Here's a Link to the time life box set. There is one version of every song he recorded at Sun. This is some great bread and butter stuff to cut your teeth on. Pretty inexpensive as well.
You could go back and work your way through all of those old albums for that "album experience" but this is the easiest way to get all of those songs in one package. The remastering is great and they use the single version for most of the cuts. There is also about 30 pages in the box that have some really great info and little stories and such about the time johnny spent at sun with Sam Phillips. It's some really interesting stuff. I have this set and I can't recommend it enough.
His music makes a lot more sense when you see where he comes from. His autobiography is outstanding. Check out Walk The Line with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
