When I first saw your post, I thought you just had a typo.
With the christmas season , many lego stores got a BUNCH of stock of the research institutes and they are currently more available/cheaper than they have been in the past. Many people have gotten extra's in order to try share them around , myself included.
That being said , 60 $ is pretty steep considering that even ebay right now is closer to the 30-45 $ range on buy it now's .
