You probably don't need an OtterBox case, but I highly recommend using some sort of case on this phone, especially if you're accident prone like I am.

I have had this device since it came out and I have dropped it so many times. So many!! Thankfully the phone has remained completely unscathed despite my best efforts to break the damned thing. Haha.

I have been fond of the Hybrid style cases (hard transparent backs with soft TPU plastic around the edges) which are sturdy enough to protect the phone, but not bulky. They also provide much needed grip as this gorgeous device is slippery!

Might I recommend either the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case or the Incipio Octane case? Both are available on Amazon and have great reviews. I can tell you that I can attest to their durability. The Incipio case is nice because the finish is matte and doesn't show scratches as much as the Spigen case. Good luck and enjoy your new phone!

I have a basic Samsung pad one, probably two or three years old now, but still works fine and Anker makes really good ones too! I've got this one from Anker. I'm also considering upgrading my work desk one to this one because it'd be easier to look at the phone. If you're in the US, Anker should easily be available on Amazon too. Other brands that are good are Belkin and Aukey :)

Spigen thin fit. Used the same on my S7E for 2 years, wonderful case. You get to use the nice buttons on the phone yet get decent protection.

I will say, however, that I went through 3 of those cases on my S7E in 2 years. Drops (which happened a lot) will be absorbed, but given the amount of material the case breaks easily. It's a tradeoff, but one I was happy to make.

Personally I dont care for Spigen as I prefer UAG or Speck, but I like to have something at launch. Ordered SupCase over a week ago and already got it, but the special $5 price expired so I seen this one on SD and it is probably better than nothing for protection.

has anyone tried out this case yet? good price, shows the beautiful phone, rugged enough and thin. Here's what I posted in response to a similar question.

If you're like me, you don't want anything that detracts from the design of the phone. And I will not tolerate any case that covers the switchgear - I want direct tactile contact with the buttons.

I'm using this ultra thin case right now: Galaxy S9 Plus MNML Thin Case (Clear Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8DP8YF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6hf.BbD26Y1NQ

It doesn't provide any drop protection, but it improves grip, which helps to prevent a drop in the first place.

I switch between that one and this one, which does provide some shock protection in the corners: https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIA6RP8425424

I'm thinking about trying this TPU case: ESR Soft Galaxy S9+ Plus Case, Slim TPU Cover Case Compatible for The Samsung Galaxy S9+ Plus (2018 Released), Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078PGKRZL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_irf.BbABFMMR0

Or this one: TORRAS Slim Fit Galaxy S9 Plus Case, Hard Plastic PC Ultra Thin Phone Cover Case with Matte Finish Coating Grip Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079DQSS2C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Wuf.BbWFPQTNC

To be honest, both cases does not show off the beautiful lilac purple of the phone.

For decent protection, I suggest Ringko's Fusion with transparent back. It is a hard case. Fits really well.

Alternative would be Spigen Ultra Hybrid

I bought this one and I'm very happy with it. I may get a darker color once this clear one starts to turn yellow.

I think battery cases made sense when charging was so slow. But with quick charging, a battery bank like THIS or THIS can top things off pretty quickly and for less money than a battery case.

Galaxy S9+ with a SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle TPU/Black case for $4.50 with coupon code OPND3C7S, and a 3 pack of PET screen protectors for $3.60 with coupon code GHQSDJUI
Great to have something for when I first get the phone. When I got my S7 I paid $40 for a case at Best Buy and put a scratch on it the first week while awaiting my screen protector :(

u/balista_22 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

no, thats a different model, it has to say "qc" or "quick charge" i had it but i prefer the "slower" charge smaller anker now & since the fast charge one wastes a lot of charge in the process & every drop of charge is vital in a battery pack.

but if you like fast charge, get it, but i recommend only use qc port when you really need it, to get the most charge out of the battery pack

Thanks for putting everything together.

The link for "Spigen Clear Rugged Armor" in your Google doc is broken.

Did Spigen change the case name to "Spigen Rugged Crystal Galaxy S9 Plus Case with Clear Flexible and Durable Shock Absorption for Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (2018) - Crystal Clear" ?

I would recommend spending a bit more to get the whitestone dome glass.

It really is unnoticeable except for the cutout on the top for the camera/sensors. Just takes a bit of preparation and patience but it comes with an entire installation kit which makes it easier.

u/AdamKennethHandleman · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I ordered the Anccer ultra thin case and the spigen air case so far, but I haven't put them on the phone yet. They are both ridiculously thin, and they both have no branding on the outside whatsoever. Anccer seems like it'll protect a little better IMO

u/zingzongzang48 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS9

If you drop your phone often and want something with grip and protection from drops I love the Speck Presidio grip case. I've had it since my GS7 and its been my goto forever. Only $20 on Amazon right now https://www.amazon.com/Speck-Presidio-Samsung-Galaxy-Black/dp/B079DD1B4Z/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1542221979&sr=1-4&keywords=speck+galaxy+s9+plus

u/Pancakesandcows · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I went with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S for mine, as I wanted a strong kickstand that didn't fall apart. I also like the idea of a clear case too.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078B1HB7Z

It doesn't come with a screen protector but I bought the Spigen Neoflex screen protector. Between the case and the screen protector, I've never had a problem despite how many times I've dropped the phone.

I've used this case for almost a year: TORRAS Slim Fit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079DPX5R3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HYvkDb5F6KJ96

This is a super thin case, has been on my phone when dropped on concrete, but it doesn't provide too much protection vs no case. I use it to prevent scratches mostly, and after a year, it hasn't worn loose or rubbed my phone at all either.

If you want a little more protection, maybe look at Spigen?

I had some other case that included the curved, hard, screen protector. I liked the setup, but after a few months the screen protector was always falling off.

u/Asian-Shrimp-D · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I had a somewhat bulky case before, but I recently switched to this one and I'm liking it quite a lot especially because I don't really drop my phone so I only use a thin one for minor/accidental scuffs and scrapes

u/Yomat · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I would recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Cushion-Technology-Protection-Samsung/dp/B0789WDXND?th=1&psc=1

I have the coral blue and a year later the back is still clear, not yellowing. The sides tend to yellow before the back. Getting colored sides eliminates that.

There's a lot more to SD cards than just who is reliable. If you're going to be using it for 4k video and images, then you need one that can write fast enough otherwise everything will be choppy. If you're going to store apps, then you need an A1 designation to allow for the app speeds.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYP4BR5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I grabbed this and it's been working out nicely.

u/TheUnchainedZebra · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

Spigen Liquid Air or Thin Fit. I have both, among other cases, and use the liquid air as my daily-use case. The thin fit is hands down one of the thinnest/lowest-profile cases you can get for your S9/+ that's still high-quality, and will keep the screen from touching any flat surface it's on (granted, it's only about a milimetre or less above the surface, and the case doesn't protect the side buttons). I'd go for the liquid air personally - it's a bit thicker while still being lower profile than most other cases, and will give a fair degree more protection than the thin fit.

u/whatstheword47 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I really dislike the Samsung one. It looks like an ugly suitcase. The second one looks good and will be better for drop protection

I use a Speck Presidio Grip. It's similar to the second one but it looks better in my opinion. There's also a version without the grippy stripes if you don't like them.

I have the one from Anker, and it works with my Caseology Skyfall without issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KJL4XNY

My car mount has a magnet in the mount and a plate that you're supposed to put on your phone-- I have the plate sitting in the case at the bottom of the phone, and I'm still able to wirelessly charge, although I'm on an S9+, so that might help with positioning.

u/Yangumasuta · 0 pointsr/GalaxyS9

Yep, up to 400GB this time. I bought this btw: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYP4BR5 (Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB)

The coating hasn't held up on the purple version of this case I have. The case has never popped off the phone when I've dropped it though.

u/Lankgren · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I have a Speck case, and I don't think it's too bulky, but protective.

u/sahil04 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I am using this case:

https://www.amazon.com/TORRAS-Plastic-Coating-Compatible-Samsung/dp/B079DQSS2C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543249815&sr=8-3&keywords=galaxy+s9%2B+slim+case

I have the metal plate inserted at the lower 1/3rd of the case. My phone mounts to my magnetic vent mount just fine and I have no issues using wireless charging.

u/ltRnl · 11 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I use this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00LKYW6M0/

It works... OK. If you apply it for 3 nights in a row, the oleophobic layer can last for ~3 months - then you have to reapply it.

One thing I noticed, is that sweat absolutely destroys the coating (maybe from salt?). I stopped carrying my phone with display facing my leg, and the coating is lasting for much longer.

Spigen fan here.

In the past, I have used the Spigen Rugged Armor Galaxy S7 Case, the Spigen Thin Fit Galaxy Note 5 Case, and the Spigen [Non-Slip] Galaxy S4 Case SlimNEW [Ultra Fit].

I'm going with the Spigen Tough Armor Galaxy S9 Case this time.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078BBS34R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dLCMAbAQSVQN5

Considered the SUPCASE this time around but didn't like that you lose the infinity edge. This will be my first infinity edge Samsung, so want to experience it first.
