Thank you! If you like you can follow me on Instagram, I'm uploading my sketches there too - https://www.instagram.com/aya_kun/

I'm using this sketchbook for daily sketches - https://www.amazon.com/One-Sketch-Day-Visual-Journal/dp/0811875342
At first it was easier, I had some ideas or drew something that happened that day, or fanart or when I'm lazy I just did studies from photos for practice. It was more time consuming also, but now it takes less time as I gained momentum I guess ) I would definitely recommend it - It makes you think and practice everyday, just have fun and don't stress over it, it's just for you, not for an art gallery =) Also keep in mind - you have all day to think about what you want to draw and spent just 30 minutes on a drawing itself, so it's not so time-consuming. I really hope that makes sense, hehe.

About Deviantart, I'm mostly using it for my "finished" drawings, you can check them out here - http://google-moogle.deviantart.com/
But for sketches I'm using Tumblr and Instagram, I hope that helps! )

If you wanted to opt for something extra to go with the lightning deck, I'd suggest the Ultimania Archive books (English translated Volume 2 releases in December). They have tons of behind the scenes info about the games in each volume (Vol. 1 covers games I-VI, Vol. 2 will cover VII-IX, and when Vol. 3 releases next year... X-XIV) a lot of the artwork done by Yoshitaka Amano, concept sketches, maps of the world. For under $20, it's a really great coffee table book to flip through and take a look at all the work that goes into each game.

Or maybe a Lightning plush to go with the deck. lol

If your friend is a little more into Final Fantasy than just XIII though, definitely either one of the Ultimania Archive books or one of Amano's artbooks like "The Sky" or "Illustrations". Best of luck to you!

I got a couple more. Dune is awesome. It's really difficult to describe this book, since a lot of it is told from a third-person perspective wherein the reader gets the thoughts and all the micro-details of different characters' feelings and observations. It's not your usual novel. There is a film version directed by David Lynch from 1984 that completely sucks.

On the topic of Dune, Alejandro Jodorowsky, whom I respect on some levels and really hate on others (his sexism is particularly bothersome), was going to make a film adaptation of Dune but it was shut down before it reached production. There is a great documentary on that project, one of the most inspiring documentaries I've seen. Jodorowsky also made some really experimental movies back in the 70s, including The Holy Mountain. Trailer here. Warning: this movie will probably offend you in some way or another. NSFW. There is nudity, there is death, there are questionable filmmaking practices, and there's a turd that gets turned into gold. Movie here.

Then there's this Japanese Star Wars ripoff from the 70s called Message From Space that reminds me of Final Fantasy 1 in some ways. Instead of warriors of light carrying crystals, it's a bunch of space jockeys with glowing walnuts. It's entertaining to watch, and quite ambitious for what it is. Is it a good movie? Well, like I said, it's entertaining.

I do have a copy of Final Fantasy XIV: The Complete Collection that I haven't touched yet. As soon as I heard of the free trial, playing it just wasn't a priority. That and I had to take care of other things.

I know it seems like a waste, but I'm definitely going to consider finding time to play Final Fantasy XIV. Y'shtola's waiting. I just hope I can get to it before the next expansion lol

> How would one deal with other expansions? Wouldn't I just have to continue to get the Complete editions (or I'd probably would just have to buy the expansions separately).

You would buy Stormblood separately, which has both expansions'. I think The Complete Edition is the best bang for your buck though, so I recommend it.

Make sure not to buy used. Once the activation key is used, it's attached to that person's account forever.

EDIT: Actually, you can get them separately for the same price as, or cheaper than, the Complete Edition. Here are the options.

Option 1: The Complete Edition The Complete Edition is more convenient because you have everything in one package. However, buying them separately means you can spread out your purchases because the expansion's content isn't accessible until after A Realm Reborn's content anyway, or you can wait until the expansion goes on sale.

Option 2: A Realm Reborn Digital Code + Stormblood Physical Copy This is the cheapest option and, after thinking about it, the one I recommend. While playing A Realm Reborn you wait for the expansion to ship, and it costs less than the complete edition.

Option 3: A Realm Reborn Digital Code + Stormblood Digital Copy This one is all digital, and the same price of the complete edition. You don't have to deal with physical copies of anything, and you can install it all as soon as you buy it instead of waiting for shipping.

Sorry for the blunder there. :-/ Hope I'm being helpful. :P

The Sky art books on Amazon. They are a collection of concept art by Yoshitaka Imano from the first 10 games. I own this collection and it is really quite spectacular. Hyrule Historia is also a good gift, as it covers all Zelda games from inception through Skyward Sword. Not as much of an art book as it is a general retelling of the franchise and an order of events for the games.

If you husband is somewhat of an audiophile, I would suggest Distant Worlds 1 & 2

This should cover you for whatever birthdays/christmas/anniversaries for like a year.

Links to products, to the best of my knowledge:
Vivi, Moogle, Tonberry, and Cactuar!

As far as I can tell, that's the Banpresto Vivi plush you could only get from coin machines in Japan. :0 Awesome collection!

To be honest, I really don't remember. It could have been Square's store, but back then I'm sure that would have been too pricey for me, unless they had a cheaper version, usually their jewelry is expensive. This one on amazon looks pretty similar, with the rounded edges, and the heavy chain, but I'm not sure if it's the same size. The description makes it seem smaller than what is shown in that image.

Here's the Piggyback FF8 strategy guide.

Also, the Brady Games guide can be found here.

EDIT: Assuming you're in the UK, of course. I'm sure that Amazon.com will have them, though.

EDIT x2: Yep, and they're cheaper than .co.uk!

I don't know where to buy it internationally but the pencil pot is available in the UK at a couple of retailers. I didn't get it from Amazon but it's there: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MUSTARD-Cactus-Desktop-Organizer-Magnetic/dp/B01LXMMH3E Then just draw the eyes on in pencil first to make sure you get the position right and follow up with marker pen.

Edit: specified where in the world it was bought

Awesome! Here's the link for those; Who don't feel like going through the twitter post.

u/shabroky · 3 pointsr/FinalFantasy

I'm just glad this wasn't a discussion related to that Final Fantasy and Philosophy book.

Avoid anything coming from China, besides probably being a bootleg, who knows if it would be child safe.

Here's what should be the reproduction of the moogle in Advent Children:
http://www.amazon.com/Square-Enix-Fantasy-Moogle-Stuffed/dp/B002QXOJ74/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334940821&sr=8-2

There is a smaller "key chain" plush as well.

Well, on Japanese-Amazon, reviews for FFXV are very negative, compared to reviews for FFXIII on Japanese-Amazon.

u/Schwahn · 1 pointr/FinalFantasy

I found this

It is the complete version, so it has all the extra scenes and stuff in it.

u/Das_Wood · 1 pointr/FinalFantasy

I bought this book at an anime convention earlier this year. I'm really tempted to use the book sleeve as a poster on my wall it's all so beautiful.

u/TriumphantBass · 1 pointr/FinalFantasy

If you have a PS3, the disc version of Origins (I and II) still works, and is only $10 new. www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-Origins-Remastered-Editions-PlayStation/dp/B00008RUYZ/

If you have a PSP/Vita, you can buy it on PSN or UMD.

You might want to check this book

Also this Spira timeline for when you finish FFX

There was a comment around here some time ago about how different FFVII is because some things were lost in translation.

Congratz on beating FFIX! It's my personal favourite.

EDIT: Mirate tambien este thread, interesante

u/Blueowl789 · 7 pointsr/FinalFantasy

If they put real world advertising in another game, Squenix is fucking dead to me.

That was seriously the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a game before.

Edit: read this book
