(I'm talking about non-alcoholic cider, IDK about hard cider, though this shit would be sooo good with some spiced rum spiked in.)
It's super duper easy! I make mine in a giant pot on the stove but I've heard of people using a crockpot if they want to save room on the stove/ make a smaller batch.
I use this recipe as a jumping point, I like Gala and Pink ladies, but you do you. I also use blood oranges because it makes the cider come out a gorgeous rosy color that I love. Don't skimp out on the maple syrup. So good.
My mother came to visit today and now my head hurts from the spike in my blood pressure. She returned my cupcake container from her birthday cupcakes and informed me that mine were good but she could've made the pastry cream filling better and that choosing a different flour could've made a fluffier cake. She says she'll make some this weekend so I can taste how much better hers are.
Now.. on the one hand, fuck her for slyly insulting my cupcakes. Everyone else loves them! On the other hand, my mother was a French trained baker and the reason I have loved cooking and baking my entire life is due to the exposure she gave me at such a young age. My childhood favorite toy was her French whisk. I'd sneak it to my room and try to sleep with it clenched in my tiny hands because I loved it so. Also, I'll get really good dessert. Grumble grumble. Stupid spite cupcakes.
