I also used a template that was bundled with the Beetle Supcase Tempered glass to make it easy.

When applying the LOCA put in the center of the phone a capatlized "i". Octopus LOCA includes a mL measurement and you should put near 5mL. It will get messy. That's the advantage of the WhiteStone Dome as they give you a lower viscosity with the right measurement needed.

Make sure you put tape in all coverings. People will say painters tape, but I use Shipping tape with good adhesive. My first try, painters tape lifted and I got glue over my speaker. If this happens, make sure you put the phone in the UV light. It's easier to remove dried than piece by piece. But if you put good adhesive tape this will not happen.

If you only need a simple, thin case without a lot of bells and whistles, I highly recommend the Samsung official clear case. I tried a few different cases, and they were all too much, too bulky, until I just bought the Samsung one. It's pretty great. Feels as close to no case on a phone as I've ever felt. And for only $10 US, not a bad price at all.

Just, ya know, my two cents' worth.

Edit: As for OneNote, I use it for work on this phone, and it's pretty great. I don't have a lot of experience with these phones (this is my first Samsung, first Note, and I've only had it about a month), but I have used a few of the OneNote-specific features (like sharing easily within OneDrive and SharePoint), and it's what my boss uses, so it's handy.

That said, I do all my personal note taking in Samsung Notes. It's already there, it works well, and it's low-hassle to work on/in.

I have the Zagg Glass Elite (the new full adhesive one) and the Samsung Rugged case

I love both of them. The screen protector installed perfectly with no air bubbles and I've had no sensitivity issues. The case doesn't touch the protector, so it's not causing the protector to peel. The rugged case has a textured grip on the back which feels good in the hand. It also has a kickstand, which makes it useful when watching videos.

u/terekkincaid · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I've used Encased cases (a relatively new brand) and not had any problems with wireless charging: Galaxy Note 8 Belt Clip Case, Encased Slim Fit Holster Shell Combo (w/ Rubberized Grip Finish) Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074TTHD8B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_G0vPzbC3S2KQY

I like holsters, so it's perfect for me. But it's a good slim case and pretty cheap even if you throw the holster away.

u/asdjfweaiv · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I like slim cases. These are the two that I have used and liked:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073RW983G

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074H19TPD

I'm currently using the Spigen because I like the little magnetic kickstand, although I generally prefer and use Ringke cases because they have better buttons. I've dropped mine twice (!) onto asphalt so far, not a scratch or ding on the phone either time.

u/elgimperino · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I went from a Nexus 5x to the Note and am loving the change. I recommend the Tech21 Evo Check. It's not too big and is rubber so it really helps maneuver such a big phone.

u/mini4x · 7 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I get it, you pay good money for a nice looking device and cover it up so it can't be seen.

I use a Spigen clear, like this, you can still see the phone and had some protection.

u/illithidbane · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I ran my S4 for almost 4 years. Banged up a bit, dropped a few times, scuffed around the edges, but the screen was pristine and perfect without any case or protector.

I have had my Note 8 since September. Minor scratches on the screen already despite being more careful and never dropping it. It wears a case that makes it thicker than my old S4.

I wanted more screen space. I wasn't aware just how much thicker/bulkier it was going to be to make it last. And now I need a new car mount because even though it's onl 5mm wider, with a case it won't fit anymore.

Why make it "pretty" when that just requires a bulky case covering it anyway? Why not just make the back plastic/rubber if the case will cover the back with plastic/rubber anyway?

I want a Note 8 Active, I think.

u/Jonlife · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

It all depends on your preference. I used this same case for my LG v20 and love it. Still makes the phone feel sleek while providing amazing protection. Highly recommended

u/Mr_sippi · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Do it. Its perfect. The battery is more than enough. Took mine off the charger yesterday @ 5:10 a.m. and was on data for 11 hours and when I got home I had 43% left before getting on wifi. I got about 5 hours 45 min. Out of the first full charge. My case came yesterday, it is the Spigen ultra hybrid etc. Lol.. but this case is perfect to me, matte black around the edges (rubberized) and clear on the back.. doesn't add any bulk and has plenty of protection IMO

From all the cases I've tested, i can say that the wet screen protectors are the best. tempered glass the edges aren't as responsive. the regular dry protectors don't really stick to the edges. I got an S8 for my mom and i used an armor suit wet screen protector. it was easy to install. I installed it in my first try and is still holding up on the edges with no issues. you need to install it properly of course. After installing the flat surface, you gotta use a hair dryer (hot air) to have it stick around the edges. The only downside i found is that even with the HD version, the screen protector kind degrades the clear screen resolution from the amazing screen, but not by much. So i will be trying IQshield wet screen protector, since its one of the best, if not the best screen protector manufacturers out there. heres a link https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Friendly-LiQuidSkin-Coverage-Anti-Bubble/dp/B072W8X2SK/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1504099854&sr=1-1&keywords=note+8+screen+protector&refinements=p_89%3AIQShield

I got this case from Spigen and really like it. It honestly looks like it's part of the phone.

u/Mrbrooks418 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I always use this one. For my S7edge, Note 7 and now Note 8. Love it. I also put the dbrand black dragon skin on my phone too. Looks great through the case and notice less scratches that happen over time and finger prints on the back of the case vs not having the skin and it being very reflective.

Mines pretty grey as well. After living with it, I now wish I'd gotten the black, or better yet the deepsea blue.

If you're looking to make it more purple, you can put [this] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074G8TPY3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on it. I just got it. Pretty dang thin and slick, not much drop protection, but it does give a dose of purple. If that's what you're after, this nails it.

u/ryanispomp · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Picked up this guy and I'm pretty happy with it. Super slim but still feels solid.

This is the case I ordered for me. I had a holster for my Sony Xperia Z3 and honestly missed using one again. Plus, the idea of digging a 6.3" phone out of my pocket, yeah no thanks. Lol.

u/adbdragonmaster1 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I use this thing and it works for Samsung dex just fine!

Currently using this Spigen case, which has been great. Dropped my phone already and it didn't have any issues.

u/BooTeeBandit · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Right now I have 3 different cases (I like to change cases a lot):

Galaxy Note 8 Case, Caseology [Parallax Series] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074NVQQ6W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_Eljk4hEFHKiJi

Galaxy Note 8 Case, Caseology [Vault Series] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074NRQ7WX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_Wj8MrSvUfWzlh

Speck Presidio (they have more muted colors if you check out the regular Presidio on their site, I know glitter isn't for everyone 😊)
http://www.speckproducts.com/samsung/smartphone-cases/samsung-galaxy-note8-cases/presidio-clear-glitter-samsung-galaxy-note8-cases/GN8-PR-CLR-GLT.html#start=2

In case you're interested in buying any of those, here's some deal info:

I believe caseology is still running a 30% off promo on their cases. The code is in the details of the Amazon page but if I recall correctly it's "BUYNOTE8".

I googled a code for speck and actually found one for 20% off that worked when I ordered the presidio on Friday. The code I used was "SAVE10"

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EF-RN950CNEGUS-Military-Protective-Kickstand/dp/B074G917W5/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1526940009&sr=8-3&keywords=note+8+rugged+case

I have that case in black and blue and use them daily, it has a built in kick stand that isn't noticeable when not being used, that's why I like those cases. Plus it works with my wireless charger.

I prefer the Otterbox commuter for the quad lock adapter because its a lot more secure, you first put a synthetic rubber slipcover, then a hard shell over it. Plus the adhesive that comes with the quad lock adapter makes it really firm, so I am not worried at all about my phone becoming loose if I'm biking really fast.

u/Colesphagus · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Definitely the IQ Shield on Amazon. Smooth, and not too shiny. Easy to install and fits like a glove. My only issue with it is that it's a "soft" screen protector, so if you dig something into it (with a lot of pressure or sharp object) then it kind of smudges the protector. But when that happens it's hardly noticeable. It's even sold on Amazon.

u/fxsoap · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I've had this spigen and it has protected against 30+ drops

u/Jluna47 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I'm currently using the official Samsung clear cover, it is very slim and keeps the intended design. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note8-Protective-Orchid/dp/B074G917W3?th=1

u/HisDivineShadow_12 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I chose this case after watching "JimmyisPromo" drop a note 8 about 30 times without a scratch. It is thin, compact, and the barrier around it makes holding the phone a hundred times easier. It also has a raised lip which protects the screen:

Using a Lumion Guardian Case by VRS Design: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074T5QBHC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nice slim case with hard bumper on the sides. Fits a full screen tempered glass screen protector. I'm 5'7" dropped my phone onto floor tiles as I was pulling it out of my pocket. Phone landed flat on its screen. No damage to both phone and screen protector. Also dropped from chest height and landed on its corner side. Phone survived flawlessly. Toddler got my phone from my bedside table and dropped it on the corner of the bedside table. Left a mark on my case not on my phone.

u/2DLogic · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Slim and aesthetically fitting are probably more important than they should be to me when going for a case.

I just bought both of these. Both are nice, but I think I prefer the hard case even though it is slightly thicker.

I like the cases that have portrait stand. When I sit at a table I can stand it upright and surf while I eat, I can also lay it down landscape for videos but usually I am checking out reddit at lunch

I got a Spigen Rugged Crystal on the way from Amazon. I may get a Rugged Armor as well, after I see how it looks and feels with the Crystal.

I never use screen protectors because I hate how they feel, but if you're concerned for screen scratches you should probably get one.

My experience is that most slim cases work fine with wireless charging.

u/NeoGe · 5 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Mines from mobile.co.uk coming via DPD.
Last update was that it was at DPD depot.
I have the Spigen® [Tough Armor] case hopefully arriving today as well.

Edit: 9.32am Just received my phone :-), shame I'm at work so can't play with it much

u/bhull302 · 7 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Was about to order one of those 2 days ago, noticed on Amazon a new version was available for pre-order.

Official release date is tomorrow. Status is preparing for shipment. Looking forward to trying it out.

u/jonsonsama · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I'll take a picture of mine when I get home, but this is the one I have for both my desk and bedside. I've bought the used ones and one of them doesn't have a working fan, but it doesn't get hot enough for me to notice. The other is fine.

I'm interested in how the UAG compares to the official Samsung Rugged Protective Case. I'm starting with the S-View case but thinking about getting one of the heavier duty ones if the folio form factor makes taking photos too annoying.

u/johnwayne2413 · 5 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I plan to DIY my own Whitestone Dome glass protector. I'm waiting until I can find a TGSP that:

  • Doesn't have the black strips on the top and bottom
  • Does have the full sensor/camera/speaker area cut out...less likely to get glue on it
  • Doesn't have glass extending all the way to the edge of the screen
  • Doesn't have the ugly dot matrix "sensitivity pixel grid" pattern bullshit
  • I plan to simply peel off the thin strip of adhesive on the edge

This is the glue I'm going to use, it should be enough for 5 tgsp installs:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IOPYLJE/

This is the IR curing light I'm going to use:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008133KB4/

    I'm going to end up doing this for 4 devices, 2 x GS8 and 2x GN8. Total cost ~$40 or $10 each.
