Yeah, I was lucky to have some great orthotics that had been made years before my injury & I had hardly ever used them. So, I actually had a "template" of my "old" foot to use in my new bigger sneakers - worked great!
and I can't say enough about PT and home exercises <these were my saving grace after the Dr's work.

+1 to this. There are leg elevation pillows that you can put on your bed. And just lay there for a day, if you can. My foot gets swollen after 10-20 minutes jumping around but it's always good in the morning when I sleep on the pillow.

Side sleeping worked as well, but I ended up sleeping on one side so much it didn't help keep things symmetrical when I started walking again.
