You're not going to be able to do squat for video editing or streaming on a 250-370 dollar laptop. the best laptops in that price range to be completely honest are chromebooks. Chromebooks aren't bad but you can't do much other than chrome based stuff, hence the name. If you just wanted to watch videos and could tolerate a 720p screen, chromebooks would be fine, but I will NEVER recommend any windows laptop at that price point unless for some odd reason it has more than 6 gigabytes of RAM. 6 is the bare minimum that one should accept when using Windows 10, and 8 should be the target minimum. Only get 6 gigabytes of RAM if that's the absolute best you could afford at the time. You may be better off spending a couple hundred extra dollars on something like the Acer Aspire or one of the many HP x360 models. I personally recommend the x360 over the acer simply because I've got better product history with HP than I do Acer. I personally didn't get my laptop on Amazon, couldn't find one for my budget that was good enough. I paid 400 dollars for mine. I have the HP 15-bw053od. It's a 15 inch laptop with a quad core AMD APU and pretty decent integrated graphics (good enough to game on actually) it also has 8 gigabytes of RAM out of the box but I could upgrade to 16 any time for pretty cheap. Also it has a pretty slow 5400 RPM hard drive but that could also be swapped out with an SSD down the road. Amazon may not be the best place for you to get yourself a laptop unless you wanna bump your budget up by a couple hundred dollars, I got my laptop at OfficeMax. Microcenter is also a good place to look for laptops though.
Here are a couple links to okay/good laptops on Amazon, which are sadly about your 370 dollar limit:

HP x360 2in1

Acer Aspire E15

Both of those are pretty strong for the price, but they wouldn't be the absolute best at video editing. Depending on the webcam streaming you want to do those laptops could do just fine. The acer would do video editing a bit better simply for having an SSD installed already, but if I remember correctly, you could also put an SSD in the x360, which is also a touch screen, which I think is pretty useful for a lot of windows programs outside of gaming.

Sure happy to help you out.I would definitely recommend the ASUS FX502VM-AS73 15.6-inch Full HD Gaming Laptop, with Windows 10 15.6,There are two main hardware aspects of this laptop which you will definitely be pleased of an exigent gamer. Its CPU, from the 7th generation of intel chips and its GPU from the GeForce 10 series of video cards. The i7-7700HQ processor gives excellent results while gaming or working with complex software using this laptop. Now, the GPU. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is one of the fastest currently available for laptops. It guarantees high FPS on your favorite games, using the latest technologies created by the brand. It has 16 GB RAM DDR4. I consider this the ideal amount for gamers, as well as for users willing to use demanding software, like CGI software, compilers, and multi-tasking in general.Storage capacity is also a great thing about this laptop. It comes with a 128 GB solid state drive, and also a 1 TB hard drive disk running at 7200 rpm. It weighs 4.9lbs comfortable to carry around.

I wouldn't recommend most of these.

ASUS FX502VM

  • Low quality TN display with poor contrast and viewing angles. Like the left side of this photo. Doesn't make sense for laptops in this high of a price bracket, you'll notice it, and you can easily get something better.
  • Temps aren't very good either, as owners of the model, at least in /r/pcmasterrace, have reported.

    Legion Y720

  • Screen isn't awful. A bit under-saturated (45% NTSC IPS rather than the usual 72% NTSC at this price) but a lot better than the FX502VM.
  • Heavy @7lbs.
  • With this, it's not my usual recommendation unless you will use the TB3 port it has.

    ASUS N552VW

  • Different screen issue this time. PenTile (RG/BW) not-true-4K display, lists 3840x2160 in the specs and in the display control panel, but doesn't give you the full detail of the resolution, yet still makes you deal with the scaling issues of the resolution.
  • At this kind of price, you can either get a true-4K Ideapad Y700 with the same GPU if you want 4K for screen realestate purposes, or a much better GPU (This 7567 is good; the base model has another poor TN display).

    Now for the good

    Gigabyte P57W

  • Less portable than a 15.6-incher since it's 17.3", but I don't think there's any particular glaring flaws with this model.

    Acer Helios

  • Screen like the Y720 but cheaper to make up for it, and not so heavy.
  • I usually recommend the Clevo N850HP6 for the $1000-$1200 price range, for its 72% NTSC IPS display (Eluktronics only, not Sager and I think not Prostar either, they have 45% NTSC), and its less-gamer aesthetic. But the Helios isn't a bad pick. http://www.eluktronics.com/N850HP6

    More options

    Clevo P650HP6

  • https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-P650HP6-Premium-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B01MT7P0QJ/ (512GB SSD, no G-Sync)
  • http://lpc-digital.com/product/sager-np8156-clevo-p650hp6-g/ (Configurable, G-Sync)
  • 120Hz option is a high quality TN panel. All display options are great, except I'd say it's debatable for the 4K option since it's also PenTile (RG/BW) not-true-4K.

    MSI GT62VR

  • G-Sync, great display.
  • GT62VR is the great MSI. GE62VR is meh, and GP62MVR has a poor display. MSI is 2016/2017's biggest mixed bag. Don't trust the brand, trust specific models from them.

If you're able to afford it/return your current laptop, check out these options:

  • [Acer Aspire 5]

^ This is the best option if you're looking for something new. It costs $550 and since it has a relatively new dedicated graphics card, it is more than enough for school/light gaming.

  • ASUS VivoBook F510UA

^ A newer version of your laptop that has the same CPU as the Acer, but has no SSD nor dedicated graphics. Is actually pretty sleek looking for the price. $509

  • Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577

^ Much more powerful than the other two laptops but also older, and maybe not the best for school due to its bulk. Is much much much better for gaming. Most expensive one listed here at $655.49

  • HP elitebook 8470p

^ Cheapest laptop that can run minecraft with 40 to 60 fps. Is refurbished. Has good keyboard and surprisingly built like a tank, with the most metal out of all the laptops linked, but is also a bit bulky for school. Screen is only 720p screen like your current one. Way less powerful than other laptops but CPU is still an upgrade from your current. $263.99

    Edit: spelling & formatting.

If you are ok with a used laptop that is like new, allow me to introduce this nicely built Lenovo Ideapad 510. it fits perfectly into your budget, it comes with some decent specs that will definitely give a good gaming experience as well as manage all the tasks you mentioned. it has a

  • Intel Core i5
  • 8 GB RAM which will be great for easy multitasking
  • massive 1TB storage space.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 940MX for smooth gaming
  • Windows 10
  • Full HD IPS Display for great viewing angles when gaming on multi players
  • 4.8 pounds for portability

A good gaming laptop with that price range is the Dell 15.6Inch Gaming Laptop. It has an Intel quad core i5-6300hq processing at its best with 256gb ssd, 8gb of ram which is recommended to have for gaming and Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M dedicated graphics awesome for gaming and guaranteed to give you good fps and allow to play your games on high settings

u/The---Technician · 2 pointsr/Laptop

Okay.. For overwatch, a low end dedicated graphics card is recommended. This Acer Aspire E 15 if you are okay with it's 5 pounds weight , would be a perfect pick for you as a light gamer and college student. It has decent performance specs, good build quality and importantly, a fantastic 12 hours battery life. It will allow you to complete your college tasks in addition to running Overwatch very well.

u/silents429 · 2 pointsr/Laptop

I know of a few good ones Pre $1000 range.

If you can spare the extra for the one I suggested it'd be the better (albeit more expensive) option. Assuming you'd get an SSD or whatever later on.

Something with an 960m however (assuming you are content with the gaming performance it offers) can get you a newer processor, less ram (8GB is plenty and I am a huge multi tasker) but a lot of them come with SSD's and usually a more premium laptop.

Another fair warning, The difference between a Haswell processor and the newest Skylake, isn't that significant, so if when you are weighing your options, the CPU should not be the deciding factor.

Now this $900 http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i7559-2512BLK-Generation-GeForce/dp/B015PYZ0J6/ref=sr_1_13?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453601207&sr=1-13&keywords=gtx+965m#Ask

Will get you a 960m 4GB, Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ, 8GB Ram, a 1TB hybrid drive (Generally the speed of an SSD with the storage of a HDD) Keep in mind that the ram can be upgraded very easily, and I believe an open slot to put in another HDD/SSD as well.

Now if this laptop intrigues you, 1 more thing, whenever buying a laptop or prebuilt PC you should ALWAYS do a fresh install of Windows to clear up crapware, and to get a speedier long lasting experience, if this isn't your cup of tea, or you are nervous about doing it, this laptop for just $100 more http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i7559-2512BLK-Generation-GeForce/dp/B015PYZ0J6/ref=sr_1_13?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453601207&sr=1-13&keywords=gtx+965m#Ask

Will get you the signature edition, 3840 x 2160 resolution bump, and a touchscreen, rest of the specs and design are the same however. Signature edition laptops are Microsoft certified to not have anything extra on it, as well as ensuring another layer of quality.

Warnings about this laptop would be that you won't be playing newer games at that high of a resolution decently, so you would have to change the resolution for a lot more demanding games back down to 1080P

Any of the 3 laptops I picked out are completely viable, as well as the refurbished. It's all a matter of where you want your money going, and if you are content with what the 960m can bring you with games. I can't tell you which one to grab, I can tell you the signature edition wouldn't be my pick, since I am tech savvy to do fresh installs, and I don't care much for higher resolutions and touch screens.

For $800, you can get a Dell 7559:
-15.6" 1080p
-i5 6300HQ
-8 GB DDR3
-256GB SSD
-GTX 960m @ 4GB VRAM.

This laptop will allow for more than light gaming (not as much as a 970m gpu will allow, but 970M is not catered for light gamers). Honestly, this is probably the best bang for your buck as the Dell XPS starts at $800 without a dGPU. The biggest difference would be the thinness of the laptop, as the XPS is thinner, and better screen (the infinity edge is noted for 100% color accuracy on the RGB scale, I believe).

I took the plunge early/mid-July and got a refurbished Eluktronics N850HK1 Premium Gaming Laptop for about 950. I'll start with cons:

-access to motherboard requires unscrewing 16 screws, including 3 behind battery

-initial issues with running games on battery at 30fps cap (fix was installing new nvidia drivers and changing battery boost on nvidia experience from 30fps to 60fps)

Now the pros:

-well put together, no/very little flex

-dark souls 3 performs at max settings at 60fps with small dips in some areas when on max performance mode. (fan noise and heat noticeable but acceptable when on flat surface)

-lower end titles (freedom planet, 2d sidescroller) when on power saver mode works great with no hardly noticeable heat, fan

-no bloatware, excluding windows 10 bs

Neutral:

-somewhat low battery life (2~3 hrs when pushing AAA title), but expected with gaming laptop at this price

-laptop opens to max 120 degrees, give or take

-5lbs

-entirely plastic body

-support is meh (called them initially about the 30fps when on battery issue, informed me that its designed that way)

Overall, I don't regret my purchase. I've upgraded the RAM to 32db (idk why I did that, only plan on gaming and surfing on it) and installed a 2TB hybrid HDD. Both work fine on it.

But would I buy it again after know all this? Probably not. I'll likely would have chosen the Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop with 2TB Hard drive bundle seeing as it has a 1060 (approx 20% better performance in games overall) for $1140. Thanks for reading my rant.

To be frank, AU$ 500 won't really net you an i7, not even an i5. If you're willing to go with an i3, you can get something quite good. But I think it's due to the Cyber Monday or something deals going on in the US. I'm not sure about it on Australia.
Anyway, for good subjective performance, actually what's important is the RAM and SSD. An i3 can even handle 4k videos and office multitasking just fine. Lack of those 2 makes things slow.

The only one I can really find is this:
http://www.amazon.com/F555LA-AB31-15-6-inch-Full-HD-Laptop-Windows/dp/B011KFQASE

Otherwise you'll have to look for second hand laptops. But if you can save up for more, you can add in more RAM and swap an SSD inside that, at an additional $100 you can get a 4GB RAM and a 250GB SSD

u/SnorriChinchilla · 2 pointsr/Laptop

Probably this laptop
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834315131

but it has A LOT of bloatware, so you would have to do a clean install. Also, she really doesn't need a dedicated GPU and a core i5 for her usage. You could save money and get a cheaper one like this: http://www.amazon.com/F555LA-AB31-15-6-inch-Full-HD-Laptop-Windows/dp/B011KFQASE/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453849321&sr=1-6&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A9647486011

This has the 960, 4 gigs of VRAM is wayy more than that particular card will ever be able to use. But it's latest cpu and a semi good GPU. Recommended if you want a great laptop for moderate gaming. But again I'd go with this.

These are the best specs you can get for the price.

Where are you purchasing from?

For what you are doing you should favor CPU, Memory, and Storage (SSD)

https://www.amazon.com/VivoBook-i5-8250U-NanoEdge-Fingerprint-F510UA-AH51/dp/B0762S8PYM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1511901255&sr=1-1&keywords=i5+8250u

that is $500 without an SSD, has everything else.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-i5-8250U-GeForce-A515-51G-515J/dp/B075KCJHMD/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511901295&sr=8-3&keywords=i5+8250u+mx150

This is $600 if you can wait for it to be in stock...

That has the latest 8th gen intel. So you will get lots of battery life, 8 threads for your CPU, and the second one has a decent dedicated GPU... meaning that if you want to do anything graphic intensive it is there... which is always the problem with laptops. It will help with overall image quality, media playback, and if you decide to do anything more.

u/Z2810 · 2 pointsr/Laptop

The LG Gram is very light and has a large battery. For the 14" i7 version it apparently goes up to 17.5 hours. The programs you're running don't seem to be overly intensive are they?

Also if you had a tighter budget I would have reccomended something cheaper such as the Acer Aspire E15 but the LG Gram is very durable and has very good power inside such a small package.

Best deal I've seen by far. 230 model. NVMe SSD, 120hz panel. Get it.

You would most likely have to disassemble the screen to get to the back of the casing in order to pop it out. I'd say to just cover it with a piece of vinyl.

You could get some in plain black or get a carbon fiber pattern which I think would look nice.
