That power brick is only a transformer, it's not like a desktop computer's power supply with large capacitors in them. You won't be flooding the famicom with two months of stored up power. If you're concerned the AC adapter has been damaged in the last 2 months you could check the output voltage with a multimeter.

I currently use a step down convertor from amazon and havn't had any issues with it. Although I try to unplug the step down convertor itself when not in use.

I've been considering the RetroDC though as a replacement. It's a switching power supply so when not in use it should use less electricity and stay cool.
