Ah, the sound system. I can help you there!
For your door speakers, these are great money. They will really outperform your factory speakers. Rockford is a tried and true name, you can't go wrong.
If you want another subwoofer, which for most people isn't necessary but if you want a really rounded full range sound it is, you can go with something low power and relatively cheap like this. Again, Rockford is tried and true high quality stuff. Of course, you'll need a dedicated amp for the sub if you go that route.
This one is pretty good. I have one that is a similar model at home. Alpine is a good brand. It is a 2 channel amp, so you will want to bridge the two channels into one. The instructions should tell you how to do that.
And, a box is required for a subwoofer. You can build your own if you like, or you can simply buy one. For a single 10" sub you want a box that is approximately 0.5 cubic feet on the inside. This one is 0.6, which is plenty close enough. This box is sealed, so you will get cleaner sharper lows. You can also go ported if you want louder lows.
And, for a sub and amp, you will also need a dedicated wiring kit. Boom, this one will be perfectly fine for what you're using it for. The power will have to be run through the firewall directly from the battery. The ground will connect to any bare metal inside the truck. I suspect you will need to cut a piece out of the carpet under a seat and use a self drilling screw to connect it. You will also have to run a remote wire from your head unit to tell the amp when to turn on. It should be a solid blue wire, but check your specific head unit to make sure.
If the D1's are like the D2's, your amp should fit nicely under your passengers seat.
Also, it's not necessary, But I recommend going through the trouble of replacing the factory speaker wire. As old as it is it is probably corroded and is also pretty small. [This] is the stuff I use, it works. That's all there really is to say.
As for your factory tweeters in the windshield pillars (did the D1's have those?), they may still work fine. If they don't just pick up a set of these. It's typically best to match your mid range speakers with a matching set of tweeters. It's best to place tweeters in the pillars. Just hook them into the same line with the front speakers.
This will give you a pretty good setup. Exponentially better than stock for sure. Best of luck!
Sure thing. It looks like the company is called Dash Mat and they are relatively cheap on Amazon ($45 + free shipping) - here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0048F79T8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3/143-7733861-9528039?ie=UTF8&qid=1522600344&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=land+rover+lr3+dash+cover&dpPl=1&dpID=21IDImKEwvL&ref=plSrch
Also, here are a few pictures of what the cover looks like on the dash: https://imgur.com/gallery/tAVSj
I’ve read some things where people seem to make fun of them or not like them. To each their own, but I think they look pretty clean and hopefully it will help avoid future cracks.
Yes, the cheapest way to upgrade your headlights is to convert them from the 9005 bulb to the 9011 bulb. The conversion takes about 5 minutes and is super easy with just a nail clipper.

So, I was doing some research online and it seems that for "weekend warriors" a dedicated track pad might not be the best choice. It says they're pretty stiff and will eat through rotors if you try to daily drive on them.
A few forums just recommend premium brake pads rather than something super expensive.
Here's what I found: TRW TPC1479 Premium Ceramic Front Disc Brake Pad Set and TRW TPC1099 Premium Ceramic Rear Disc Brake Pad Set. I've been wanting to upgrade to ceramics to reduce the brake dust on my wheels, but it seems they'll be pretty good for the occasional track use, too.
Any thoughts on these?

Check that out. It is a jackstand + a bottle jack. Most bottle jacks have just a knurled nub to lift on - very dicey. This is a jack stand for added safety (does NOT negate the need for real jack stands!) but also has a nice curved lift head to get a good seat on axle/frame. Be safe, rover on.
Doesn't necessarily come with the receiving hitch and those are like $400.
The brake controller wiring harness is pretty easy to install. I got mine here and there's a video for the install: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/YWJ500170ABP
Get a Tekonsha brake controller from Amazon and this wiring harness: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NZQIDE/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Finally, you need to get the Rover programmed to have a trailer. That was like $100 from a local Rover mechanic.
Personally, I wouldn't waste the money for an off-road vehicle.
But my Dad uses this stuff on his 1972 Grand Prix show / drag car and it's pretty incredible. Spray it on, walk away. Makes all the brown shit disappear pretty much permanently.
Just make sure it dries ALL THE WAY before driving anywhere, and don't apply it on your nice clean driveway, it'll stain the concrete.

Buy a bottle of this stuff. I usually don't buy into these kind of products but it works...I actually just fixed a super leaky box on one of the Defenders in my shop last week with it. It's an additive that causes the seals to swell up slightly..the output seal is typically the culprit so this could solve it.
Two Optima red tops, connected with something like this (http://www.amazon.com/WARN-36494-Isolator-Connector-Kit/dp/B000BQN0N2) is more than enough to run my ARB fridge for an extended period of time. Believe me, you want a refrigerator. Never looking back.
I don't like to run my AC just the heater, the first thing to prob go will either be a locking mechanism in one of the doors or god forbid your head gasket.
Don't add any weird shit to your coolant, pop the hood every other week and have a look around for any deposits on the block of coolant or anything.
I would also recommend getting one of these bluetooth OBD scanners and use the Dashcommand app with it. So should a light come on your dash you can diagnose it quickly.

These are not iPhone compatible but are on androids. If an ABS issue arises it will have to go to a shop that has the right stuff to diagnose it, not many obd scanners can touch a Rovers ABS computer.
Premium ga$ only! Have fun!
Depending on the year that could be the one that I've seen used with an iPod accessory cable (LR specific, of course).
edit: yep, this one I think:
