked on my bike - super stoked (shout out to Nate too) They have the best customer service.

Active Tune -

Tune as you go

Bike side harness -

For tuning later

Windscreen -

I got light smoke, I think it goes better with the bike and pushes wind over my shoulders even at 80+ mph

Protection -

Basically got everything from this except the bar ends

Bar Ends -

Super easy to replace mirrors etc with these - and they add protection

Throttle tube -

90 to 60 degree conversion - its amazing for the price

Dash Screen Protector -

Mirror stem deletes -

Current Mirrors -

Mirrors in photo -

I like the CRG Mirrors but they get bumped and are hard to readjust - the cheap ebay/amazon mirrors work great

Headlight replacement -

Signal replacement LED bulbs -

Super bright replacements for stock bulbs - used the original housings, they plug right in

Running light LED replacements -

For inside the headlight housing

Tail Tidy -

Flasher Relay for LEDs -

Levers -

Passenger peg deletes -

I removed the passenger pegs, needed a bracket to hold the brake fluid reservoir - also cleaned up the pegs

Havent done the brakes yet - going to replace the lines etc with steel braid.

Also want to do a sprocket / chain swap for acceleration

I used a quadlock phone mount for a little bit - but took it off because I was playing with my phone too much.

Hey y'all! Some of you asked about mods so here is a full list of what I have done so far with links.

Radiator guard - Has a nice little FZ-07 etched at the bottom.

Shorty levers - Mine are gray but they come in lots of colors.

Bar end mirrors - You can find these for less but I chose these because the reviews indicated that they might be better quality than others.

Yoshimura fender eliminator - Kinda pricey for what it is but it looks really nice.

Motodynamic integrated tail light - I also looked at the TST but after looking at some videos decided on this one.

Proton 500 flush mount LED - These things are brighter than the sun. You can also change the signal pattern which I thought was cool.

Flasher relay - Prevents hyper flash and let me get rid of resistors.

Stompgrip volcano black - I really like these and they have great grip. You can also get them in clear from their website if that's your thing.

Akrapovic TI - This exhaust sounds sweet, I also purchased the CAT for it through cyclegear.

Other mods that i'm considering in the future
Stainless Steel braided brake lines, FTECU on the bike flash kit, T-Rex Racing no cut combo.

Bonus -

Got the headlight H4 LED from Cyclops. Looks like they're out of stock right now:

It was super easy to install and fit very well.

For the parking lights I got these:

u/mclovinlovin · 1 pointr/FZ07

I went through a bunch of old ball bearings i had floating around and found one that fit lol.

The exhaust is by Delkevic.

And the levers are these,

Nothing too special, but they look good and feel great.

That’s what I used according to my amazon purchase history. I swapped mine when I installed oxford heated grips nearly a year ago and honestly, I usually don’t even remember I swapped it lol. But you will notice right away at first.

If you are careful you can save the stock grip using compressed air and lightly prying under it with a flathead screw driver or something similar.

u/MapleBurup · 1 pointr/FZ07

Went with the simple TST industries, not to sure if i'll like the only top bolt mounts but we will see.

Also did the MD integrated tail light and i love that.

u/MundaneCrysis · 2 pointsr/FZ07

It's this one from Amazon:

It works well but the one they sent me, the two base plate screws didn't line up, so I was only able to screw it in with two of the four screws. So far it's holding great though!

Also, make sure you keep your left and right signals separate if you use the stock signals, otherwise you will end up putting them on the opposite side like me.

u/harugane · 1 pointr/FZ07

I have the similar mirrors in the link you provided. I bought these. They will fit the same way as the video above with stock bar ends and some modification or with the mount they provide with stock bars (some modification maybe).

The way they fit is how all the bar end mounts work and that is the rubber piece needs the be tighten before inserting it into the bar. Once its snug you can tighten further for a better fit. I ended up getting Woodcraft clip ons and bought the bar ends with guard mounts to mount my mirrors.

I can't recommend the R6 throttle tube mod enough. I did the mod last weekend and have been riding for a few days with it in place and it is glorious. The best $9 I've ever spent.

This guy walks through the install step by step

u/iTzinmyblood · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I installed an LED headlight. It added a lot more visibility at night. Took 10 minutes or less to do.

Also added white LED run lights so the entire front is bright white

I watched these two videos for any help.

Unless your commutes consist of you pinning the throttle and soaring through neighborhoods / highways at speeds of 100MPH, I'm sure you'll find yourself enjoying the FZ07.

If your commutes do consist of that kind of riding, I would recommend getting a wind screen and replacing the throttle tube with this. That way your arm isn't underneath the fucking bar when wide open.

Edit: note: the tube on Amazon will say it is incompatible with the FZ07, ignore that.

u/LoadInTheComode · 2 pointsr/FZ07 heres the link. I have them as well. Not sure if I'd recommend though unless you get other adaptors. They look nice though.

u/deadjennies_0o · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I have a 2016 and when I first got it home I had a real issue with lurching and choppy throttle response. I did a little reading and found out it was pretty common and that most people fixed it by changing the throttle tube.
Amazon says I bought this, although the description and price are a little different now than when I bought it.

Swapping the throttle tube was night and day. The bike responds like it should when you twist the throttle and there is no longer a choppy feeling when I shift.

u/redempire36 · 1 pointr/FZ07

Arrows are a waste of money honestly. Imitation ones from Amazon work well and fit.

Was able to use even with bar end slider because they give a long bolts I just had to trim.

u/Vaganhope_UAE · 7 pointsr/FZ07

I got these and assembly is super strong, it's not moving anywhere. and it's only 16$

I had to replace CRG ARROW because my idiot boss broke them on purpose. Ripped it off with his hand.

u/Arctic_Yeti · 1 pointr/FZ07

I actually just watched the oil change video from Jake TheGardenSnake where he links the crush washers he used for his 2016 FZ07. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you may not have gotten the LED compatible relay. It's like $8, I'll grab a link

Edit: - $8.99 shipped with Prime. You have to go under your front "tank" fairing on the left to replace the OEM, but it's just a matter of undoing a bunch of small fairing bolts and a couple plastic panel poppers.

u/AFlockofTurtles · 1 pointr/FZ07

I've bought the below ones for the other motorcycle. They worked great but for the fz07 I bumped up to the arrow.

KAWELL Rear View Side Mirror Round Bar End Convex

u/fuzzmedic · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I’ve got the vagabond tail tidy and I like it. I reused the factory turn signals and it was a simple install

u/Sirens_go_wee_woo · 2 pointsr/FZ07

As long as they’re the 7/8s bars yes. They bolt right on but be prepared to cut them down a little.
Pro Taper Seven Eighths Handlebars - Standard 7/8 (Carmichael) (Black)

u/xCaldazar · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I grabbed this one. No fan, which was a must for me. I hate that wine the small fans make. It is going strong for 5 months now (I know that's not a very long time, but all I can speak to). That's riding through rain, and 90+ F. It is a 2 pack.

BEAMTECH H4 LED Headlight Bulb, 50W 6500K 8000Lumens Extremely Brigh (9003 Hi/Lo) CSP Chips Conversion Kit

u/nickyvee · 2 pointsr/FZ07

Buy one of these or swap for an R6 throttle tube.... Or both...

u/Nie9001 · 1 pointr/FZ07

Ah, I know this is a late reply but I just bought This one From amazon. It is a swing arm stand, so if you don't want to buy the spools for the other stands this is a great solution which is not expensive. I currently have my back wheel up no problems. Takes about 5 minutes to put together with basic tools!

u/pagadqs · 1 pointr/FZ07

I dunno man, there are a shit ton of factors. I live in Florida, 2 hours from Miami on I75, 3 hours on US41... I headed to Miami once , fully geared , and an hour and a half in I turned around. It was miserable as fuck . It was too hot. And your ass starts aching . And for a long trip , most certainly get one of these - Cramp Buster Cruise Assist Standard Long Size Black , cause your hands get tired...I dunno . I don't have long experience o motorcycles , this is my first one and I only have ~3500 miles on it, but this was not a great experience. In town though it's awesome.

u/Codytheclam · 4 pointsr/FZ07

I may borrow my buddy's puig touring, and I just bought a tail bag! Got this one Nelson Rigg CL-1060-S Sport Motorcycle Tail/Seat Bag

I hate riding with a backpack

u/Truextacy · 2 pointsr/FZ07

I bought these ones from Amazon, they are cheaper but I have had no problems with them at all.

u/Donny-Thornberry · 2 pointsr/FZ07
