Second one is way too thick on the edges. My wife has the first one on her iPhone 6S and it's a great case. Buttons are free floating and nice and clicky. Does scratch/scuff really easy though, just FYI. Might want to replace it every 6 months like she does because it just looks dirty and ruins the clarity after enough regular use. You'll see.

I've ordered 3 Spigen cases so far:

[Spigen Liquid Crystal Galaxy S8 Plus Case] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP4QY2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_l1Esrmt4SeapO)

[Spigen Thin Fit Galaxy S8 Plus Case with SF Coated Non Slip Matte Surface - Black] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP4LGHJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_yqDyxiHODk9R9)

[Spigen Air Skin Galaxy S8 Plus Case - Black] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP5JSRL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oky.ybYW997M0)

I've only had the chance to try the first two, and the Liquid Crystal case sucks. The buttons aren't separate from the rubberish case and they're mushy. I won't deal with mushy buttons.

Ordered the Thin Fit instead and it's better but the material is a cheap hard plastic that reminds me of lower quality android phones or the older S2/S3 models. There are also breaks in the corners so you can snap it in because the plastic is so hard, and it kinda ruins the rounded, flowing aesthetic. The hard plastic cutouts on the bottom for ports and such cut into my fingers when the phone rests on it and that sucks. The areas for buttons are cut out completely which is really nice, since I like direct access to buttons. Definitely better than the Crystal, still not great at all.

The third gets here tomorrow and I'll review it when it does. It still has cutouts for the buttons which I like but they are smaller, which means more protection which I also like. The material also has no corner breaks and it's very thin while also tinted black and partially transparent, so hopefully some of the shine and aesthetics come through. The best part about it for me that I think I'll like the most is that the entire bottom is cut out, so I can rest my phone more comfortably on my fingers. I know it's almost practically just a skin on the back since it's so thin, but it has adequate corner protection and I take good care of my phones. Main goal is to avoid scratches and the occasional light fall.

If the last one doesn't work out I'll just get a transparent Neo Hybrid (first one you linked, not OP's). I at least know the quality of that case. I just wanted something a bit thinner this time around. Oh well.

I have the iBlason one (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-i-Blason-Full-body-Protector-Release/dp/B072BX6R1L/)

While it seems like it has some good drop protection, I don't recommend it because whether or not touch sensitivity is affected by the screen protector seems to be a random draw. I can feel an air gap between the screen protector and my display on the top right portion of my screen, and sometimes that portion won't detect touch because of this gap, unless I press harder than normal.

It's difficult to get the phone out of the case, but I guess this is a trade-off with this style of protective cases. Also, the clear part of my back cover had some small scratches and small white paint/dirt like stuff that doesn't go when rubbed by a microfiber. Can't really return it or anything because I bought it though a company that imports products through online sellers (difficult to personally get down items to my country)

But these seem to be the rare few cases with screen protectors for the S8s though, so I don't really have a choice but to keep it.. hopefully it'll protect my phone from damage sometime. The corners jutting out a bit helps when taking the phone out of my pocket because I can hold onto the jutting corners. It also has pretty big front lips so keeps the screen well lifted from the surface is left face down. Personally though not sure how protective it'll be, the rubbery part is pretty stiff and I think the plastic front part which the phone is placed in might not absorb much of the force from drops..

Alright, everyone keeps telling you to be careful, which I guess you already know, i'm going to give you the benefit of a doubt and say that maybe you cracked it once by accident, it happens, and the second time was because your phone screen was already weak from being replaced... I'll say it's no fault except bad luck. Shit happens.

My recommendation is just bite the bullet on spending a little more than you want to for phone protection, it will save so you much money in the long run. Screens are $200 - $300 dollars to replace, when you can just spend $75 now and protect it. So here's what i think will help.

  • Get a case
  • The one that is most reccomended after me spending DAYS going through threads and looking for solid cases is the Spigen Neo Hybrid ($13.99). Slim case with actual protection.

  • Get a screen protector
  • Also through my research is that the TG (Tempered Glass) protectors are all awful except for the Whitestone Dome ($44.99). Is a hard pill to swallow but it's the only glass that fits well, no reduction in sensitivity, and has full screen adhesive to keep from having those ugly rings around the edge of your screen or having those black bars. I reccommend this because you seem to crack your phone, rather than scratch it, this may save your screen a ton.

  • If you reeeallyy don't want to swallow the $50 then most people just go with a wet applied film to just help from scratches and possibly a minor crack. Most people settle for the IQ Shield LIQuid Skin ($7.85). It's just a skin but it may save you in the end.

  • Get a stand
  • It will keep your phone more secure on your desk rather than having to deal with knocking it off when reaching for your glasses. Any cheap stand can work. I went with the Econstyle Stand ($7.99) because it's easy to move from my side table by my bed, to my desk by my compute. Just some extra security and ca keep your phone from getting any scratches from laying it face first on a hard surface.

  • If you want to get a little luxury you could always get Samsungs Fast Charging Wireless Charger ($39.99) which has a stand included so you just set your phone down and it's charging, but that's just extra luxuries and isn't necessary.

So you could spend a bit for some extra security that will save you time in the long run, or you can keep risking dropping your phone and breaking it. I bit the bullet and got the case, TG and stand and I haven't looked back. I actually dropped my phone first few days after having it, but thanks to my TG the damage was only there and it saved my screen completely.

Yes you should. I have found that glass screen protectors are not the way to go anymore. Instead I went with the Skinomi film protector. this protector is thicker than your average film protector. It's a wet apply and it's very easy to place. Honestly it's probably one of the best screen protectors I've ever had. It's definitely worth a try, it comes with two in a pack and it's not expensive at all. I will link it below:

this one , "Spigen Liquid Crystal"

VERY nice case, perfect mixture between drop safety and thinness

the only issue with it , like always with clear cases , is that its very prone to fingerprints.

by the way, is it just me or doesn't orchid grey look anywhere like on samsungs website ? its more like a dark grey, almost graphite like.

u/Jayde9997 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

The s8+ feels great in the hand, especially coming from a Note 3. I would say I'm on the smaller side for how big a male hand is, but it's much easier to grip around the phone, even with a case on. I'm currently using this case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS66SFG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and even with it on, it's still significantly thinner than the Note 3. And I don't have to worry about the metal edges getting damaged. I'm careful where I put the screen though. Also, with the case, it makes finding the finger print easier.

While it is a fair amount taller, I actually prefer it. The screen is gorgeous and makes up for the height. I watched a review recently where they said the regular s8, with it's curved edges, gives little amount of flat screen real estate, compared to the plus. Because of this, you're seeing a lot more glare on the screen. I can see where they are coming from, but to each their own.

u/corypwrs · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I will always recommend Skinomi. I've been using them for almost 5 years now as I've had 4 different phones in that time period. They make amazing screen protectors that "self-heal." It takes a little getting used to the texture sometimes but these new ones they've made feel pretty smooth to me. Just make sure you get the Case Friendly version if you are using a case.

Yeah i made the switch a few days ago, from a 6S+, i couldnt upgrade to a 7+ cause it was essentially the same phone with some minor tweaks. Bought the Regular S8 and am absolutely fucking blown away by every aspect of the phone. I did not opt out for the S8+ due to my hands being small and not being able to reach the sensor, although i dont use it much anyway, i usually click the home button and use a pattern anyway. But this phone is amazing. Also for those who are looking for a slim case that still makes your phone look amazing check this out! https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugged-Resilient-Absorption-Samsung/dp/B06XNNJ4KM

Also another tip for those about to get an S8, make sure you get a "Case Friendly" screen protector, i got ghost armor and the case peeled it right off, so had to opt out for a different screen protector.

u/shypl · 0 pointsr/GalaxyS8

You just gotta hunt for the deals. Plus your prices are in Canada. I wouldn't call them the same case just because they're both clear. The clear symmetry will be using similar materials to the colored versions and the sides are more receded for easy use of screen protectors. I'm not saying either is better but I wouldn't link you a $5 clear case and say it's "literally the same". There will always be differences. The clear Symmetry for the S8 in the US is only $19 on Amazon ($24 CA) and the clear Spigen for the S8 in the US is $12 on Amazon ($15 CA)

u/mattcalt · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Update: I put my case on it (this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS66SFG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

It worked perfectly. It didn't mess with the protector. The protector doesn't go all the way to the egde, it is maybe a millimeter short. Therefore, there is the smallest gap between the case and the protector. I'm super pleased.

u/thecrunked · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

i use this: https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder-Cradle-Samsung-Smartphones/dp/B017HME9DC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498960445&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+vent+mount

its the best mount i have ever used. its a vent mount but they make a cd mount as well that is apparently equally as good. there are 2 things that make it better than any other product on the market.
1: the vent clip is super tight, it will not fall off like so many other ones
2: the mechanism that locks your phone is a button that presses as you put your phone in the mount, you don't have to fiddle around with anything to lock it in place, you just put it in the mount and done. afaik they have a patent on this so every other mount of this type has you squeezing it together or some other time wasting nonsense.
i used to use magnetic mounts but i didn't want to risk the wireless charging malfunctioning cause of the disk & the 3 or so mounts i have used like that usually seem to fall off of the vent once and a while.

also, protip for vent mount users. put your vent mount in the closest passenger side mount and turn the vent off (at least in the winter) to avoid blasting your phone with hot air

Samsung Galaxy S8 Clear Protective Cover, Black

To be honest though, I switched from a clear case to a black dbrand skin - looks much better, not so sure about functionality, might go back to a case soon.

u/guitarboarder28 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

For glass and overall the Whitestone.

For film I have this one and it's great and very case friendly. Armorsuit - Amazon ignore the up and down reviews they've made a few revisions and it's great now

u/NW-Hen · 6 pointsr/GalaxyS8

The Samsung protective cover. So slim it almost feels like there is no case on it. Also, if you use the FPS the separate cut out makes a huge difference. You can find it in t-mobile stores and of course Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Clear-Protective-Orchid/dp/B06XJ9ZL76?th=1&psc=1

I also have the ringke slim and it's pretty good. Almost as slim as the Samsung case above with better grip.

u/rottenstock · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

How do you like it? Does it fit well? Im looking at this one.

Thanks!

u/mikel81 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I use the iOttie Easy One Touch 3. It comes with a reusable dash pad with a non-destructive and renewable adhesive for dash mounting, or you can mount straight to the windshield. It has a ton of versatility in mounting location due to the high level of adjustability on the mount itself, and has a easy in, easy out system where you're never fidgeting with clamps...just press your phone against the back and it snaps closed, press the buttons on the back and it locks back open.

u/mjoseph998 · 6 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I use this one. It is amazing and holds it very well. The spring loaded part is what I like the most - it hold the phone extremely well without slipping. iOttie Easy One Touch 3

used the spigen air cushion clear case for my S7 edge and S6. It's under $15 on amazon and the best I've seen. As for screen protector, go without bc the gamble is worth it you get to experience the silky smooth oem gorilla glass.

u/Foamloller · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I got this one for $16 with a lightning deal.

Works very well as a nightstand. The charge light isn't bright enough and it's easy to center the phone perfect every time (with my round flat charger it would randomly stop charging and couldn't center it without visual inspection)

It's also grippy.

these dongles can convert all of your cables to USB C easily

u/ptabs226 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I bought this case Link

Its good, doesn't add much bulk but it won't offer much protection. I think I'm going to get a heavier duty case for travel/weekends.

I have this screen protector and I didn't use it - Link

Seemed okay but it didn't work with a case. Since i took the glass off I was able to test it a little and it was pretty scratch resistant. A box cutter and keys didn't scratch it.

u/snowsurfer93 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I really like the spigen series of cases. I had one on my old phone and my new one for my s8 is coming tomorrow. They provide good protection and they are a good price. There's about 4 of them ranging from slimmer profile (the one I got) to a little bulkier one for added protection. I have also heard good things about the UAG series of cases. Here's the one I bought:

Spigen Rugged Armor Galaxy S8 Case with Resilient Shock Absorption and Carbon Fiber Design for Samsung Galaxy S8 (2017) - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XNNJ4KM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ixWOzbFSCF4MA

u/furiousgtz · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I ordered bunch of random cases from Amazon. About to ship 5 back and keeping one . Spigen S8+ Liquid Crystal feels solid and phone looks slim. It comes down to you and how you like the feel in your hand. Still no luck with screen protector they are all garbage.

u/Tehfrag · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Spigen Neo Hybrid is what I use and love it.
Better to buy directly from the case maker, plus it's cheaper on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Spigen®-Flexible-Protection-Reinforced-Gunmetal/dp/B06XP6CRP5/

u/savi0r23 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

this one has worked awesome for me so far. It was really easy to apply (wet application). only 8 bucks.

u/fullmoon_coldbrew · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Yes. I particularly enjoy the air vent mounts because I can charge my phone and actually have it charge when it is 100F out because the back is being blasted by AC. I similarly live in swamp ass territory.

Here's the mount I use: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Premium-Magnetic-Holder-iPhone/dp/B01AMGFY5M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502716834&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+magnetic+mount

It comes with a few metal plates that you can stick to the inside of your case to increase the magnetism (or directly to the back of your phone, which I do not recommend). As I said before I don't find this necessary (my phone has never slipped off the mount) as the wireless charging coils exhibit enough attraction with the magnets to hold it up.

u/BillyLongstroke · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS8

Wireless charger works great for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XH4X7SZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And some USB-C adapters. And I like the Spigen liquid air armor case.

u/Exvalidus · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Spigen works for me. Definitely works naked, works very well with a thin case, works acceptably with Spigen Neo Hybrid (very bumpy roads can cause it to fall)

Having learnt a very expensive lesson of having to have a cracked screen replaced after dropping my S8+ four days after getting it, it is now sporting a Spigen Neo Hybrid Case:

u/Basketbiscuits · 0 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I got the clear version of the spigen ultra hybrid which is literally exactly the same as the otterbox symmetry for half the price. I love the clear case, I dont think I could handle this beautiful of a phone in anything else, but thats just my own opinion.

u/benk016 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I bought 2 of these for me and my wife. She's got an S7 and I have the S8+. They have worked just as good as the old original samsung wireless charger disk, without the annoying problem of trying to find the right spot on the disk to put the phone to get it to charge, and then hoping it actually charged fully overnight.

It also nice having fast wireless charging. It's not as fast as fast wired charging, but much faster than regular wireless charging.

u/chriskmee · 14 pointsr/GalaxyS8

If you're comfortable spending some cash iottie makes exactly what you are looking for.

Same here, got 3 pack of Aukey USB-C (male) to Micro USB Adapters which when used I would get a slow charging message on my S8+. Returned and replaced with Anker 2 pack work 100% same as supplied Samsung USB-C cable.

Thanks for that and it makes sense... Here's what I was looking at:

I bought screen protector from i-blason, looked terrible, had glue marks on both edges from top to bottom, returned it.

Bought the Clayco case with screen protector. Works great, just nearly impossible to remove case once you put it on.

Edit:
Can only open the Clayco case by sticking something in the bottom right

I bought this one when I had the Moto X

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BZC262Q/ref=oh_aui_i_sh_in_o2_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With the support of the power cable there's just enough room to also still plug in your aux if you don't have Bluetooth.

u/ronyjk22 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I haven't had any problem with sensitivity at all. Everything works perfectly well. The only thing I have a problem with is that it kinda gives you a rubbery feel. Which I don't have a problem with but I miss feeling the glass.

Always been an Anker and Aukey fan, never had an issue with their products. I bought these and they work for both fast charging and data transfer.

u/IamLasagna · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

You need to check out the Supcase Unicorn Beetle. I had it on my s7edge, and now on my s8 Active. It is the only case that I found that offers solid drop protection while remaining close to the width of the phone.

u/outdatedboat · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I have a plastic screen protector built into my case. It's really nice actually. I didn't think I'd like the plastic, but I don't even notice it's there.

I have two vents I can put the mount in my Cars dash. Not sure if the Kenu will stick out far enough for the top vent which does not close.

I did find this iOttie Which will angle the phone.

u/okayyurdun · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I have been rocking a clayco case since purchase and have t had a single issue. My phone has been dropped a few times without damage. The case is a full style case and has a built in screen protector kind of like lifeproof. It's a bit bulky, but my phone looks brand new so I'm not going to complain.

https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Wireless-Charging-Magnetic-Samsung/dp/B06Y34XQRH/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i I have been eyeing on this car charger I have been using previous model (slower qi charging with one touch mount) As I changed my phone to GS8+ with case it has been very hard to put my phone on the dock so I was looking for the alternative and found iottie will release new model with fast qi charge + magnetic mount. Might worth to consider. It's bit expensive and it will be released on July so no real testimony from users yet.

I got a tech21 Pure clear through VZW site (it's the only place in stock right now) and it came in today.

Was originally going to cancel and I ordered a spigen ultra hybrid as well, but now that the Tech21 is here, it's actually just as thin if not thinner, and feels much more sturdy (way harder plastic). I'll probably end up using the Tech21.

The Anker micro usb to usb c adapter should work with Quick Charge according to the reviews.

u/dobosininja · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I grabbed a pack of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AHKYIRS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will grab some actually USB C cables later on, but the stock one in the box and these should hold me over for a little while.

u/tonyf007 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS8

Getting these adapters so I can continue using my micro USB rapid car chargers.

u/Heathroi · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

i have had case that has raised lip which is couple of millimeters above screen level and have had that for couple of years without issue.

Based on the last thread her was my response:

I'm from Australia but my current pre-orders are:

For the 'quasi-protection' https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Brushed-Flexible-Anti-Slip-Shock-Absorbent/dp/B06X9NJ9V1/

For the aesthetic https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Transparent-Protection-Absorption-Technology/dp/B06XXP8KF7/

u/Kaldur_ahm · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I ordered this one

I'll let you know when I get it. It's slightly thicker as it has some impact protection.

u/mistahseller · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I use this one with a Spigen Liquid Crystal case. I also have a skin on the back.

u/auskendoro · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Wait, I thought rugged armor is slimmer and less protective than the neo hybrid? At least that's what it looks like from pictures.

I ordered these a couple weeks ago. They work with a QuickCharge 3.0 battery that I bought, as well as a cigarette lighter adapter that also supports QuickCharge. No complaints here.

Case & Screen protector. It was hard to convince myself to put a case and protector on such a beautiful phone but I dont actually mind this combo. This is coming from a guy who refused to put a protector on all my previous phones (directly causing the demise of a couple)

u/bfk1010 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I was looking for something similar since last year, I want fast wireless charger with magnet for my car. Now I found this one but I'm not sure about it.

u/constantino2 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

its this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XH4X7SZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it does indicate it should come with a charger, and it does. its a little tricky since there are 4 different versions under the listing, but people say it should do 5v or 9v on the wall adaptor (which Id expect for fast charge), and mine is only 5v.

were you able to register your S/N on the samsung site? Or did you not try?

u/angry_dingo · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

This iottie is the one I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017HME9DC/

Vent clips on securely, snaps shut when the back button is depressed by the phone, and unlocking the phone puts your hands naturally around the phone.

u/Hentai_Bowtie · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I've been using this case for a couple days, built in screen protector, no issues so far

u/pwnrmasta_01 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I guess that is my only option. What I was looking for was something that has 0 cabling whatsoever! Something like this but EXCLUSIVELY USB Type C, no Micro USB!

It was this stupid ass case. So pissed. It even has that bump up top n bottom so nothing hits the screen.
