Military sounds good - I for one am a 2D artist and that fulfills all my needs. Of course, to each his own and you'll have to find yours. Some men love fishing, travelling the country etc. But I've found that the most meaningful things are creative: writing, music, building stuff, public speaking even making Youtube videos.

Also check out Aaron Clarey - https://www.youtube.com/user/AaronClarey/videos and https://www.amazon.com/Bachelor-Pad-Economics-Aaron-Clarey-ebook/dp/B00HMQZREO To me at least he's been an amazing influence. Good luck!

> I don't know if it's a trait I've inherited from my Dad as he's pretty "beta"

Kids want to see their parents as flawless. They want to respect them, etc. It's a natural thing to do.

Your dad is 'pretty beta', so you've unconciously learned and adapted to be 'lesser' than him, in order to keep seeing him as a respectable man you look up to and learn from.

Kids adapt to please their parents when they (the parents) are emotional immature people.

This book might help you with it.

I say this as a fan of Evola and someone who embraces the idea that we are in the Kali Yuga: people have been complaining about the decline of their civilization forever, stop being so melodramatic about it. I get it, there is clown world shit happening that makes all of us see red, but that is no excuse to just give up. Stop waiting for some mythic event like the return of Christ, the four horsemen of the apocalypse, or whatever deus ex machina story people have been talking about since the beginning of time. Start your own damn thing.

Many modern oligarchs did not expect to be as successful as they ended up.

  • Erik Prince of Blackwater (per Jeremy Scahill) - "Erk Prince might now see his empire as the fifth branch of the USA military, but his designs for Blackwater started off much more modestly."
  • Elon Musk thought that Tesla would fail.
  • In 2015 who expected Trump to end up as president?

I also see a lot of complaining in here about the overwhelming amount of simps in the world. Simps aren't a problem, simps are an opportunity. Modern capitalism basically turned most of those bluepillers into serfs. Why shouldn't they be your serfs? Why should Jeff Bezos get serfs and not you?

There are an incredible amount of people (99%?) who have completely given up thinking, which translates into an incredible amount of opportunity. Men have survived and even thrived despite incredible suffering throughout history. While we have dire problems to face, our ancestors went through shit like seeing 30-60% of their continent die.

Fuck clown world. Build your own fiefdom. Most people are serfs and you don't need that many people to make a significant change in your own small corner of the world. Find a few people who are completely intolerant of clown world and start digging.

    From The Lessons of History:

"So we cannot be sure that the moral laxity of our times is a herald of decay rather than a painful or delightful transition between a moral code that has lost its agricultural basis and another that our industrial civilization has yet to forge into social order and normality. Meanwhile history assures us that civilizations decay quite leisurely. For 250 years after moral weakening began in Greece with the Sophists, Hellenic civilization continued to produce masterpieces of literature and art. Roman morals began to “decay” soon after the conquered Greeks passed into Italy (146 B.C.), but Rome continued to have great statesmen, philosophers, poets, and artists until the death of Marcus Aurelius (A.D. 180). Politically Rome was at nadir when Caesar came (60 B.C.); yet it did not quite succumb to the barbarians till A.D. 465. May we take as long to fall as did Imperial Rome!"

Nassim Taleb: The Most Intolerant Wins: The Dictatorship of the Small Minority

"It suffices for an intransigent minority –a certain type of intransigent minorities –to reach a minutely small level, say three or four percent of the total population, for the entire population to have to submit to their preferences."

Jack Donovan - Becoming a Barbarian

"There’s an old Greek proverb that says, “society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” If you don’t like what’s happening around you, what’s happening to culture, what’s happening to men and women, what people are becoming — get out there and start digging. Plant the seed of something new. Of something better. Plant the seed of something you really want — not just whatever you think you can have. Show others that there’s a different way to live. Spend the rest of your life tending a root that may one day grow into a tree of liberty."

These are all very large topics and it's hard posting it all in a single reddit post and do them all justice. I will help with the first one to just get you started. The rest you will have to look into yourself. Google searching and youtube are good places to start. In general if it it sounds crazy enough to be conspiratorial while being plausible, it is most likely true.

I really good book I'm reading, advertised by tom leykis and I know some readers here have talked about it.

Living the single life is fun AF, but we are in the minority and it is really easy to isolate yourself from normal people. Painful and sad. You can go tell your best friend who's married all about the excitement you're having any given day. and he'll think it's cool, and might be jealous, but you have to keep making new friends to try and keep up with you. which is increasingly difficult at advancing ages.

I still wouldn't trade it for married life unless I actually found a unicorn... which really, isn't gon happen

Fun facts : The very number of X chromosome IS one of the reasons of the inferiority of women's intelligence. Men are intellectually superior to women for many biological reasons, and single X chromosome is one of them. For a detailed explanation of this, read this book:

I would check out /r/dashcam for some cheap but effective one. Personally, look no further than this beast It's got dual camera - front and rear, decent night vision and my personal favorite, it has a swivel so incase you get pulled over, you can move it to face your window. Double check with your recording laws with law enforcement.

> Yeah, like the only legit education is formal education.

This is what people seriously believe... even though the OPPOSITE is in fact true.

To wit:

  • IT'S OFFICIAL: College Students Learn Next To Nothing

  • Many Students Learn Little to Nothing in College. Surprise?

And many other articles/studies besides -- not to mention various "anecdotal" verification (I've always been able to easily identify people who were "trained/certified" in mundane things like "How to use MS Office" -- versus those who are "self-taught" {self-motivated to learn from the manual, plus puttering around, etc} -- those who are "trained" are invariably almost entirely IN-competent {barely able to perform the most basic tasks}, whereas the self-taught tend to be anywhere from competent to SUPER-competent; and the same applies with a host of other things as well).

    ---
    >Check out this book if you already haven't:

Can't recall if I've specifically read that one, but in general I am well aware of (and have read several/most of) Gatto's works*... and frankly, that book (and others like them) -- deep-dive though they seem to be -- actually BARELY scratch the surface of the REAL problems: the entire concept of "schooling" is broken/fallacious at nearly EVERY level (beyond the "plan/conspiracy" aspect that Gatto focuses on).

    -
    * Also books by John Holt -- including "How Children Learn" and "How Children Fail"; and probably I would most highly recommend one of his LAST books (published posthumously) entitled "Learning All The Time"

    ---
    >Some of it might be insecurity. They want their kids to be dependent on them. That might one reason why there are so many 30 somethings still living at home.

Dependent... or CO-dependent; and yes that does indeed seem to be one VERY likely motive (increasingly so as people have fewer & fewer kids).

And -- even ignoring the near-pervasive frequency of narcissism and alcoholic (or child of alcoholic) codependency issues -- it stands to reason that a parent who has only one or two children WILL almost certainly have a higher degree of (unconscious/subconscious) motivation to "cling" to (and even undermine/disable) one or both of them so as to keep them around**, even more so as people's statistical likelihood of living to extreme old age increases; whereas the parents of prior generations (with a half-dozen or even a dozen or more kids), could almost take it for granted that one or more of them just naturally WOULD still be around/near and willing/able to help them.

    -
** The "worry/concern" that is oft-repeated here in /r/MGTOW -- i.e. the "Aren't you afraid of dying alone???" line -- is IMHO full-evidence/proof by itself that people are HIGHLY likely to do this to their kids.

    ---
    >Seems to be a widespread phenomenon!

Again, indeed. And increasingly MORE pervasive as "woman power" (state power acting on behalf of women) grows; IME nearly all "married guys" are at least partially "cucked" in this regard (even if & when they are not actually "technically" being "cucked/cuckolded").

    -
Very -- and increasingly MORE -- RARE is the man who "puts his foot down" and ACTUALLY "sets the rules" in his own home, regarding his own children. (And one of the reasons why I am NOT bothered about NOT having biological children -- 'cause there is no way that *I* would endure/allow myself to be turned into a doormat in that fashion -- I'd go down "fighting" to prevent it {which of course is ultimately pointless relative to the fate of the kids: doesn't do them a damned bit of good if you're dead, in jail, or forced to be absent from their home/unable to properly raise/guide them}.)

    ---
    >Yep. That is another widespread phenomenon. Those who actually "do" the work are not worthy of respect, at least not as much as those who are "in charge" while doing nothing productive. There is also the "nerd" lable that is applied to talented techies and engineers. They are considered lower status than sales and management types (not that I am implying that salespeople and managers types are all bad people, they are considered higher status by default).

Exactly... our society/civilization has become "perverse" in many many ways; sexual perversity is in fact sort of the LAST aspect of "perversity" to become manifest.

I bought one of these over a year ago and these blade refils.

I think I have used less than 5 blade refils in that time, they are incredibly durable and my beard is pretty thick.

I hear ya. I'm also tired of this life. The only thing that keeps me alive is my faith in God and realizing that this life is only temporary.

I'm not going to preach here, because everyone has the ability to look things like this up for themselves. Some more practical advice:

You might want to check out this book. I'm quite critical when it comes to these kind of books, but this one has 'opened my eyes' a bit when it comes to parents.

u/zordonsbigtits · 2 pointsr/MGTOW

just keep doing what you're doing man, also check out some old philosophers and read some of their shit. While they are smart and wise and shit, the most interesting thing is that the advice they give is still extremely relevant even 2000+ years later (kinda crazy if you think about it).

The Essential Epicurus: Principal Doctrines are actually pretty insightful.

You don't need to read the whole book, its very short btw but you can just click on the amazon preview and read some of them. Some of those points may resonate with you and they may also make you realize how even though many things have changed, human nature still is mostly exactly the same.

u/fickle_fuck · 8 pointsr/MGTOW

I was thinking the same. Just bought me a drone for that price. To each his own, it's still better than pissing it away on a woman.

From my reading - This is the kind of guy who would have cheerfully thrown another man under the bus if the shoe were on someone else's foot.

That being said, the guy made a huge number of errors in handling this.

There is actually a book out there - on the best ways to handle these situations - a best seller no less :

https://www.amazon.com/SJWs-Always-Lie-Taking-Thought/dp/9527065682/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sjws+always+lie&qid=1566789213&s=books&sr=1-1

SJWs Always Lie by Vox Day (Ted Beale).

There are ways to fight back against the Female Inquisition - and make no mistake, this IS an Inquisition by women against men.

The only good part of all this is that women are red pilling men at a phenomenal rate and guaranteeing that every man on the planet avoid them, most especially avoiding white women.

The social fallout of all this is going to reverb for decades to come.

> "everything" is best learned in "schools."

Yeah, like the only legit education is formal education.

> Underlying it all a pervasive notion that only "professional TEACHERS" should be teaching kids things (gov't schools, tech schools, college, company sponsored 'training' courses, etc).

True.

> Yet they -- inexplicably (other than the above nonsense; and as I noted usually "mumbled" in an only semi-coherent manner, said as if they themselves don't really believe any of it) -- refused, or otherwise failed, to pass on that instruction to their own kids: I've known guys who work as mechanics who never even taught their own sons how to even CHECK fluids on a vehicle, much less CHANGE oil or do any other repair work (brakes, whatever). And absolutely ZERO instruction in anything else with "tools" etc.

Some of it might be insecurity. They want their kids to be dependent on them. That might one reason why there are so many 30 somethings still living at home.

> You have to seriously wonder how much the "wife/mom" (cue "suburban soccer mom" type meme) rules in those kinds of households/families ... just how completely emasculated, belittled, henpecked & controlled are these guys?

Seems to be a widespread phenomenon!

> like that the wife {despite probably NOT having actually obtained a college degree -- even a worthless one -- herself} nevertheless feels she married down; that she HATES the fact that hubby ever worked/works "blue collar"... and nevermind that said job/career pays for her home, clothes, food, vacations, etc etc etc {in fact that probably plays into it: resentment overriding/replacing gratitude or even appreciation/respect}.)

Yep. That is another widespread phenomenon. Those who actually "do" the work are not worthy of respect, at least not as much as those who are "in charge" while doing nothing productive. There is also the "nerd" lable that is applied to talented techies and engineers. u/rahl_r · 8 pointsr/MGTOW

This post is contradictory, or at least a bit inaccurate. Potentially harmful, too (to a total newbie).

What is the definition of a nice guy?

  • There's certainly the whiny little bitch who uses "niceness" as a way of manipulating other people into his fairy tales (as opposed to growing a pair of balls and taking what they want and/or saying it upfront, as it is). Once rejected, they throw emotional tantrums as the little kiddies they are. I would know, as I used to be (and still am, to an extent) this kind of a guy.

  • There may be a more mature version of a nice guy - one who got burned in the past. They may recognize that altruism is the most beneficial strategy for humans as a whole; and yet, they know human nature - so they save altruism for those who are worthy. Either that, or they remain giving without an expectation of reciprocity, retaining their inner peace (but that is not a nice guy - that is a saint).

Nice guys don't get nice things. Nice guys get shit on. What you are demonstrating is a change of attitude (seriously, good for you, as attitude is everything).

I may not be expressing myself clearly here. That is because the subject is complex, and there are multiple layers of meaning to it. For example, on some level, you are a killer (unless you believe that meat grows on the shelves of supermarkets), and aggression is a means of self-preservation. The self-consuming rage of the frustrated nice guy may have something to do with rejecting these primal layers of his nature.

Women's sexual preference has evolutionary subtext to it. This is because in pre-civilization days, nice guys didn't finish last. They finished dead in a ditch. Mating in today's world has, however, turned into charade - gym bros passing as highly fit males, no tigers to thin the herd of weaklings, etc.

Then there's the civilization layer. Cooperation really is the best strategy there... but this goes against the evolutionary hard-wiring of humans. Many just "can't help it". Civilizations crumble as selfish behaviors infiltrate various institutions of the state. Modern man is thus essentially fucked.

Recently, a book caught my attention. I liked the illustration on the cover, and the title (Becoming a Barbarian). I'm yet to order and read this book; and yet, I bet this book delves into this kind of a topic.
