Highly recommend Blood & Honor if you’re at all interested in the Philadelphia Mob. Some wild stuff

The First Family by Mike Dash is really good if you wanted to learn about the mafia in America, particularly NYC, before the Five Families were formed. It's about Giuseppe "The Clutch Hand" Morello and his gang that was one of the precursor groups to the Five Families.

Most everyone who was aligned with Morello either went to the Genovese family or the Lucchese family.

It's not about Lucky himself, but the book is very well researched and gives a ton of context to that time period.

I have spoken to a few 'mob' types from New York and a couple from Chicago. They all said it was shockingly accurate. Whoever wrote/made the sopranos said they didnt copy a book, but there is a book called "Made Men". The sopranos is too close to it to be not at least heavily inspired by it. Its based on the DeCavavantes who are based in NJ.

It wouldn't be Montreal without corruption! Also, I was told they weren't just a presence, but a HEAVY presence there .. mind you, this was from people who barely know about this world though so who knows..

Also .. a book you might be interested in, check it out here
