I think I paid $14 on steam for a digital version. This is the physical version, that comes with the Real Tone Cable. The real tone cable is currently $28 on Amazon. Interestingly enough I have read a few reviews whilst looking for an alternative to the Ubisoft cable. I got the impression that musicians actually felt that ubisofts cable was pretty damn good for the price compared to some $100+ usb guitar cables. Might be the reason I have never seen the cable go on a substantial sale.
It is also worth mentioning that a new 2014 version coming out on October 22nd.
Now keep in mind that I have not played this at all. It is just sitting in my library. I have to purchase that usb cord for it. I might just jump on the physical + cable deal and maybe share it with a friend.
Keep in mind, this isn't the "Game Of The Year" edition, which is worth getting if you are going to purchase Borderlands at this point.
Here is the GOTY edition which is $36.54.

I believe you mistook the price of Dead Island.
